TFTC great hiding spot. Awesome views and great place to sit and chill. Fun exploring all the different way points. We learnt lots about the area and its history and saw some great views.

27-Aug-24
Magnificent views. Nice walk

12-Jul-24
There was lots of maths and reading to achieve the final coordinates but it was all worth it for the many amazing views!!the cache was easily located at GZ and would make a nice spot for a picnic in warmer weather. Thank you very much Freddo01 for sharing the spectacular sights and scenery.

Thanks to Fredd01 for this multi.Delightful views even though it was a bit overcast. It is nice to be able to visit these locations and enjoy the scenery.

#145 Nice cache one of the best multis I've found. My favourite lookout in Lakes Entrance. Nice spot for a cache TFTC

Unfortunately we started this a little late in the day and it was dark by the time we got to Waypoint 3. We managed to find all the information we needed, except one I managed to work out. However, I must have got one wrong at least because the checks sum didnt work out for the south coordinates. In the dark and threatening rain I was desperate so resorted to a PAF who helped me with the wrong number. With the right coordinates we quickly made the find and headed back to Bairnsdale for dinner. Id recommend doing this in daylight, but intentions and actuality dont always match up! Thanks for a great cache, well worth a favourite point. One of the best Multis Ive ever done!

Well this took us to some wonderful views. I enjoy multi caches, gathering the information and locating the container, but the views here made it so much better. I stumbled somewhat in the process, but the helpful CO guided me to success. Thanks Fredd01. A favourite point coming your way.

27-Apr-24
A big thank to Riddell for alerting me to the issue that an information sign is missing from "Waypoint One: Jemmys Observation Point - the Entrance, lake views and information signs". I've made adjustments to the cache notes regarding the information that needs to be gathered or adjusted.

Wow, this is unreal! The first cache we ever attempted in Lakes Entrance was a Trad and it was MIA and you would Not believe the relationship to this find!We cannot say any more but its soo uncanny!Ok, getting back to this one a Favourite Point from us, it has all the wonderful views and the fun working it all out. What more can we say? However, we needed to phone a friend as there is an information board missing one about gas and oil. So CO May need to rejig puzzle slightly to adjust for this.TFTC it did take us to places that we would have missed otherwise

27-Apr-24
See our log from today there is an information board missing at WP 1 about gas and oil.PAF was required

This cache wasn't part of my day plan. That change when Sharon14 text me.She Asked if I & d@geo wanted to Lakes for caching and lunch. After texting to see d@geo wanted to go to, we set times for picks. We visited the last way-point, but we already has a good idea where it was, sort of.After playing with a different geocaching app, as the older app had fail for some of us.This also gave time for the muggles to move on, only to be replaced with more muggles. In the end we made the find.Thank you for the multi Fredd01

The cache container is back in place. Happy caching...........

16-Mar-24
I was recently in Lakes and investigated the building works at GZ - there was still a few minor adjustments occuring. I'm hoping that by Easter all work will be completed and I can put the cache back in place.

13-Jan-24
Hi All,The area is temporarily open for the Christmas holidays, there is more work to happen. I recently had a look at the area but there are still many temporary structures in place. I'm keeping my eye on this one - just need to play the Patiences Game for a little longer.

10-Dec-23
Have just had a go at checking this cache only to find the structure that it was hidden in has been replaced AND the area is still a works site - not accessible by road. The cache container has vanished. Am hoping I can re-hide in a few weeks. The works are looking close to being finished.

09-Oct-23
We targeted this cache when we saw that we'd be passing close by. Unfortunately, the road to GZ is fenced off at present for road works, with signs warning people to keep out. We didn't fancy attempting the Feathertop approach so gave it away for another day. Our thanks anyway to Fredd01.

Found 5:08 pmThe area is under redevelopment but there is a way thru to GZ and a nicely hidden cache soon in hand. Nice views too.TFTC Fredd01

Date: 29 September 2023 Time: 5:11 pmFind #14216Stopped in on the way to dinner. Not the easiest to access atm, but got there in the end and not too long later the cache was in hand.Massive thanks go to Fredd01 for placing this one.

After locating the information at the first three waypoints we decided to leave the last one until the weekend as it was very busy with workers. So arrived today and had the place to ourselves. Got the info needed, crunched the numbers and was looking in the wrong spot at first then thought like a geocacher and sure enough there it was! Took a fit bit to extract the cache as it was a tight fit but managed in the end.TFTC

We really enjoyed all of the vistas on this cracking day. After gathering most of the information required, we collectively got our heads together and managed calculations that looked viable. We heeded the advice of the CO on the cache page and after exploring some options, feathertop turned the trek to the final into a T4 while micaparamedic and I chose the bush bash route. All three of us avoided being observed by the workers which we were very pleased about. We were also happy to have success at GZ so our calculations were very viable.

