Solved the coords easily then walked along the causeway, found some more caches, and then did this one. It was an easy find despite the coordinates seeming slightly off. FP given for the fun puzzle and cache hide. TFTC!
Cache is here, the theme penguin is here. There is now a geo trail leading right to the cache. You are looking for a 5 liter screw top container. You even get a nice view, as per picture
Could not find it after a bit of long search. I do not know why the CO makes this cache so hard to find in such a remote area.
I arrived in Victor Harbor yesterday afternoon. After booking into a central motel, I took a short walk to change a previous DNF (it was missing last visit) to a find, and to work this one out. I had guessed where I would end up. Today I took the longer walk to log this and some other caches. Great sized cache, and cache and log are good. As mentioned before, the coordinates are a little out. My Garmin had six metres. Just follow the maze of geo-trails. One will lead you to the very nice cache. TFTC sir_spectre.
Who knew that penguins lived up here in the bushes? Not us.Found by the Aussie branch of Dobie's Pride on a day trip to VH. TFTC!
Visiting the Adelaide region for a week from Port Macquarie. Today was yet another very long day. We headed south towards Victor Harbor, over to Cape Jervis, and then back up the coast, plenty of caches were found, and tons of adventure lab questions answered. We had an especially fun and very productive day and were left feeling very tired but satisfied by the end. Managed to calculate coords that matched the sums first go, always nice when that happens. GPS had us a bit off but soon located the cute camo. Thanks for the cache
Love this hybrid mailbox. Had it all . A walk with a stunning view and our first penguin for the day Thanks sir_spectre for the hide
It's been a while since we last visited Granite Island, however we do usually visit quite often. It used to be every school holidays!Today we were able to get smileys on the AL, the Virtual and sir_spectre's (and Mini Maker's) two that have appeared on the map since mid-2021.Love the handiwork. Added all the stamps to our Letterbox book.TFTC sir_spectre.
The grandkids enjoyed helping and finding this cache today. We enjoyed our walk around the island. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Thanks for the cache! We did not see any penguins or whales on our tour of beautiful Granite Island but we saw a shingleback instead. Quite impressive! The box was quickly found and the log book signed.
Headed to Victor Harbour with my tiny human today and managed to look for this cache after some encouragement ("bribe with ice cream"). I spent a little bit of time have a search while it threatened to rain but once found I got my assistant to do the retrieval as part of the experience! I have had the coordinates for this one for a while so it was nice to tick it off the list. TFTC sir_spectre.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Staying in beautiful Port Elliot for a few days to cache the area. Walked out to the island doing the LAB along the way - bit breezy but not raining at least. Thanks for the find. LCNU
Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. Spending the day sightseeing in Victor Harbour on a cool, blustery but dry day. TFTC LNCU
Took a walk out here. Looked around for the missing cache and all i found was rat bait traps. I guess Parks and Wildlife have found and removed the cache while placing the rat traps. I didn't have a spare letterbox, so the cache now is a 5 liter screw top container with a peanut butter container inside. The theming isn't as good as the original but it was all i could find. Please leave the stamps in the cache, they are not swag.
Replaced and ready to be found again. Remember that the stamps aren't swag and leave them with the cache.
Well this cache seems to be missing. I will walk over and check on this one in a couple of weeks. I just need to recover from covid first.
Nope. Check sums checked. But nothing at gz we could find, esp in a regular size. Three of us searched well beyond the 50m mark in all directions. Much undergrowth and many dead trees, bushes, bits of timber. We found many rat? poison boxes which looked like good caches until closer investigation. Maybe an animal or park ranger may have disturbed it ??? I guess we'll be back. The island keeps giving!
DNF at 12:01 PM. Checked all around, but couldn't find anything. A regular sized container should not have been that hard to locate.
