Awesome . Magpies are such interesting birds Gets another Fav!We added another LGA to our collection with kiwisteve2. We started from Sydney over 2 weeks ago and met up with the other team members of The Roos in Mystery Bay, NSW, then headed to Genoa Vic, then Cape Conran, Lake Tyers and Golden Beach before The Roos went their separate way.We headed to Phillip Island, where we hadn't been since Wayne Garnder and Mick Doohan were household names.Yesterday, we covered Yarra Glen, Yea and Merton all in the rain.Today, it's Euroa, Benalla, Glenrowan, Myrtleford, Tallangatta and Baranduda.Phew!Slowly adding to my Victoria LGA count.Back to Benalla Showgrounds for the night.Tftc

Holiday is almost over. Heading home again. Making stops along the way to hunt for a few smiles. Now that is more scary than Pennywise to this cyclist. Twisted

We looked for this cache nearly 5 weeks ago as we headed north but, unfortunately, we had to log a DNF. We are currently heading south to board the Spirit of Tasmania tomorrow night. In preparation for today, we checked some caches and noticed that the CO had completed maintenance not long after our DNF. So revisiting the site of the cache was a priority for today. Accurate coordinates and the correct interpretation of the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Robmc for the cache at this iconic object and for your prompt maintenance.

No issue and we soon had our names in the logbook. Then it was off to complete the AL...Thanks for this one Robmc....cache all good.

Oh dear, we seem to be starting a trend, failing to find caches at these lovely locations. We searched for 20 minutes but couldn't locate the small container. Again we looked low, reached in an felt around, peered under and through, took photos but alas no container was found. We are used to mainland magpies swooping at this time of the year so it was nice to find this large majestic specimen had more in common with its placid little Tassie relatives. As we left a young family arrived and the young children climbed up and sat under the bird so their dad could take photos. We will have another look on our way back next month.

We had planned for lunch and a walk, with the goal of completing the adventure lab and finding this nearby cache. The adventure lab went smoothly, but when it came to the cache, it was nowhere to be found despite our best efforts. We searched high and low, checking all the usual spots, but it remained elusive. With time ticking away and hunger setting in, we decided to call it a day for this cache. There's always next time, and we left knowing wed be back for another attempt.-M

11:36AM2993Driven past this cache a few times.but each time its been muggle central.but todayit was deserted. So I quickly pulled over and went on the hunt. The prize was soon in hand. Being a Carlton supporter, not really a fan of the magpie, but they have definitely done an awesome job of it. Great spot for a cache. TFTC Robmc

As they wandered off a little the chance was there to make the grab. Once they saw we were doing the same as they were they came across and signed the book. SL Tnx Robmc

After a DNF minutes earlier I made a quick find here. I've nearly been poked in the head by a few magpies.

26-Apr-24
I do like to see big things, so i did need to see the magpie. Quick find. Needed to get some more finds in this LGA.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

I have always been a sucker for roadside attractions and cheesy landmarks and so a friend of mine gifted me for Xmas this a year a map of all of the [**"Big Things of Australia"**](https://bigthingsofaustralia.com/). Well with being a non-native Australian I had never heard of these *"big things"* and was instantly hooked. The snuggle muggle and I even decided to head up to [Tocumwal](https://www.aussietowns.com.au/town/tocumwal-nsw) over the long Easter Weekend in order to see the [Big Murray Cod](https://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/the-murray/tocumwal/attractions/big-murray-cod). *Which was amazing by the way!*.However, on our way back to Melbourne I decided to try and stop for another one of the **"Big Things"**, Swoop, Euroa's [Big Magpie](https://www.visiteuroa.org.au/euroa-big-magpie). As we were taking photos the snuggle muggle actually mentioned she was surprised no one hadn't hid a geocache here...Well I actually was just so excited to see the **Big Magpie**, that I didn't even look for caches. So I quickly opened up [Cachly](https://www.cachly.com/) and that is when I literally saw that I was standing right next to this one!So a quick search and this cache was found and the log signed.A big thanks goes to [Robmc](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?u=Robmc) for this fun cache. TFTC.**Cache Maintenance Status**The cache container was in good shape and the attachment mechanism still seemed strong. All of the inner contents were nice and dry and the logbook was clean and dry with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.

After a very hectic day yesterday at work I needed to get out today and clear the head and also go for a drive.I picked north up the Hume as I have not been up this way for a while and there are a few new caches that have been put out as well.Im also chasing windmills for my up coming trip up to Canberra and back for the Captial GeoBash over the Easter break. My next stop was The Big Magpie after finding some windmill information. The sculpture was brilliant and towering over you.I have been swooped by Maggies before and I would hate to have this one coming at me.It was nice and quiet around here this morning so there was plenty of time to take a few snaps then look for this one.Cache was soon located and signed.I wonder if it is the same Steve Tobin that I worked with years ago who I know did move to Longwood.A fav goes out to you for bringing me here. Thanks Robmc TFTC.

15-Mar-24
Rocking up here to check out this nightmare sized bird i saw someone on their phone, right at gz.Asked if they were geocaching, they weren't, which then led to the explanation of what that means during which a couple wandered over who were actually geocachers! Although not regular finders we were all happy to geochat a moment with the log signing and rehiding then I was off into town to continue exploring. Thanks for bringing this sculpture to our attention with a geocache!

#19341 - 2:00:00 PM; Day six of "The Great Leap Forward" road trip and the last leg of the journey back home to Canberra after spending the night in Warnambool. Started the day early to allow for a bit more caching time as I head along the highway. A quieter day today with seven finds and plenty of kilometers travelled. All caches were found in good order and where appropriate, were returned as found once the log was signed. Last stop on the long road home after a visit to the local bakery for coffee and cake. Luckily the CO didn't place a nano on this one or I may have reconsidered the visit. Cache located quickly and my name is now in the log! TFTC Robmc Smile
