We hate to do this because it is such a good cache and has had visitors from all over the world - but - the final cache has been muggled once too often and it is becoming impossible for us to keep up with it - so - goodbye cache!

Definately found the right place (doubled checked with hint when got home), but there was no cache there.
I assume it has been removed for maintenance (or muggled, after reading other logs).
Did this over two days; cycled round the first day, but ran out of light in the evening. Walked around on the second day with a friend. I use these paths frequently, but had never discovered the reserve with the wrought iron 'gates' - nice little discovery.

Finally got around to finish this one. I was down here at the end of March and did most of the waypoints but ran out of time before locating the final. So I had to complete it this time.
One can never leave a cache unfinished!!!.
In: Red snake
Out: Blue crab.
Cheers for the cache.

Had loads of fun on this one. Brilliant. Our second day at geocaching. Many thanks for your efforts
Unfortunately the cache had been muggled. We found the container on the ground near the spot. Contained: logboook, plastic frog and geocaching note. Was also a card from Stargeezer indicating that he'd left a geocoin (limited edition by twisted dragon NY USA.) one of three he'd brought to NZ. Sadly no sign of it. Presummed muggled.

After doing Fendalton yesterday, and every part of this one today, we think that we have covered most of the park and gardens. We did a bit of walking starting at the Heritage Hotel - about 6 miles total.
GREAT cache - you've put a lot of time and effort into this one. Congratulations on this one.
Took - Nothing
Left - "Twisted Dragons" coin from Albany, New York, USA (one of three which will be placed in NZ) and USA pen

Made a visit tonight to check out the cache and add a new logbook and pen.
Knowing that this cache gets muggled fairly regularly we have taken both the TBs and will try to hide them somewhere more secure.

Thought my 100th cache deserved some style, so I took the long route into Bridge #1 Suspect I've now seen more of Hagley Park and the Avon than a lot of the locals. Getting a clear shot at GZ proved very frustrating - heaps of muggles, lots of them on bikes and materialising almost without warning.
Unfortunately the final seems to have been muggled and will need some maintenance: The logbook is missing, and the Wellington or Bust TB was *under* the container, not in it. Don't know what else was in there. The container was completely uncovered (lid secure). Upon returning the cache I just managed to hide it properly with locally-sourced materials before the next onslaught of muggles.
Muggle interference aside - an utterly brilliant cache; fantastic introduction to a gorgeous bit of the city - many thanks!
Added: Bavarian Flag TB

Another long walk while down for the weekend to do some work with my boss. While walking at lower end of park doing other things saw two people with GPS and paper walking around so asked them if they were cachers to find Long-john doing this cache Had a talk and said i would to this cache after lunch to find their name in the log.
No problems finding after long walk of over 40kms this weekend ot find 15 caches
Droping off TB Wellington or Bust.

John thought he could smell a cache as we walked past this last night after Starry Nights!!! Got up early this morning and biked to the park and followed the instructions. Stopped for brunch at the Arts Centre. Thanks very much. TNLN. Long-John

OK - so I cheated... But Oli and Gary did do the big bike ride ages ago, but Oli got tired at the end, and it got dark... And then we lost the numbers...
TNLN, Thanks.
TNLN, Thanks.
The final cache was certainly missing but it replaced now. Hopefully it will stay in place for a while!
I did the walk, located the end spot, but nothing in there? I searched very hard, I don't think I would have missed it - it the cache still there? Jane
Yeah!! The third times a charm. I visit Christchurch annually from the states and each of the other times the cache had been muggled. Today was my lucky day! I loved doing this cache last year. A great tour of the area. Thanks again, Polarnav
Called in this afternoon and replaced the logbook. I rehid the container so that it was better concealed in the hope that it won't get muggled again too soon. Why would anyone take the logbook and leave all the goodies??!!
After this fantastic walk around the park, we headed straight to the hiding place. Good one! Only problem is that there was no log book inside. Left a signed piece of paper to prove we were there.