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - Sir Spectre [^]
#19610 - 12:38:00 PM; Day six of a road trip taking the long way to Adelaide from the National Capital with the geohoney. Arrived in Adelaide last night and today we headed to Victor Harbour to visit the webcam cache and collect some newer caches on Granite Island. Managed to collect all three of the target caches, plus a couple of extras. This one was the first cab off the rank and after collecting the required information and undertaking a calculation, I headed over the causeway to GZ. Checked some options before heading further afield where the cache was located. After signing the log, the cache was returned as found. A fave for the effort here! TFTC sir_spectre
Solved the location prior to arriving in Victor. A nice but chilly walk across. At GZ geokid found it first. Nice, FP for you
During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we travel today from Halls Gap to Victor Harbor.Once we arrive at our hotel, there is still time to explore Granite Island. We looked for the information for this letterbox and the cache was found.**sir_spectre**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Singapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. Today we drove from Halls Gap to Victor Harbor from where we will take the ferry to Kangaroo Island tomorrow. After we got settled in our hotel we had a very nice walk to and on Granite Island. We passed the penguins sign and naturally wanted to help and save them a swim. The necessary information was retrieved and corrected thanks to the check sums. Once at GZ the cache was found quickly without any problem. Thank you very much for this fun letterbox.
Found while staying in Victor Harbor for a few days. Headed out in the afternoon for a walk across to Grantite Island, back into town, then a quick trip around the district to search for a few caches along the way. Thanks for the cache sir_spectre!
An Easter long weekend at Encounter Bay in a very nice house overlooking the Bluff and Granite Island.Todays focus was on a visit to Granite Island. Plenty of lab adventures to address but also a few physical caches. We completed our lap around the island but had not walked past GZ, so I left our little group and went back up to complete this one. Nice geotrails lead me straight to the cache despite the coordinates looking a bit out on my phone.Tftc sir_spectre
Today our roadtrip really starts - we'll be driving from Adelaide towards Melbourne along the coast. Our first part today will be Adelaide to Meningie, visiting Victor Harbour and some other places on the way. Great weather, sun, wind and not too hot. Some very interesting places along an ocean we have never seen before. We were tasked with delivering mail to the penguins, and of course we accepted. After a long walk with nice views we found the postoffice and stamped the logbook. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
Two confused geaocachers went out on a Wednesday Wander. The day started with ttrogg picked up Mrs Rat from the Rat's nest.We wandered down to Victor Harbour. Before walking on the new causeway, we gathered or info.Did the calcs and wandered over to find cacheEnjoyed the cache hide.Stamped the logbook and replaced as found. Tftc
After picking up the Rat from her nest we went south with Granite Island in mind. Eventually made it onto the island for a shortish walk around. The new Causeway AdLab was my main aim and that was completed on the walk across, followed by a nearby virtual. An oldish physical cache was replaced and a few other selected caches were also found during the adventure, this being one of them.Had managed to get the co-ords reasonably soon after publication, but it's had to wait until today to finally make the find. Thanks to sir_spectre for adding to the playing field with this cache.Cache #14711 for me.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*
I sat with the animals and counted their bits and pieces. Once I had my numbers in place it was off for a stroll and the cache was soon in hand. Good to see the fairy penguins looking after it. TFTC
Nice to find a LBH in the area, and a quick solve ensued before I headed to somewhere else. All good at GZ, just a little further than the GPS said (seemed to be hot and bothered today). Nice camo here, FP for the fun.As often seems to be the case for me lately, today was a game of two halves, so to speak. First up I was keen to get the Bundaleer oldie cache placed in May 2001 which is a missing grid hole in my calendar and which is not available in NZ. I was also keen to get down to Victor Harbour and make a find on that Webcam cache, and hopefully also pay a visit to the interesting Granite Island. Both aims were achieved, not massive numbers due to travel times between, but definitely sighted some awesome country again and plenty more seen and enjoyed. Thanks to the SA COs for their hides and ongoing maintenance.
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave me a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached with them and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we are exploring the wonderful Victor Harbor and surrounds. This one took some time to locate and it wasnt until we headed further in than our GPS was indicating, that we finally spotted the cache. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
Date: March 2, 2024 Time: 10:34 AMFind #14840After parkrun on the mainland, I headed over here for a lap of the island. A fun morning in wonderful weather.Massive thanks go to sir_spectre for placing this one.
After a huge day and many miles of caching yesterday and attending the Great Leap Forward mega event in Adelaide, we spent this morning leisurely exploring the wonders of Granite Island before starting our journey towards home in Western Victoria this afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this island, from the horse drawn tram ride there, to discovering all the trails and admiring the spectacular views along its coastline. It was a glorious morning weather-wise too, which helped. Found this cute letterbox tucked away in its hidey place, after disregarding our GPS that wanted to take us closer to the track. TFTC sir_spectre.
