Very clever camouflage. I was talking to a dedicated volunteer while on this boardwalk, and he was justly protective of the forest floor. It is a big no-no to step off the walkways in NZ bush even for an old geocache (when they didn't know better). Needless to say, stay on the boardwalk for this one.
Sunday afternoon, up from Auckland visiting family in Warkworth. Decided to visit this park, loved the boardwalk and trees. Stopped here on the way around, useful hint, soon found, made sure not to drop it. Signed and replaced. TFTC
Sunny Saturday in Warkworth exploring areas we didnt know existed! Enjoyed the museum surrounds and exploring other ruins around the town. MrNZT collected this one. TFTC!
Nice stroll along to this one - Found it this time - it sure is nice in here.TFTC
With the forecast for Friday being good and Saturday being rubbish, I decided to head out to Matakana today to make the most of the sunshine and to do some more caching in the area. Stopped at Parry Kauri Park on the way up, while completing the Warkworth Adventure Lab, and went for a wander around the bush here. It's a stunning little patch of forest here, so I took my time wandering around it. Took a look for the cache here, which took me a little while to spot, as it blended in so well with the tree! TFTC, FP added!
We met up with Team Welsh at Kauri Park this morning to start our big day out caching. We enjoyed the wander out on the boardwalk to GZ and began looking for the cache. There are not many examples of the hint here, but the cache still took some time to locate. Thanks for bringing us back here.
The men of TW and KC came here while the ladies were busy elsewhere. They didn't find it at first so the ladies headed down the path and before we got there they had it in hand. Nicely camoed cache and we appreciated all that we found today.
Took us a while with the GPS spazzing out but we got there in the end! Well hidden cache in a lovely bush walk. Cams birthday cache #3. TFTC. #83
Out for a spot of night caching. Hopefully didn't freak out the neighbours. Nice hide, and surprisingly close to GZ. TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we were staying in the Warkworth area & decided we should go for a bit of a drive & grab some caches while out & about decided to visit the Parry Kauri Park next door to the Warkworth Museum & the walk the tracks this cache was easily found, logbook completed & then replaced back into position pleased to add a 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL #5,106 for Us!
Managed to find it without any hints or description as didn't have reception. Used our previous geocache knowledge to know what to look for. Tftc.
Hint helped us get this one when the gps was all over the place. Thanks great hide.
Good hint so this was a quick find in this brilliant forest remnant. Cute little cache holder. Tftc
The new boardwalks are great and good fun for the kids to run along - added bonus to find a geocache
Rattll and I parked up the campervan at Parry Kauri Park for the night. With daylight starting to fade, we went for a walk along the new boardwalk (having disinfected our feet at the start). It's a very civilized way to experience the kauri forest, rather than scrambling through the bush. At GZ, the GPS wouldn't settle, so we made a systematic search, finally locating the container rather lower down than expected. Log nice and dry, signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
I was here about a year ago and had found all the caches in the area, so was very happy to see a couple of new one's. This track has changed a lot since then, with you no longer being able to do the full loop.It took a couple of goes checking the most likely spot before the cache was finally found - more by feel than by sight! Thanks for putting this here in this lovely little bit of bush.
It has been a long time since we visited the museum and this walkway wasn't here then so we were very pleased to explore it today, especially since there was almost no one else there. After a leisurely stroll we reached GZ and began to search but our GPS was struggling a bit with the tree cover so it was difficult to pinpoint the exact area to search. However the hint helped a lot and we soon located the cache, although can see why it has had a few DNFs as it is very well concealed and cleverly placed. We had to be careful not to drop the container as we retrieved it and were pleased there was no one else around as it would have been a bit challenging if there had been. Thanks Jarstrat for another great hide, we have really enjoyed finding some of your caches today.A favourite point for this one.
Out on a ladies caching day with Net and SN. After stopping for an ice cream at Matakana, we stopped at Warkworth on our way home to collect a few caches. We always love this bush walk, and the cool shade was welcome on this hot hot day. Net spied the cache, but mrsjag had to bend down to retrieve the cache as Net had a sore knee from a fall earlier in the day. Thanks for the cache and the smilie
We overnighted here in our motorhome and came to grab two geocaches after everyone had gone home for the night. T4tC Jarstrat,Civvnr&MissTreadlightly....(UK) Geocaching.com finds so far 11332
So glad we didn't have to leave the trail. Such a beautiful park. Thank you again for bringing us to this stunning walk.
( ) Me and supernanny have arranged a day to do a heap of caches well away from Auckland, we intend to have a long day if possible and we're aiming to get only very recent caches. Supernanny picked me up from my place just before 8am, she dropped me home at 7:45pm so that was a solid 12 hours.( ) This cache was our first for the day, I took a photo of the time the museum is open for future reference and a few photos of the awesome Kauri's which turned out awful, the sun was in the wrong place. never mind, the walk to this cache was very nice, almost brand new I'd say, the seats look like they have never been sat on until I came along at least. ( ) Cache found in an obvious spot, didn't look very secure though, so after signing in, we made sure it won't fall out. Thanks very much for this cache and the other 2 of yours we will get, may you keep on placing more caches, well done!
Thanks so much, Jarstrat, for bringing me back to this amazing Kauri Walkway.....Glad there was no need to step off the boardwalk...Out caching with Gorby today....took a few false tries to find the sneaky hidden cache!Favourite point for you...Must return and do the whole track again. On a mission today, so had to move on!
I was heading down to an appointment in Greenlane when these new caches were published so I had to ignore them. Several hours later they were still unfound so I decided to continue up the motorway instead of heading home. Having got ftf on the cache by the picnic area I continued on to this one. I forget just how lovely this bush walk is! Once at gz my ph wouldnt go under 10m because of the tree cover but knowing I wouldnt need to go off the boardwalk there was only one place the cache could be and sure enough, there it was. So another {FTF} for the day. I decided to continue on and enjoy the bush and met a lovely English couple who were holidaying in NZ for 8 weeks. They were enjoying the tranquility and birdsong of this beautiful bush too.
