Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. Completed the details the other day while knocking off labs, and came here with the crew tonight to complete. Like the last cacher mentioned, the box lock is stuffed. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers kireevi! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 6. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)

Day 19 of our roadtrip in Australia. We're in Sydney now, so no road tripping the next 3 days, instead a lot of walking. There's so much to see here! And what we love so far, a lot of the caches have very precise hints, very tourist friendly. Today's plan is exploring The Rock, maybe walking over Harbour bridge. Solved the task down at the station and entered the number which was correct on the first try. Opening the cache went fine, but closing it is very difficult. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo

I regret missing out on my chance to see the tunnels around Wynyard when they were opened for Dark Spectrum last year. maybe another time... But today, we caught the train to Wynyard to find this cache. We started on the inside of the opal gates. We collected the information and made our way up into daylight to complete the find. Thanks for the cache!

After staying the night at the Novotel (Bear had a work function), I was able to get up early and find a few more caches around the City before heading into work. A good sized walk turned up a number of finds.Had a great time in the tunnels during Vivid last year. That cache certainly isn't leaving GZ without a fight!Cheers

We stopped by Wynyard Station to collect what was required on our way to dinner at Barangaroo. Tried the numbers at dinner but didnt get a YES from the checker. Took the ferry home. So will think/calculate again and see what we come up with. Cheers Gaztek

Gathered the information then saw the Maths luckily Google came to my rescue- the sort of Maths you cant imagine will ever be useful in later life! My GPS hates all these tall buildings so after finding the rat trap and the sharps box I was so happy to find the cache!! Replaced soggy logs and added treasure. TFTC!

On a rainy saturday I headed into the city for some shopping and why not get some geocaches as well as don't have much time when in for work or socialising to usually do. After some trouble with the numbers matching the checker, I realised I was adding the last digit instead of multiplying and bingo I had the green light. I'm glad I did this on a weekend as very quiet at GZ as would have been busy and to hard to do on a work day. Thanks for this interesting info and cache. FP from me.

Staying in Sydney for a few days. We set out bright and early once again this morning. Today we primarily focused on the CBD area, the weather held up brilliantly and made the perfect day for caching. With some quik maffs, GZ was solved and soon found. The log is wet as others have mentioned. Plenty of birdlife in this park, as well as a single rat that scurried out of the drain and into the bushes. Thanks for the cache

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.Today, we visite on foot a part of Sydney, we walk the streets guided by the caches. Sydney IS very Big.Thanks to the caches we visited many sites evoking Australian culture and history. Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots

I visited WP1 yesterday but struggled to get anything that made much sense. In the end I resorted to a PAF from a previous finder. After a kindly nudge (or more accurately, a bloody great big shove) I had some reasonable looking coordinates.I headed to GZ this morning to find the spot surprisingly free of muggles.A quick search revealed the cache hidden in plain sight. Did what I needed to do and retrieved the log.The logbook is damp but still writable.SL TFTC

My maths skills needed some work but once the calculator came out and the correct number was discovered it was plain sailing. A good multi. TFTC

15-Feb-24
I struggled with exactly what I needed to do here but a more careful reading of the description and a hint as to which way I needed to walk I managed to come up with a number that the checker liked. Then it was off to GZ and I was almost literally standing on top of it in the end. A nice multi once I got past the maths! TFTC!

Did a massive city loop today of 8 caches starting at central and heading around the rocks, and then botanical garden, wooloomoloo and Hyde park. All caches were found!15000 steps - not bad for some incidental exercise even if I did catch the light rail down most of George street. This one took a bit of understanding before I had the right numbers. TFTCNice hide. Maniacally clapping homeless guy nearby

In town for a concert at the Opera House this evening and whilst filling in a few hours collected this cache. Had some issues at the posted coordinates by reading the calculations too literally, but a PAF clarified my errors and then it was just a matter of waiting out the time-out on the checker before the green tick allowed us to proceed to the next location. GZ was busy, but everytone was engrossed in their own little worlds so extraction was an easy task. With the cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. I'm in Sydney today to have Christmas drinks/lunch with some old workmates but I came down on the train earlier in the morning to find some caches that have popped up in the city since my last visit. It didn't take long to come up with the information I needed and then it was off to GZ, where I had no problems in logging the find ... not many muggles around in the middle of the morning. Thanks for a nice multi kireevi.

06-Dec-23
I was here at peak hour, not the best time to be counting but managed to get the numbers, did the calculation and the checker agreed first go. Yay! Made the short walk to gz where the logbook was accessed and signed. Great to have some new caches in the city. Tftc

#19009 - 3:28:00 PM; In Sydney with the geohoney for a couple of days to catch up with friends and see a musical. After breakfast and a little bit of retail, I headed off to collect a few newer caches which have appeared around the CBD since my last visit. Collected the information for this one as I headed towards Circular Quay, but too many muggles for a proper search. Returned when it was quieter and made a quick find. retrieved the log and happily added my name. Nice to have another multi off the list. TFTC kireevi Smile

this multi was amusing.i was actually here hunting down an adventure lab and there was another gentleman nearby staring intently at the wall map.not long later i was doing the same. he came back and pointed to what i needed, but i'd already discovered it at that point and was looking at this multi. i suggested it to him, but with a wry shake of the head and a cheekily murmered too much work, he hastily bid his retreat. which left me to go count turnstyles and read plaques solo. then some trusty websites to concur with my dodgy maths got me some pretty good looking coords.so i scurried over to have a look. cache was discovered quickly and with some knowledge gleamed from the journey i was able to scratch my autograph into the logbook. thanks for a fun and not so difficult multi cache. my 180th multi, and overall find number 4488. 180th

#5825Arrived into the city by bus and hopped off in York St next to Wynyard Station. I had previously calculated GZ so it was a quick find. Actually the geo-missus spotted it first. She's good at doing that. The container was exactly what I thought it would be for this location. The code worked and I soon had my name on the log.Nice to have another find in the city.