# 9260 It's my last full day in Adelaide. I felt the need to get out of town again, so I headed south to Victor Harbor, stopping on the way at Wilunga. One of the best things about today was that there was a cool breeze blowing. Spent some time on Granite Island but didn't see any penguins. Victor Harbor is a lovely place and seems geared up for big crowds of tourists. Luckily that was not today Nice. Thanks sir_spectre for the Letterbox Hybrid
Found with loci612 on our Mega SA Trip. Signed dsd or AB. Not sure of the exact day we found this cache bit it was sometime between 20th Feb and 20th March. Thanks for the cache and the Adventure.
Granite Island mail2.0/2.5 Regular Letterbox Hybrid Thank you for the cache sir_spectre.Back in Adelaide after 14 years. Here for The Great Leap Forward Mega and catching up with awesome caching friends and revisiting Adelaide where we lived for 16 beautiful years! Had a wonderful time reminiscing and admiring wonderful changes in the State, meeting friendly cachers and helpful COs and finding quality caches, high D/Ts and old ones. Today is leap day, I teamed up with BenM70 unexpectedly and what a trip we've made to Victor Harbour hopping from webcam, to virtuals, letterbox, multi, earthcache, etc. This was 1 fav cache!
I'm enjoying a good walk about on Granite Island. Although, the weather specialists at Google said it'd be a cool 25 all day - the liars!! I got a tad burnt and had a wonderful three days recoveringthe things we do for this hobby. Cache was found all good, an excellent and cute container.
After doing the whole will I or wont I I decided to organise flights with 3 days to go but got it sorted. So with minimal planning and the tiniest amount of sleep this is happening. Coming down from Townsville I hit the ground unexpectedly finding out that Penguins was back up so that was the first point of call for the slapped together team up with E ! From then a few more types were going to happen and somehow we ended up here. Not bad for no preplanning if I do say so myself Who said the penguin colony no longer exists. Nice final. Thanks sir_spectre for placing this Letterbox Hybrid for our geocaching enjoyment
How very exciting the big trip has finally arrived! Down from Brisbane with a host of other geo friends with plans aplenty, enough to almost see us needing to extend or make a return visit. Our geonick for the trip is BOLD7 which is guaranteed to save the log paper for the 7 individual members of the team. As we make our way around sadly there wont be time for the usual individual logs and therefore just the old generic log will have to do. With little extra notes here and there if needed. Thank you for your cache which has added to my wonderful caching holiday. Will check for qualifying back at home later.
**Today**Today myself and DSD woke up in Murray Bridge and headed straight to Mannum for the Amazing Breakfast event! It was another great little catch-up before we returned to Murray Bridge to grab some caches in town. Our main goal of today was to find the webcam cache at Victor Harbour, so we focused our day on getting there, caching locally, and then heading into Adelaide for the first official mega side event at the parklands! It was a successful caching day in & around Victor Harbour, we even managed to get one of the best webcam photos the cache page has ever seen! Thanks to all the COs -**This Cache**We struggled with WP1 of this letterbox, but it was probably due to the harsh sun / heat and lack of shade. We spent about 10 minutes working it out trying to get the right coords, unsure what to include for the topside, underside, head and tail. With the checksums we managed to get some numbers to work! Really glad we did too, because the final cache was awesome and made up for it! A great themed hide from this incredible CO once again! TFTC

Alltid hyggelig med et nytt smilefjes p kartet.????Cachehilsen fra Ellen Sch, Norge????????????Me and MrVon sr have come down to Australia and New Zealand, -an old dream has finally come to an end. Team Eika and Ingsve have also traveled with us on this trip.We have been traveling cross-country for a month, and the goal is to end up in Adeleide and mega-event on the leap year. We have especially looked for old caches, to fill jasmer'n, for a couple of pieces, and for the other two of us who have started to think about reviewing more. The vast majority of them showed up at their places, sometimes we had to search a bit, but we were usually lucky in the end. There were also some DNFs.????We have mostly logged in with the common nickname N4 (ingsve, Von sr. TeamEika and Ellen Sch), but our own nicknames are also used.A big thank you to all you CO's for laying out and maintaining your caches. Without their work, we would never have been able to make a living with this hobby.Always nice to have a new smiley face on the map.????Cache greetings from Ellen Sch, Norway????????????