On a caching adventure today with feathertop and micaparamedic.

Thanks for placing the cache Fredd01. A favourite from me. Happy Cachemas.

A beautiful place to visit this morning. With Mclookers and micaparamedic.
The waypoints were visited though of course avoiding the fenced off tower.
Did a reasonable calculation then I embarked on a stiff climb whilst the others went around the other way.
All good at gz and no workers in sight.
A favourite point for the experience

Roaming Howie has made it through to Waypoint 4 (it's amazing what some Cachers will do to write their name on a log sheet Big Grin). On his advice, I'll enable the cache BUT take care when accessing Waypoint 4.

04-Sep-23
Unfortunately, I need to disable this one for a short time. East Gippsland Shire have decided that the area needs a new toilet block and have blocked off all access to Jemmy's Point. Thanks to 999Hunter and gwd.aussie for their messages. Hopefully it won't be out of action for too long

Day 2. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip.

Staying in Bairnsdale overnight it was time to explore nearby before heading over the border.

Having moved on to Lakes Entrance, this was first on my list. I widowed all of the amazing waypoints and collected the information while enjoying the views.

That was until I reached waypoint 4, or didn’t reach it I should say. The road to the location is closed with fencing all around due to ongoing construction.

I had a look at the info I already had, and set about working out if I could calculate GZ without it. It turns out I got all the numbers except for the final digit in east! A pretty narrow window. Now where was GZ?

There was a slim chance it might not be inside the exclusion zone, so I tried one way, but it was not particularly conducive to accessing the cache.

Instead I made one last attempt from another direction. This looked much more promising and it turns out the fenced off area was smaller than it looked.

Accessing it in this manner is definitely a different terrain rating (I’m not suggesting it should change), but it led me to the cache, which is OUTSIDE the construction zone, for now! That said, it is visible from the zone, so picking the right time to visit is important to maintain the hides integrity.

I’ve sure earnt this smiley, and you’ve earnt yourself a favourite point!

Thanks Fredd01 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

What do you do on an early Sunday Father's Day morning? Go geocaching of course. I always enjoy the early morning when the only people up are the essential workers, or the exercise nuts, none who ever bother me in bushes, or crawling under benches.

The sun still beat us up, but not by much, and not many other people up meant all geocaching searches were easy.

Logging with permission of the CO. Way Point 4 is still all locked up, with no sign saying ETA that I could see. Might need a CO rethink for the short (long?) term.

Thanks for the cache Fredd 01

While on a day out to have lunch at Lakes Entrance, we try to complete this cache.
But at stage 4, we found that Jemmy's Point Lookout area is fenced off.

So we will have to return for another lunch sometime, after the area has re-open.

This geocache was one of the primary reasons for us stopping in Lakes Entrance for a couple of nights.

Some awe-inspiring views. Lots of nice properties. And an overlook of our accommodation.
All good reasons to do this TDOC23 multi.

MacGuyer helped us at the end.

Third to find, with +Wife and EveTheStaffy.

Thank you for this fine addition to the series.

We are heading to Canberra to catch up with friends for a couple of days caching and we decided to leave early and take the more scenic route and grab a few caches along the way.

We are mainly concentrating on Ad Labs, virtual's and earth caches as they don't give us muggle problems.

We made an exception for this TDOC23 cache and we certainly made hard work of it. First off obviously we were coming from the wrong direction so had to do a uturn to head back to wpt1 which turned out to be the first of three more trips to the roundabout and back up again.(future finders, read carefully)
After our first set of co-ords had us away out in the ocean we wandered back and started over to work out what we had done wrong. Once we found out our mistake we headed off to a much better looking gz where we found the cache quickly but couldn't retrieve it, so back to the car for a TOTT and not long after that we happily added our name to the log and returned everything as it was.

Many thanks Fredd01 for the views, the hide and for adding to this great TDOC23 series

Returning to East Gippsland from a few days in Wangaratta with work, HeliKelli alerted me to a new cache released as part of the 12days of Cachemas in Lakes Entrance. 4 1/2 hours later I found myself looking at the stunning views across the entrance and gathering the information for the cache.

Having gathered the information from the waypoints and taken in the spectacular views that this area has to offer the final GZ was calculated. A recheck of the coordinates and x check by HeliKelli resulted in a query to the CO re the final GZ and it was identified that there was a minor error on the Descriptor Calculations and once modified, the cache was quickly located. The CO is addressing the error.