I arrived with a few muggles nearby having to wait until they moved on before I could move in closer . I love this bit of history of Wynyard and a excellent log/s by vk2df giving us more of a insight as it was back then . I needed a bit of assistance from PF before I got the green light for some of the answers. A quick grab to get the cache in hand , with the perfect coordinates helped. TFTC Kireevi

Frazeydaze did hard yards with this one during her working day in the City. We also had a few caches in the TFTC series to find so this cache was added to the list. I made a detour to Wynyard on my way to the latest BO'C. I did the counting and found the sign. On the sign, it was a bit confusing as there were 2 dates, but I managed to get the correct digits anyway. Into the checker, and I got the nod.Off to GZ, just as it started to rain, where I soon narrowed down GZ and had the item in sight. Opened up, added my name, replaced and locked up once more. A good city hide, and I'm glad I came when the weather was inclement as there were few muggles about. It could be awkward at lunchtime here. Thought it was awkward enough, having some guy relieve himself in the park as I walked past him! TFTC

#12754 7:15My daily commute takes me to Townhall Station, but for this occasion I got off at Wynyard station, platform 3.I roamed around the station and quickly found the answers to this fascinating story. After getting the green light from the checker it was time to leave the station in search of the cache. That proved to be pretty straightforward and I added my name to the logsheet.TFTC Kireevi!

Then off to GZ where the cache was easily foundIn sydney today catching with a family member down on the waterfront, with a bit of time to kill I decided to find a few unfound caches. Thanks for the cache

After 20 years of catching trains to and from here I was pretty certain of the WP1 calculation without the visit and managed to get GZ not long after this was first released. Couldnt physically get here until today thoughamazing how little attention people pay to whats going on around them! Thanks for a fun new urban cache.

Find #: 3,360Companions: NoneMuggles: A fewWeather: Hot spring morningCache condition: GoodI decided to search for this around lunchtime, which could have been a problem around GZ but thankfully wasnt (holidays?). Anyway, it took a little while to figure out which exit is Exit 1 (I approached from the Kent St entrance), and I correctly assumed that only the first date is required, but otherwise the maths worked well (and made sense). Once at GZ I made a quick find - TNLNSL TFTC

We were really excited to see a cache created themed around the missing platforms. Collected the required information and found the cache without difficulty. Our only regret was that GZ had no relevance to the theme. Thanks kireevi.

The photo in the cache description, purporting to be the location of the former tram platforms, is actually only showing the tram tunnel that leads to the former tram platforms 1 & 2. Attached is a screenshot from an "Abandoned Oz" video that shows the former tram platform's location, viewed from where the tram tracks were once located, and with the tram tunnel seen in the distance.Interestingly these two rail platforms were originally intended for trains to run on a future rail line to the Northern Beaches, with the trams only to be temporary, with ramps having to be installed to raise the trams to train height up at the Harbour Bridge tram stop. But sadly the Northern Beaches rail line never happened, and in 1958 the tram tracks were removed and replaced with roadway, including the demolition of the huge tram/train bridge that used to span the Bradfield Highway's northern entry to the Harbour Bridge.

Today we braved the heat and headed over to Centennial Park with our fishing tackle to rescue a high altitude goat from his lofty perch, and collected some other previously solved Mystery/Puzzle caches and a Traditional cache while we were there. Caught a 280 bus to Chatswood and a T9 train to Central Railway Station, where we spent a while wandering amongst the old trains & buses on display at the Transport Heritage Expo, then hopped on an L2 tram to Royal Randwick to reach Centennial Park. The return journey was via an L2 Tram from Royal Randwick to Wynyard, where we completed a newly published MultiCache at Wynyard Railway Station, then a T1 train to Chatswood and a 280 bus back to home. This was the 5th of 5 finds for the day. After finding some caches out at Centennial Park we hopped on a tram to Wynyard, where we were to catch a train back to Chatswood, but decided to have a go at this newly published MultiCache beforehand. We noticed this new cache popup yesterday afternoon, so promptly noted down all of the details needed to locate final GZ on the back of our paper geomap, as it was too new to have been included in the GPX file download that had already been saved to our Garmin GPSr in preparation for today's caching adventures. But then later on in the evening we looked at the cache listing again and noticed that the cache's GZ locating details had completely changed, so we crossed everything out and rewrote all of the details. Well this morning, just before departing home, we looked once again at the cache listing and were dumbfounded to see that yet again the cache had completely changed, this time partly reverting to elements contained in the very first version of the cache listing. We've never known a cache listing to change so much in such a short space of time, and it was just lucky we checked the live listing before leaving home, but the back of the geomap is now looking a bit messy with all of the scribbling out.Anyway we arrived at WP1 and quickly located all of the (new) required information and had a green light & final GZ coordinates (and some other helpful information) from the Certitude checker, then off to final GZ for a nice quick find of a very familiar cache container. Quickly gained entry and signed the log sheet as 2TF, TNLN, then replaced everything as it had been found. And now it's time for us to commence our homeward journey, with a return to the WP1 Opal gates to board a T1 train to Chatswood.
