It is time to archive this one as I am not in a position to replace it. There are now lots of other caches in the area so the game will not suffer from its absence. Thanks to all who visited.
In light of the previous log I must disable this cache in the short term. It would be great if a local could adopt it and place it in a more suitable location otherwise I will have to archive it.

We were advised by the gardeners at the Clive square cache that they have removed this cache because of ground disturbance around it. we visited the site but obviously it was not there.
Just recently I opened an online account, therefore this late logging. Found this cache together with 2whiskers on Jan 02.
No trade.
Thanks a lot.

Have spent four days here in Napier. Enjoyed the Art Deco weekend - we will be back. Found this one at night with a nice view of the city lights. No. 25 for our stay here in NZ, thanks for the adventure.

Carpark was very full but just managed to squeeze in. With everyone looking at the view on this beautiful afternoon there was not too much difficulty being discrete about the find and retrieve. Many thanks

We went to the "tourist feature" and then to the cache. A quick find. The sign on the toilet cracked us up as we parked... there are some wicked kiwis out there!

Muggles abounded on a fine afternoon but we managed a quick find between times. A difference in GPS positions here so Caroleetess beat me to this one.

Muggles everywhere. A couple lying on the grass at the foot of the tree didn't appear to wish to be disturbed.
nice easy find, the cache is in good condition and dry.

Found it with ease, second cache in NZ. Great view, lovely day.
Dropped off Castor TB, a tight fit, and took a game to make room for him.

I found it! Last week I tried, but darkness fell. In the light an easy find, and oh so many thanks to TJWOOKIE for restoring the cache a couple of weeks ago (it had disappeared). We need a name for people like TJ - something that reflects the job of a "cache restorer". A little I guess like an archeologist. Cacheologist?
Left a presssed leather coaster imprinted with a wine varietal leaf. Took nothing - so as to build the cache up. The little China doll was almost camp - I did want it!
Invitation to visit my first cache "Aquavista" nearby and stay tuned for a second cacheof an "adult variety" in the heart of downtown Napier.

Visitors from Germany. Quick find and lovely weather. Nothing traded - thanks for the cache!
Visitors from Canada. Enjoyed the view. Nicely hidden cache. It was lightly raining with a very strong wind so we didn't have any muggles around to see us. TNLN.
Good hike up here from the waterfall below. I particularly enjoyed the walk through Sturm's Gulley - it was a nice finale. TNLNSL.
Eventually found the cache, didn;t realise that there was a road up there.
Took the chocolate bar and left a mini boardgame.

Our third cache for the morning - a good hide. Took "James Tiberus" TB and left a sewing kit
Easy find, great view. Did the art deco tour after this. Highly recommended. Took nothing, left Aussie stats brochure. Thanks.
On holiday from Adelaide in South Australia, could not help myself wanting to get some International logs. this was a great location near where we were staying. Took the walk from the base of the hill as we were unaware you could drive to the location. Stupid Ozi!! The walk was good and I guess we saw a lot more than others. Left a Mondo Doll and took a Teddy to enjoy a trip to Australia.
Still there and in good condition
Loads of people around as it was a nice sunny day.
Left one of 2 TB's here

I have been in contact with Alex, and myself (rick-a-mortis or tgawookie will put it back in place in the near future. it was checked by tgawookie yesterday 05/06/04 and found to be missing. We have had permission to do so from Alex the owner of this cache.
We hope it lasts a bit longer than the last, as it's not nice to hear that a cache has been trashed.
cheers rick-a-mortis
thanks tgawookie for your help on this one.

After hearing that this cache may have been raided, I hought I would check on it since I had found it before.
The cache had gone, so I have put in a new one. It is slightly smaller, but still in the same location.
People need to make sure that it is well hidden after they have replaced the cache as this is a VERY!!! busy area.

The chalk writing is definitely not a good sign. I certainly have placed multi-coloured in caches but I can't remember for sure if this was one of them.
I'll keep the cache online until someone can confirm its status, hopefully the container and log may be scattered around nearby.

Was here with friends and only had time for a quick search, so don't want to post this as a no-find as didn't do a proper search. Did check around the base of the only large tree near the coordinates (about 5m away from a large green fence). What was worrying was that there was multi-coloured chalk graffiti on the fence saying "Found your chalk. Ha Ha!" Can anyone confirm if there was chalk in the cache?

It was a bit complicated to drive up the hill on this hot and sunny day. But finally we found the way with our campervan. We enjoyed the
View to the harbour, and found the cache exactly at the given coordinates. It was a bit muddy, so we cleaned it. Now it is in good condition again.

Great spot for an easy to find cache.
Good views, worth the detour.
Took nothing, left 2 coins from the Canary Islands, 1 x 25 peso and 1 x 25 centavo (tried to stay with the bird theme).
The cache is in good shape.

Amazing town, with an interesting history. I can't begin to imagine a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. I was hoping to get a view of the city, but was none the less fascinated by the loading and unloading of ships in the harbour. Easy find, especially as the colour of the lid stands out. TNLN.
Got to Napier quite late and pitched our tent and thought we could find this one before getting some tea. We drove around a fair bit before finding our way up the hill but when we got there we were rewarded with some great view. Even though it was 9pm we had to find the cache quickly, keeping out of sight of the crowds of people all over the area.

What a fabulous view, though I see what others have meant about a street map having helped - a real maze to get there! Found the cache easily, took a keyring/pin and left a party popper and a pen. On our way up to Mahia for holidays, what a shame there are not more caches around here or further up. Happy New Year to all!!!
Lovely spot
Knew the likely area so drove to very close - helps that I grew up in Napier.
No exchange.

Found it after we had driven up the hill with the car. Traded nothing. After finishing the cache-hunting we had some wonderful hours visiting the nice and "hilly" town of Napier.

When I entered the co-ordinates for the cache it said I was only 1.3km away so I figure that should be a quick walk. That was a mistake not knowing the hills and streets of the area round trip took me over 2 hours. I got my exercise on warm spring afternoon. Took nothing left a few Canadian souveniers.

Found it . It was a bit busy at the time so I didnt want to expose it. I will return another day to fill out the log. Great view though
[I went looking for the cache yesterday ( Monday 7/7/03 ) and got lost as my GPS ( Garmin eTrex ) showed the cache as being in the] Napier Port , a non-public area [:) But I found the cache and put in a broken ( sorry ) lighter and my sister took the frog , it is now growing on our kitchen . Went with my sister and grandmother .

A business trip to Napier came up so I consulted nzcaches.tk and there it was... the only cache for miles!! Someone really should tell the folk in Hawkes Bay about Geocaching..
It wasnt hard to find and was a great spot.. Took a spider thing and left some cash..
Next time I head that way I will stash a fistfull of caches myself.. there are some really neat places..

Nice to be first!
A nice view and easy find - was hardly out of the vehicle before my two sons had found it! (Next time though, I'm going to hold the GPSr and they can find the pen and the camera and other essential geocaching gear... )
Adam (Crunchie) swapped spider from Lake View at Roturua for key ring, and Sean swapped a phone card ($3 remaining value) for the booklet about map reading.