Did this as a morning run - found the cache but it was fuly exposed and open, log book is missing. I replaced the contents that were still there and hid it back in its hiding place
Checked the cache this evening. The cache was totally exposed and all that it contained was the Travel Bug which we decided to take with us to move on. We replaced, rehid and covered the cache in the hope that it will remain safe for a while longer.
Great fun finding this. We cycled (two adults and two 8 year olds) but note that you cannot cycle through the gardens (the playground area), so cycle around it. We took the pink keyring and left a batman poster and a travel bug. Thanks.
It was just a walk in the park, The sun was shinning, the birds were sing, my grandson was running wild (well at first as he retired to the pushchair). Realy enjoyed the walk and it wasn,t hard, there were lots of people in the park and we enjoyed chatting with some of them. Spring is here the dafodills are looking great.

I have walked past this spot before geocaching, I was surprised how easy it was to find. I wonder if it was in the right hole? TFTC (watch those golf balls!)
I did this one over 3 lunchbreaks, some on foot and some by bike. The co-ordinates for 2 of the bridges are quite a bit out, but it's easy to work it out. Easy calculations and great places to visit in spring. I was able to walk straight to the cache, with good clues. Someone was looking at me suspiciously there, as I tried to look like I always sit and eat my lunch here!
Went for some Birthday caching. Lovely day for a walk around the park to gather the data. Found correct tree and located cache without too much trouble. TNLN. Cheers Sallies, Ridders76.
Yes, we went back and duly found it this time. Thanks Sallies for all the work you've had to do on this one.
No swaps, cheers, Grandalf.

Checked up on this cache today. It had been well and truly plundered! The cache has been replaced with a new container of small goodies. It is within 30cm of its previous hiding place but in a less obvious hole and still well-covered - at least at present. Because of the constant 'muggling' of this cache, and the potential damage to the immediate environment, we will archive the cache if anything else untoward happens to it. So get in quickly you recent seekers and others!!! [:o)]
Hmm, no-one's been here for a while... I'm sure I'm in the right place... I've removed every bit of litter and I can't reach any further. I know it's supposed to be hard to find but this is rediculous... HELP me Iris & Rodney.
James.
James.
That cache was so well hidden at the end - extremely tricky. Very public place, but with the rain tonight, not too many people around. Thanks Sallies
If there was a record for most time between solving and finding then I reckon I'd get it. I solved this cache around Feb/March 03 but I couldn't find it due to muggles/failing light or maybe the cache just plain not being there.... I came back today with none of the original information just a vague recollection of the place my gps had led me to that day (only other thing I remember was that it was VERY cold and I was on my bike [B)]).
Thanks for the (extended) cache challenge.

What a lovely day for a "walk in the park". All that space and the boys enjoyed the run around.
What a great final cache site.

Collected all the clues some time ago, so it was good to find the cache finally. Thanks for replacing it Sallies. This is definitely a small sized cache because there are only small sized nooks and crannies in the final destination. A very pleasant walk around the park.
Checked this cache tonight. Container was missing but is now replaced.

Had a great day walking around the park, but when I got to the tree I couldn't find the cache. I suspect it was compromised. I'll be back in town in a few weeks and I'll check back. Still rewarding to get all the clues and find the spot. Thanks!
Found a building at the final coordinates and a tree in the right direction matching the description, but no cache. Maybe I had the wrong tree because It didn't seem to have a hole big enough to hide a 400ml container? I'll have another look next time I'm in the park. Thanks Sallies.
A great walk around the park. We were delighted when the clues all fitted together and the cache site appeared!

found it this pm after a nice walk on this autium day thx for the maths lesson
The final cache is in a fairly public place and seems to need constant attention!! We found the container uncovered with most of its contents missing. The container is now replenished, repacked and replaced. Happy hunting!

Found it in the rain this morning, without instructions, using a hint provided by Rodney at SpOOk, Ciotach and Varuna's Canterbury Swapover caching event.
Didn't seem fair taking anything without walking through the park first, so no exchange.

When checking caches tonight we found that Bryan and 8 year old Kaelish, found the cache 4 days ago. They wrote a note and returned the cache to its hiding spot. Maybe, more geocachers in the making!!
Checked this cache while we were in the vicinity this afternoon. Thanks to all those who keep recovering this cache - the wind appears to regularly blow the plant litter around. We have left a geocoin in the cache. This was the first such coin that we have seen so it was a special find for us.