As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip.
Found with FUF009. A truly hot and stinky day. This was supposed to be our chill out day but didnt turn out that way.It was 33C at the time we left the house! We stayed later than planned due to wanting to get some caches in the cooler time.We sought out caches that were in bushy or shady spots as much as possible. This area is lovely.Tftc
The SQUIRM team has travelled from Brisbane for the MEGA.We are here for a week and a bit, of Fun, Fringe and caching. After tackling some caches in and around the city area yesterday, today sees us heading to Victor Harbour via. . . who knows where??. We have no deadline to be there by, and that's probably a good thing ????. Thanks for the cache.????
Find # 13613I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Found with sharkiefanSigned as FUSHDay 3 heading down Victor Harbor way grabbing some good DT combos and others.Took a bit to locate in the dark. Found at 2022H. Hint helped.TFTC sir_spectre
I calculated this one before setting out but I think the leafy sea dragon fooled me. A message to CO had me in the right direction though. Im glad I persisted because this was a really cool find. While I was finding it there were police vehicles stationed nearby about 50m away but I managed to sneak in to grab it without being spotted. Never found out what the police operation was about, but they cleared out shortly after I found this cache. Maybe someone had reported suspicious geocaching activity?Dunno!TFTC
Our first day of caching towards Adelaide to join in the festivities of the Leap Day Mega. Targeting exciting caches along our route we traveled uncharted locations really enjoying the sights each cache took us to.A fun letterbox with a nicely themed final. Signed the logbook as we were enjoying a terrific walk around Granite Island, despite the heat. A favourite point added. Thanks sir_spectre for the letterbox placement.
A nice stroll to the island and stopping to have a cuppa near the breakwater. Thanks sir_spectre.
Super cute! Loved the guardian for this mailbox. We got lucky last night and found another couple half way solving the puzzle. We then helped confirm the thoughts on the second half as there was some discussion around what the question was asking.
The third full day in South Australia for The Six Queenslanders Unsupervised In Radelaide MegaingWere back in Staceys Mum concentrating south of Adelaide with Victor Harbor being the target for the day plus oldies, D/Ts, rare cache types and anything else that might grab our attention as we step over itAs usual, its never a direct route its taken about four hours to get here Thank goodness for the checksumLogs stamped SQUIRM Thanks sir_spectreFind #10944

Its day 4 and Team SQUIRM are off to Victor Harbor, we are just taking the very scenic route. We have finally arrived in Victor Harbor and made it over to Granite Island, one of the main reasons for visiting the area. We sussed out the numbers before heading over to the island. Its a stunning area and are so glad we got the chance to walk around the island. Tftc sir_spectreFind #5501
I have to be honest, I thought we'd messed this up as we couldn't see it anywhere. After expanding our search SSR came across the container not too far away. Thanks sir_spectreThe usual trio of myself, stainless steel rat and Budgietas was joined by Tassie Trekkers for The Great Leap Forward trip. We decided to cache down south around Goolwa, Victor Harbour and extended reaches for a few days, before basing ourselves in Glenelg for the second half of the trip where we cached around the city, the hills and the Barossa Valley with a highlight being a couple of hours on Adventure Island. Many thanks to the Mega Committee, all the helpers and many local COs who kept up busy and entertained. Most logs were stamped with Team Tassie.
