Far out brussell sprout, it was H-O-T today. I had intended to grab all of these caches, but the heat, the mozzies, and the general lack of preplanning got the better of me. I shall return for the rest! Thanks for this, not so tiny, not hard to find, cool cache. Operation tick Fang off is one step closer to being complete.
Please be mindful where you leave the rope so it not able to be seen by muggles from the path. Happy to see this one in good condition.
Fangsoki rang me this morning and asked me to join him while he did cache maintenance of his caches in Fitzgibbon Bushland after a recent bushfire in the area. I jumped at the chance of checking out the hides in there. After parking, I followed him through the trails (Hoping he knew the way) until he stood beside a large tree and asked me if I could find the cache. I glanced up and found the "fishing" line and managed to land prize.Great job Fangsoki. There are not many places you can hide a cache this big.I cast the cache back into the depths to live another day.
I certainly got a workout here. The container kept getting stuck so it involved a lot of back and forth positioning the cache to avoid the snags. Once I had my hands on the container I was able to sign the log, replace the cache and be on my way. Thanks for placing the cache and the extra exercise. TFTC
Out and about again with TBU1Bikesu and my muggle brother Siggi on a sunny winter day. We spotted this cache and signed the log.Tftc . Fangsoki
Out and about again with TBU2Uwe001 and my muggle brother Siggi on a beautiful sunny winter day.We looked for caches around Fitzgibbon and Taigum. This was the only one today in the Bushland where we could get to without wet feet. But it was a nice walk around. We found this cache and signed the log. I dropped a TB for the next cacher to take it on a tripTftc Fangsoki
No 50 CAL to be found, but a nice geocache was! A little elbow grease and a bicep curl later, I was good! TFTC
Aimed for a pair of large caches here today, but the mozzies to the north were overwhelming. Not to be thwarted, I pushed to this GZ and made the find simply. TFTC and placement.
Found quickly enough...just b4 mossies found me...surprised 2 c there were no treasures, just a log book...there's now just 1 treasure! T4TC:-)
Great large container. Gotta love an ammo can. Once again I find myself in Brisbane for a business trip. This of course means that once all meetings are over the hunt for caches can begin! Though, this also means that all caching adventures will have to be done at night, which generally doesnt make things easier. I am mostly focusing on challenge caches this time around, as it is great to finally collect the fruits of the hard work after qualifying for them.Fangsoki, thanks for placing the Large sized 1.5/2.0 geocache Fishing for a Fifty Cal.
When we started walking down the path there was another couple about 30 metres behind us. When it came time to leave the path we stopped pretending to take an important text message from the prime minister hoping they would pass us by. Funnily enough they also stopped to take a message from a president to one up us.It was taking time to read my message from the prime minister because of all the political rant so we decided to not make this awkward and tell them we were here for the same reason as them. We started walking back to them to introduce ourselves when they then turned around and fled the scene of the crime. Maybe they werent here for the same reason? With the path clear, after checking we had applied deodorant, we finally left to discover the hide. We think someone had left it on a convenient ledge so we reciprocated. tftc
Always a pleasure coming to this reserve. A lot of butterflies around today and absolutely no breeze as we made our way to GZ. Cache was an easy find but access to it was more challenging. Could have used some WD-40. TFTC
After finishing at the shops drove to this green space and decided to grab a cache before heading home.Starting at the East, went past two caches which would have had me wading and more then likely swatting mozzies. Wanting to remain dry went round the corner and along the path to this cache and noticed most of the scrub was dryish. With everything quiet went bush to the "stump". Had the height to spot the fifty cal container.Opening the container was like a shot gun blast. Looked around to make sure no one was remotely close before grabbing the log. Left a few well meaning mozzies buzzing away in the container for the next intrepid adventurer. TFTC Fangsoki. When the remaining area dries out sometime late 2024 I'll attempt your other nearby hides.
Headed out after work today with my daughter for a quick cache and a long chat.Signed log and off to the next challengeA big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.Cheers
Shazzar66 and I had planned an afternoon around Fitzgibbon to find some caches. We often get together after work one day a week, and today was the day. We met at the carpark as planned, and wandered towards this cache. It didnt take too long to locate the cache. It took a little longer to extract it. Were not exactly sure where it should be placed, although there looked to be somewhere particular that it should be placed on rather than at the bottom, which is where we found it. Thankfully there were two of us; one to poke and push from below, and one to haul from above. Its always nice to find one of these containers, even though I have PTSD from breaking a finger opening a rusty lid, which my finger smashed between the lid and the tree that the cache was chained too, Not the case with this cache. All good here. Thanks, Fangsoki, for the cache.