This was an exellently put together cache and it is certainly in the spirit of providing a good challenge while at the same time ensuring the seachers gain some knowledge of the seach area. Good one Sallies.
It actually took us about 2.5 hours as we didn't always read the instructions clearly (another good lesson)
We started our seach about 7.30am on what was to be a very hot day in Canterbury. No exchage made
Cheers John K & friends [ Neville Mason & Cameron Rangi (grandson) ]

Our 100th find! (but that's includng events, so 3 more to our real century)
A pleasant day for a slow wander around the parklands and such, looking at bridges and waiting for Mama Bear to fill up a Memory Stick with images of ducks.
The cache was sitting in the open, and had been found by Muggles, who left a nice log. We buried it a bit to make it safer and a little more of a challenge.
Thanks for the stroll, Sallies!

A walk in the park is a great way to end a stressed week. Dalmore and Trinittty achieved the cache find at 6.16 pm on Friday. It had been blowing a Nor'wester, so some of the debris covering the cache had blown off , but still not obvious. Did the trip on foot,, and felt the healt5hier for it ( contemplated a kayak, but that would have been hard work with lots o landins -m not that the water is very deep!
Took scorpion, left archer.
Thanks again Sallies.

Had a great time with Dalmore. It was a very very windy day and many trees had come down. Still I enjoyed the walk around the park. Cache uncovered so we recovered.
Thanks Sallies

The cache is now hidden in a different tree in the same area. Hopefully they won't cut this one down for a while!! I have adjusted the final instructions and put in new coordinates for the cache itself because it is further away from the building than it was before.

Mmm . . . visited just as dark was falling - they have cut down both trees - so close to the ground that it looks as if the stump muncher might be on site soon. So we have taken the cache away - thanks Kiwitony for hiding it. We will disable the cache and rehide it in a slightly different area when the tree crunching work is finished!
Difficult to find the multi tree as it had been cut down but was an interesting find. The box was exposed just below a large chain saw cut, so we placed it about a metre to the west and better concealed. No exchange. Thought this was quite a brain teaser! but enjoyable. This is the first cache that we have found together, having sparked Anita's interest by re-visiting some of the very scenic ones around Christchurch. Thank you.

Checked the cache while at Classical Sparks and found that it had been plundered. Went back today and replaced the cache in a slightly different place - other multi tree.
Good enjoyable walk in the park. Looking back, we were surprised how far we had walked. Will take more bread for ducks next time. Cache was fairly easy to find and in good condition. Good description of location. We took the smiley man and left a paper fan.
We are visiting from Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and found this a thoroughly pleasant way to enjoy the park. Whoever created this cache must have wanted the seekers to learna bit of history along the way. I took my six-year old daughter, Phoebe, on the entire walk, and she really enjoyed herself. Thanks for a lot of fun. Alex C.
Round and round the mulberry bush... Ok, I am not sure if Hagley Park has a mulberry bush but we certainly did go round and round. When we finally got to the cache location we had to be very discrete as there were a few people round including two guys trying to get a land yacht up and going (but while it was windy, it must not have been enough wind to overcome the friction between the wheels and the grass, cos he was not going anywhere!)
Cache was slightly exposed, so found it quite quickly. Added a Smiley man from one of Gavins caches (it has been in my possession for almost a year) before covering the cache back up.
Cheers

AKA Walking in Circles - big ones, or thats what it felt like. Living nearby I know just about all the places we went to, except the little Millbrook Reserve which I had never been to. There were an Asian couple having wedding photographs taken there when we went by. Spent quite a while wandering around the loop, until we got to the cache site and there were people walking by, and a land yacht setting up to make use of the Easterly. Nick soon manged to get the cache out without being noticed, log it, and return it after waiting for other to pass. No exchange made. Cheers Gav [130]

A lovely morning for a walk in the park. I wished I had read further about this cache yesterday - I walked past that band rotunda 4 times in visiting PC Bob.
Exchanged nothing as I didn't have anything small enough.
Thanks for the morning out. Cheers.
