Out on a day off grabbing a few locals. T f t c. Haven't been here for ages. Nic to be brought back. Quick grab
Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.I am in Brisbane for a few weeks on one of my regular visits. It was great to out & about finding caches. After finding a few challenges in the area this was a nice distraction. This is my find #6407. These TBs visited: Norfolk Island Flag Found & logged using Cachly for iPhone & iPad
In recent times I've visited this area with the grandkids for a spot of fishing. Kid free and with another cache to collect thought I'd grab OTOAFP while here and with only a few muggles and blood suckers to contend with.Should have left the track to head to GZ earlier as I encountered viney pricks and cobbler pegs. The exit was far less intrusive and prick free. If only work environments were the same. Thanks Fangsoki for another reason to visit Deep Water Bend.
Needing to get out and get some printing done I headed over to office works and began my tasks. While I was waiting for a machine, I had a quick look around to see what caches are possibly near that I had not done yet. Oh, that's right there are those ones down there, hmm guess they can wait a little more and then I found this one that looked interesting and was a suitable piece of short walk exercise. So, after the printing was done, I headed over to here and began my walk. The cache was easily spotted and I signed the log. Thanks for the placement here and with that I headed back out and home.
Over from NZ visiting and doing as much caching as other commitments allow. After attending a CITO on the northside this morning, decided to spend the rest of the day finding caches on my list that were in the area.My main targets were the challenge caches in Tinchi Tamba and I think I picked a good day, with a little bit of breeze, no mozzies and lots of kangaroos. Took a while for the GPS to settle, but then was a nice quick find in the hint location. TFTC
Shazzar66 and I had been across the road, finding and signing some challenges and a Trad. A couple either qualified for or close, the other couple may take a little longer. With a little daylight left, Shaz suggested a quick find here, so with the local Kangaroo population watching on, we walked quickly to GZ, found the cache, and made our way back to our cars.Cache was signed, ShaDup.Thanks, Fangsoki, for filling another spot at Tinchi Tamba for us.
Out with Duppers for our usual Tuesday after caching session. Today we thought we would hit a few near Tichi. With this one in amongst a sea of smileys faces and we were near by, we had to grab this last one before heading home.I found your cache, One Tenth of a Favourite Point today. This is my 3284 find.Fangsoki, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF
Found this one while visiting Tinchi Tamba today chasing Challenge caches. Favorite points it seems is something I have plenty of. I do give them out but sometimes in the heat of logging a back load of finds I sometimes over look that icon. Is this cache worthy of a favorite point? Yeah why not. In future when I find a cache and I think, yeah that was a pretty ordinary find on a guard rail, it might make me think of the One Tenth of a Favourite Point phase and remind me to give them out more often.TFTC
Yeah, I'll admit I'm one of Fangsoki's mates who has partaken in the phrase "at least we earned one-tenth of a favourite point" when retiring from a particularly uninspiring geocache. Part morale-boost, part sarcasm. I think I'm funny too.But upon reflection, I haven't earnestly said the phrase in a fairly long time. I guess my geocaching habits have changed somewhat. I am fortunate enough to travel, which takes me constantly to different flavours of geocaches. And I have finally settled on a bunch of filters and preferences that mean when I am geocaching at home, I enjoy what I find. You'll note my lack of apologies about all the guardrails and mint tins I've missed. So this geocache had better have flashing lights, be extra-large and hidden next to a flock of some fancy endangered native creatures, lest I jibe it for being uninspired! But seriously, a geocache (and owner) that is honest about itself and has some reason for existing beyond an opportunity to practice writing my own name is justification enough to warrant being found, I say. This afternoon, I declared to not continue sitting around home, nor cleaning the other half of my bathroom and grabbed the car keys. I wound up aiming for Tinchi Tamba, figuring the recent dry, with the current cold and brisk