Logs
We were unable to find this cache in January, but noting it had been replaced, had another look today. Unfortunately we still failed to find anything, a little surprising given it was last found just over a week ago.
An enjoyable walk in an area we haven't been to before. A quick find of the cache and then the real work begins. I played around with it a bit before using a systematic approach which got me into the logsheet. Logsheet very wet but being waterproof it only needed a wipe to make it usable. A fav point from me. tftc
Having found too many urban caches recently it was so good to come and have a walk and find a couple of caches in this lovely area. There was quite a lot of water on the tracks from the recent rain and the stream was running fast but it was very magical to walk through here in the sunshine with lots of beautiful birdsong. Soon spotted an amazing tree and at its base an amazing powelliphanta snail shell - took a photo in situ and left there (it's against the law to move them). After that I noticed the cache nearby and got to work with the field puzzle - fun and didn't take long to figure out. Adding a favourite point, TFTC
Taking advantage of some good weather to have a day on the Kapiti Coast. Walked on to here from the birdhouse cache which is also in this reserve. When I arrived the cache was lying on the ground in plain sight, and it was already open (but the contents were dry and in good condition). This made accessing the log very easy, although when I saw how it worked I would have had no problems opening it. I closed it properly after signing the log and replaced it in a less obvious spot less than a metre from where I found it. Not the first time I have been here, I remember finding some now-archived caches here a number of years ago. Thanks for an enjoyable cache in a very pleasant and scenic location.
#14,778. Parked up for the starting event (Cannonball Run IV Weekend - Meet, Greet & Set Up) of the weekends camping activities based in Levin. The cache owner had the field puzzle with him ready for placing it back in the field. However, he offered permission to log the find provided the field puzzle can be solved and put back together again. Well, we had a go and happy to be able to so access the log after a while of field puzzle solving. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the field puzzle and geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and *.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*
I was up in New Plymouth at a music event on the Saturday that this cache was first published, so was not able to participate in the first day finding fun. But, as I have long ago cleared out all of the Geocaches in Levin and wanted to keep the area clear, I had stopped by here on my way home the next day to find this cache. Unfortunately I could not find it, and after an hour or so of looking I was getting a little confused trying to figure out what I had missed when I saw the listing was disabled, and the note advising that the cache had been damaged. Hmmm, Well at least that explains why I couldn't find it.Fast forward a few days (and by a few days I mean three months) and the CO was attending the annual Cannonball Run weekend of events and mentioned that he had the cache with him. A this is a field puzzle, and we were all just sitting around chattering away, he passed the puzzle around the group of us there and we each spent the time required to solve the maze and extract and sign the log. I've done a few caches of this type, and this was a good one.And now, finally, the cache has been re-enabled. I guess that since I signed the log on 2024-03-01 then that is the date I shall change my online log to.---Thanks to by fuzzball56 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
We had a quick look, but couldn't find anything. We assume the "replacing on Monday or Tuesday " didn't happen.
Guess that explains why i couldn't find it. I thought i was going crazy, but instead i was looking for something that wasnt there?
This was the second cache we found in this reserve. I really enjoyed walking through the bush. We had no trouble finding this case as when we arrived at GZ. There were quite a few people standing there looking at the Kashka container. Well done for having something different. I have one of these containers and I should put it out somewhere soon.Sad to hear later on during the day that this container had been damaged, and I hope it is able to be repaired quickly for others to enjoy. Favourite given.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache fuzzball56.
A big weekend - Waiterererererere Forest, then an event in Levin, then a D5 cache on a bridge (under, actually), then another event in Wanganui.So we came here. Nice easy find. And of course, that's where it stops. Person 1 could not get to the log so I said hand it over - I have done a number of these.I did wonder about the construction though. And now that I hear its broken maybe I was right. There are a variety of materials available, and the one of the others might be a better choice.But it's nice to see more caches out here. Well done. Thanks for the {FTF}
**19,717**Not being in the area at the time of the Event, we made a point of stopping through on our way home to collect these new placements. After a short walk through this lovely bit of bush to GZ, we quickly located the cache, only to note that there seemed to be a piece broken off the log holder and left in the outer container. Mr Geckoh, who loves these types of caches, gently worked it open only to find the end of the inner container was also broken, which could explain why it was so quickly opened. We signed the log and gently replaced. What a shame to see such a great little container damaged so soon after placement. We returned everything as we found it after photographing it and hide the outer container a little better with natural camo. Thanks for your efforts in creating this cache. TFTC
Our team walked through the lovely bush from the previous cache, so thankfully the hard work had been done by the time we arrived ?? Thanks again for the cache and event {FTF} fuzzball56 ????
Joint [FTF] with others from the event. I had a fun time cracking the logbook container only to half put it back together for the others to have some fun. TFTC
Continuing along yhis walkway we arrived at GZ to be greeted by this puzzle cache. HS has a similar one, so I was well used to getting frustrated. I'm not sure if the difficulty is in opening or closing the cache. But a favorite point from me. Thank you for the effort you put into creating this cache, fuzzball
We travelled down to Levin today for the "Summer's Back 2023" event at the Bush Street Cafe. Summer was indeed back on this fine warm day and we enjoyed both the event and finding a few caches - most of them brand new, provided by fuzzball56 at the event.We always enjoy a walk in the lovely Waiopehu Bush Reserve, so were happy to come here for two of the new caches this afternoon. This was the second one. As we walked in we met two other cachers on their way back who said the cache had been damaged - in spite of the cache page asking that it be handled with care and that it is fragile it appeared it had been forced and would not now go back together properly. ??This seemed to be the case when we found it too. It's a real shame but it's difficult to know what has happened from how it is now. So it needs the CO to check it and see if it can go back together correctly. TFTC fuzzball56 and the joint {FTF} opportunity. It is much appreciated and we'll give a fav for the cache. ??