This was a nice find that took us a number of counting's to get correct. This was the first trip to the mainland for this group of Tasmanians in a while, we flew over on the 24th and left early on the 3rd. With 4 days in Goolwa followed by 4 in Glenelg we managed to get some caching done in different areas and pull in a select list of caches we all almost all needed, old caches were on the list as normal but also some different D/Ts with some high fav pointed cache making up the remainder. The trip didn't start well with Qantus losing a bag which made us rearrange a couple of days but we got some 4WDing in and a even some driving on the beach to get a couple of different caches, boat trip to Adventure Island was a great start on the day of the Mega too.All caches were stamped "Team Tassie" which consisted of myself, gooseandegg, Budgietas and Tassie TrekkersFound on 25/02/2024 at 17:15:00 thanks to sir_spectre for placing this cache for me to find. TFTCFavourite point for the containerCache was stamped with Team Tassie, being Gooseandegg, stainless steel rat, Tassie trekkers and myself.-Day two of our (stainless steel rat, Tassie trekker, goose and egg and myself) caches around goolwa and victor harbour. Some brilliant old and especially high d/t caches were found. One of the highlights of the day was the really cool victor harbour travel bug campground and of course the walk to granite island. Today is day 2 of our SA Great Leap Forward Mega adventure. Based at Goolwa, Mr T, Gooseandegg , Stainless-Steel-Rat and Budgietas concentrated on finding caches with appropriate D/T 's to fill their Fizzy Grids and this was one of them. We signed the log Team Tassie. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
We solved this last night but decided to wait until today to find as we were going to be here today anyway. Bullertrout, Nanzie and i are caching our way to Adelaide for the mega. Picking up what we can in the time available. All logs are being signed as BT, N, PC or some variation of that to save space. TFTC sir_spectre#15323

Day #3 Leaping Forward AdventuresAfter an early morning wake up call by the Cockatoos at the aptly named Cockatoo Lake (I really should pay more attention!!!), and a morning chat with TheMorris who I hadnt realised was also setup nearby, it was off for the day.Bumped into some kiwi caches at the posted coords who were collecting the info for an assault tomorrow. At an event at Port Adelaide recently, I was engaging in conversation with Peas&CarrotsForever. They mentioned that they will be going to be down at Victor Harbor for non cache related commitments. I had also been thinking of going down to the region again, so we organised to meet up and go caching on one of the days they were there.I also took Jolly0 down to join us for the day, Sandelf also joined the group. A large merry group for an awesome day. We had lots of laughs, a nice pub lunch and plenty of caches. We started the day off with a walk to Granite Island for some solved mysteries, EarthCaches and an Adventure Lab.We crunched the numbers at the start point and then set off for the island. Once at GZ, we searched for a good while. Eventually, sandelf yelled out that he'd found it. We all signed and were on our way. A very cool cache. Thanks sir_spectre for this letterbox cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3733 on the 3rd of November 2023.CITO's are a brilliant way to help keep our community area's clean. The Earth is our playing field and we need to protect it! Always be sure to cache the "leave no trace" way!**South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Peas& CarrotsForever, sandelf, pineapplegoldy and myself headed up the hill to check the mail A quick find by sandelf and the little fellow watching over the letterbox let us all sign the log book.TFTC sir spectreKeep smiling
What a great little multi! A straightforward puzzle, a brilliant walk to GZ and an amazing cache at the end of it! Have a well earned fave! At GZ there are several trees that look almost dead but only one that actually is!
Was in the area and stopped by to make the find. An amazing place. Took longer then it should have. Thanks

Numbers were gathered and then off we went for a walk.Took a few minutes to work out how to get to the cache but we did eventually.TFTC
Spent the day down at Victor for a drive / beach walk so decided to duck over to Granite Island to grab a few new caches and explore the new causeway. Its been years since Ive been here, so it was good to come back.Did the observations, the checksum smiled, so off I went. Plenty of people down here today with such perfect weather. Got near GZ and then inched my way through the shrubbery (taking the hard way in) and then found the cache - was very careful about dangernoodles with the long grass.Signed the log and then walked the easy way out. I dont think this cache will get muggled soon - its well tucked away. And in a lovely location - I really enjoyed my walk around here! Thanks SirSpectre!

Caravan trip to Victor Harbor, Deep Creek and surrounds, we were camped near Middleton having breakfast and saw this one published.
As it happens, we were planning to go to Granite Island today, so made this our first stop.
We gathered the numbers, after some discussion on some of the definitions... thankfully the checker is there to settle any disagreements), and made our way to GZ.
Coords are good, but access is not straightforward (ignore the black bait station on the way in). Grass is long, so wouldn't fancy being here in snake season, but the find is big enough to locate quickly once in the right area.