winds would reduce the mosquito hoards. En route, I figured I should ask the CO if he happens to be nearby and interested in re-finding his own geocaches. As it turns out; he was. But would be a few minutes later than me. I opted to fill that time by not sitting in my car but going for a dash 600 metres out to this geocache. Heck knows I could do with an extra tenth of a favourite point right about now. I haven't even used my last 200 full favourite points! And why is that, having cut out uninspired hides in recent times, you'd think I'd award more favourites. Seems the mental bar has also been lifted and still shy of 10% of my finds attract such love. There's probably a cognitive bias that describes this.Whenever in Tinchi Tamba, it's a good time. It was indeed cool, dry and mosquito-less out. I jogged on, enjoying the sunshine, the crunchy gravel underfoot and noticing a sea eagle above. Getting near GZ, I ducked off the path and aimed directly at the co-ordinates.Usually for me, I took a route via the grabbiest of spiky plants. Some careful maneuvering and choice words had me through and at the geocache. It took me one-tenth of a second to spot it and one-tenth of a minute to sign my name in the logbook. 13:50 I replaced as found and figured I could jog back and make the rendezvous time. At least I found a much clearer route back to the track. And because I think I'm funny, yeah this gets a favourite point! Thanks for this geocache, Fangsoki
TripleTurmoil, elina_maree and I spent this afternoon caching at Tinchi Tamba. We found 16 challenge caches, 6 trads and completed the AdLab and bonus cache. It was perfect weather, the tracks were all fairly dry and there were no mozzies at all today, just heaps of kangaroos. We encountered more roos on the way to this cache and we tried to skirt around them which found us battling our way through thorny vines to get to the cache. There was random traffic cone nearby that I thought would make an awesome cache hide but I didn't want to lug it around with us so I decided to leave it there. Not long after we found this simple cache. I actually don't mind a simple cache if it brings me to an awesome place like this. Thanks for the cache Fangsoki!
BrisyCat and Elina_maree were heading to Tinchi Tamba to collect a pile of challenges and invited me to join them. It was about a 3 hr amble through the spelling the month challenges and everything along the way. Quick find.
Found with Brissy Cat & TripleTurmoil. Lots of kangaroos around. Had a laugh about the fact that this cache, designed to be a cache with one tenth of a favourite point has favourite points!
Out for a ride and this was in fact a great little spot to ride today. Very few people about on a weekday , Absolutely NO, NIL mozzies a real bonus (it has been a cold winter).
Found as were doing the loop of challenges today - probably similar to everyone else TFTC.
TFTC smile20134 Out and about on a Sunny day grabing a cache to try and keep a challenge going signed as GS1947 on small logs Thank you Fangsoki for placing this cache for our enjoyment
After attending the Birthday event today, I joined forces with the usual geofriends to grab some caches while in the area.Pleasant walk in (trying to miss the wet patches) and at GZ made a quick find.Log signed cache returned.Came across a mob of kangaroos with babies which was nice.TFTC Fangsoki
This was a quick and easy find with a bit of a walk. Made sure I had my mozzie repellent before heading off. Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC
Joined geofriends to grab a couple of caches whilst in the local area, and this one was on our to-do list.Thank you, Fangsoki, for this good hide.
The mozzies must be on holiday today. A pleasant walk in. Vines tried to grab us but missed. Found and signed the log and returned to where found. On the way out a mob of Mrs roos with joey's in pouch crossed our path. Each mob had a big buckaroo guarding his harem. We assured him we were harmless. Thanks Fangsoki for adding another cache for us to find. All good with this cache.
Caching after the event with the team. This was another cache for the June challenge. We took the track into the area and battled through the cobblers pegs and thorny vines. O our return we were greeted with a large number of kangaroos carrying babies who were watched over by the big bucks. Incredibly they just watched us walking by.TFTCache Fangsoki
After a birthday event we came across to Tinchi Tamba. This one wasn't too far in today. Log signed and cache replaced as found at 2:39 PM on June 29, 2024. TFTC, Fangsoki.