After the very successful event at the new cafe by prousse's bush we set off in convoy to locate these four new released caches around levin . yes the tree is wonderful and the cache is even more AMaZing and we were very lucky we had the roght cacher with us that after a short time managed to actually open the cache and retrieve the log strip which we all signed and then it was infoferret job to re assemble the maze. These type of cache can be very devilish to work out but always very worth while so a big Thank you for making this cache and placing here in this reserve . this also deserves a fav point from me . Well done ! the photo is of a lovely fern stump which appealed to me . Thank you for another {FTF} .
Found after the event in Levin. ????woolwood9 & I enjoyed the short walk in the reserve.Again taybee nz did the work on the puzzle and had the log out quite quickly!SL *tm/ww NZ* Shared {FTF}Thanks fuzzball56 for the event and new caches. ????
Joint {FTF} with event attendees. After a very successful event by this CO, a whole group of us set off to find the new caches. A lot of interest was shown in this container, not the easiest to access the log, but we got there in the end. Thanks so much for a fun cache fuzzball56. Dropped a TB.
Joint {FTF} after today's event. First time I've come across one of these types of cache. Glad someone else dealt with opening it. Tftc
Joint {FTF} with other attendees of the local event today.Arrived here first with taybee nz right on our tails. He swooped in and grabbed the cache.Great to watch as he worked out the puzzle with preciseness and patience. He had the container opened in record time.All signed and returned
Joint [FTF] In Levin today for an event, with rattll. Four new caches released, this was one that we arrived at first. A short hunt soon turned up the container, but then the fun of opening it. It took us about ten minutes of trying different things before success. Signed the blank log, before the tricky business of putting it back together. Soon returned as found. FP for a fun puzzle. Tftc!
Another great cache, found in a group after the event. Totally blown away by the work you have put into crafting these! TFTC. Joint FTF
Out and about with matagouri after the very enjoyable event. This was our second cache of the day, and we had a very lovely peaceful walk through the bush to GZ. A bit noisier on the way back as we met many cachers heading in??The container was quickly found, but it took a wee while of careful manipulation to get to the log itself. Such a shame to hear it has been broken since.Thanks for setting this up and creating the cool container and for the joint {FTF}
Joint {FTF} - a staged group find by attendees from "Summer's Back 2023" event hosted by this CO.Had a lovely bush walk to gz, then cache was quickly spotted by TrinityNZ. I knew about this type of cache but hadn't seen one in the field before. Strange it was in more pieces than would have thought, so had log in hand immediately without needing to do the field puzzle as intended. Left as found, CO notified.TFTC fuzzball56 - good fun and great effort!
Joint [FTF] with the rest of the COs event attendees. Having collected a couple of the newly released caches today it was time to head to the AMazeing tree. A short gorgeous walk later and we found a whole bunch of people standing around an amazing tree - who knew! Cache was already out and names were being signed so we got to sight the cache and add our names. Not sure who got the job of replacing it but been there done that - thank you for taking one for the team A fun cache fuzzball56 - nice work.
Joint {FTF} with others. Found after completing the Event in Levin, summers return with Taybee, TaybeeNZ and Flowerydaze. This took some working out but taybeeNZ soon had the puzzle solved which wasn't easy. Well done fuzzball56, FP awarded for the effort put into making the cache. Sorry to hear its since been damaged.
Joint {FTF} with other attendees of the nearby event.Having enjoyed a very convivial gathering to (prematurely) welcome the start of summer, the attendees were then treated to the announcement that 4 new caches would be coming out shortly. The event attendees then started to head off in dribs and drabs according to their own personal goals for the day in order to find them. I ended up carpooling with NZ_B. I haven't been to this little reserve for a few years now, although I did come here when I started caching to get the small handful of cachers that used to be here. It didn't take long to track this one down, given that when we arrived there was a group of about 12 people (including the CO) all standing around lol. So in this instance I didn't get to do the log retrieve as expected, but soon had my name in the log regardless.I was with the CO later this same day when the news came in that the cache had been found in a damaged condition. Hopefully it can be repaired quickly as I am sure people will want to have a go at it.Thank you for putting it out today.
**taybee** is caching again with **taybee nz** , **Flowerydaze** and **Talla64** for the dayjoint [FTF]Quick find here today All in good order, sign log book as **TNZFT****** joint sign* ) TFTC Cache was found at **02/12/2023 @ 13:55:54**
(# 8501) Joint {FTF}. A trip up to Levin for an event and a few caches. Got the new caches published by the event CO. Another well constructed cache worthy of a FP. Was with a group of event attendees and took a little bit of time to open up. But got there in the end.Thanks fuzzball56 for bringing me here.
Well, I wrote a nice long log for this one, but it has disappeared, probably appearing against a completely unrelated cache, where it will make no sense. Ill try again.JustLookingOO and I headed off to find three of todays new caches, this being the third. Finding the container was straightforward, but strangely the log was easy to extract. In fact we could just pull it out. We then realised the cache was in three pieces, instead of one, so it had probably been broken by an earlier finder. We signed the log, took a photo, and put it back the way we found it.Sorry this happened so soon! Thanks for allowing the joint [FTF], along with other event attendees.
Joint (FTF) with others after attending a local event. This is such a lovely piece of native bush, hubby soon found the container and then the fun began. It was nice to be able to sit down on a natural, ready made seat, to work through the puzzle patiently for the cache operation required to open & then working back into position to close it. Favourite given for location and puzzle. Favourite given for a lovely environment and also field puzzle.