I headed out for a few caches today with Duppers.Decided to hit a few around Fitzgibbon.I found your cache, Fishing for a Fifty Cal today. This is my 2611 find.We head to this one, started to make our way in then decided to bail. In second thought and because we both had our gum boots in our cars we decided to grab them and head back in.I soon regretted that decision as I was wearing shorts and soon had my legs cut to shreds. We continued through to finding the cache only to find the log book completely soaked. We did get our names in but the log book really needs replacing.(If you are in planning on grabbing this cache, then dress appropriate.)Fangsoki, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF (cant say, thanks for bringing me, lol)
Out for a warm up recovery ride whilst nursing a back strain gives me the cache to take it easy an look for a cache or 2 as well as coffee and cakes. I had looked at this location before leaving home and have to say this is one of the few caches in a look long time ( make that the first 10 or so caches ever found) that I achieved GPS device free. Now to get that cache out. Yes, those back muscles are still sensitive. Lifting hurts
Always seem to be coming back to this park. Only did this one as the ground is so wet after all the rain. Soon had the cache and signed the log. Thanks Fangsoki. All good with this cache.
Weve been a tad slack as of late so I thought it was time to grab a few caches for us after work.Ive eyed off this bunch since they were published and seeing that I finished earlier than expecting I thought Id head on over to investigate.I hit the trails in search of these caches but with the sun beating down on me I wanted to get in and out quickly to avoid getting roasted.I had no issue locating the hide here as the hint was pretty straight forward and caches of this type arent hard to miss. Thanks for bringing me here.#4190 - TFTC
We remembered walking through this bit of bushland chasing the wonderful Tinkerbell some time ago so decided to head out after dinner tonight to grab this one then continue the circuit back to the car. We werent quite brave enough to try finding the others as they were a bit further off the track. We spied the cache nice and easily once we arrived at GZ and then set about fishing for it. With a heave, we manage to land the nicely sized box, signed the log, and threw it back. Thanks Fangsoki
Solo bike ride this morning after a cancelled brunch. A few new geos in this bush land have appeared since I was through here last. TFTC
Family Friday Fun Day.Quick find, but heck of a job retrieving. Fortunately there were three of us to push from the bottom and pull from above.Log signed and all replaced.TFTC
inspection point was definitely needed todayglad there was more than one of us to maneuver it out
Fangsoki I found your cache Fishing for a Fifty Cal on 27/11/2023, 4:40pm. This is my find 6253 and find # 23 today. A quick and easy find. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Part two of my two countries same day statistic. having arrived home from New Zealand, Pprime`` wanted 'just one more' - and I love that. this offering is new, nearby and easy to grab ... exactly what we needed after a very long multiple-timezone day. A lovely little stroll in, and then a quickly found GZ and Pprime` had it in hand straight away. Perfect perfect perfect. Thankyou Fang monster!!!
Accio 22:09:49After a great holiday in New Zealand and something like 270 caches there - a quick Aussie grab here tonight to round out our "two countries in the same day" stat. Great hide (although T4mmmy wasn't sure what I was looking at to start with). This cache and one celebrating giant cricket/cockroaches in New Zealand will now be indelibly linked on our stats pages! Thanks Fangsoki for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11870}*
Wed just popped in for a bit to eat when GG1 told me to drop everything & to Uber her not far down the road to find a cache. This being the second in a list of four on the just released alert, we were still in the box seat to grab another Joint {*FTF*} terrain here was more accommodating having ventured into this bush land before and a find was quickly at hand. Thanks Fangsoki for the placement & FTF opportunity
{*FTF*} with Muggle65 today. As we could eat and walk at the same time, we decided to find this one while we were so close. Another great container Mr CO and a tether l have not previously seen. Nice and quiet around GZ today which suited us perfectly. Thank you for a fun cache Fangsoki
12/11/2023 Find #6715Fangsoki invited me out for a day up north for. Spot of possible cache maintenance, however we couldnt head up there too early so he asked me if I would like to come here and test out his new caches pre-publishing. Sure, why not?!We parked the car and made our way in. Well it wasnt long before we reached the likely spot, and a bit of fiddling so had what I was after in hand. Except.Oops! Someone had somehow managed to not put the logbook inside the cache. So back we headed to home quarters where Fangsoki grabbed a logbook and stash note before we made the journey again. And somehow the stash note still got lost once more! But the logbook made its way into the cache - with my name in it! - so thats all that matters in the long run I guess. Thanks for the cache Fangsoki. A fun misadventure of sorts here today.