Well the last 30 meters seemed to take some time. Spotted and tried to sign the log while not getting too deep in the marsh. TFTC
Tip to self..don't let Barb navigate. I wanted to go in via the big gate, but she said it would be nicer taking the boardwalk. So what turned into what should have been a 30 minute walk turned into an hour round trip. After dodging all the puddles we finally found our way back to the good track. Getting close to GZ it was time to leave the path.We must be getting close because we're back in water. I guess it wouldn't be a Fangsoki cache without a little water Cache spotted, log signed as Team B.TFTH
date day oh look water ... we must be close i love this area and any reason to come visit and see the roos is good with me
Out and about early this morning to pick up a few caches that have been on my radar for awhileArrived at a safe place to park the car and then made my way to ground zero where. Quickly located the prize. After extracting the log I made my mark and replaced the cache back in its hiding place. Returned to the car after being bitten by tonnes of mozzies.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.Cheers
#5678 [17:49] whenever we come to brisbane with kids, we go here where we have a guarantee to see kangaroos. wow, it's already third visit with them! and so no change this time - first walk, first aussie geo-point. as usual many of kangaroos around as well as mozzies at this time of day so no time to stop, make our common circle and log this "new" cache thanks fangsoki to keep this area geo-active and always bringing some points
It is 7:10 am. I have, again, ventured down from on top of the hill called Toowoomba. I am so close to completing another loop of my D/T grid. So, I am chasing certain D/T combinations today to complete this loop and advance a few combinations for future loops. This is a target cache for today. Mainly because I am walking past it to get to another cache. One cannot just walk past an unfound cache. Log sheet signed. Onto the next one. Thanks for the cache.
Happy to find this cache and be able to log it. Cache number 4 logged as found today with only being able to sign the logs of the others! TFTC
It looks like Roos sleep here. A couple hopped away when I approached GZ. Thanks for the cache Fangsoki
Accio 17:35:19A lovely little walk to stretch sore legs with T4mmmy. So so many mozzies and kangaroos it was nuts - but no issues with this great little cache in keeping with the theme of this bushland. Thanks Fangsoki for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11886}*
Taking a leisurely walk around the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands and Deep Water Bend Reserve today and using the opportunity to find a cache or two.Enjoying my stroll around finding some of the Challenge caches in the area. Great to log a traditional amongst them all.TFTC. TNLN. SL. TBs Prado Owl and Scarface visited.Find # 1787.
Just a little detour on my quest of signing logbooks for the challenges here. Cache was quickly located, the log signed before moving on & away from those pesky mozzies. TFTC
Fangsoki I found your cache One Tenth of a Favourite Point on 29/11/2023, 9:20am. This is my find 6256 and find # 1 today. Found it after a brief search with the help of the hint. Take mosquito repellent. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
### Tinchi Tamba Wetlands ###Today we went on a lovely tour of the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands. We found this box in beautiful natural surroundings. Thanks for the cache say team sissifalke
I dont usually chase {FTF} but I was already looking at the map, deciding which cache to collect for todays find to continue my streak. I was just considering attempting the newish nearby multi when the notification came through so it was a no brainer to try for this one. I knew there were a couple of enthusiastic FTF chasers in the general vicinity so was happy to see the parking area empty on my arrival. I always enjoy walking in these wetlands, nice and flat so not too taxing and today, not too many mosquitoes either. I was a little concerned about the recent rains but it was dry underfoot all the way to GZ today. The cache was found nice and quickly thanks to accurate coords and the blank logbook now bears my name. This one is certainly worth more than a tenth of a favourite point, just for the enjoyable place to walk. Thanks Fangsoki
29/7/2023 Find #6713NOT FTF!High time I log this cache!! I was with the CO scouting out the area when we found the location for this cache and placed it. And didnt have pen on me at the time. However we headed back again to check on it another time and I found it before Fangsoki could even remember the hide. So having visited this location twice now, does that mean I can get 2 tenths of a favourite point? Please??Thanks for the cache Fangsoki.
