WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 144 - Miles to Toowoomba via Chinchilla, Dalby and Oakey. Wow, my journey east is almost done. I am not due into Brisbane until next week, so I get a few days in Toowoomba. On the way there I took a detour along a side road and then a straight run via a few near road caches before another detour into Oakey for some Labs. It was a great day and despite my concerns, I found a place to stay in Toowoomba. I went out for a short afternoon shopping and a cache before heading back to the van to cook dinner and try to catch up on some logging. aching around Toowoomba tomorrow. After some shopping and a trip to a very busy park for some Labs, I had a go at one more cache. It took two stops to get one, but I managed this one and I was impressed by the surviving building here as well. Thanks for the cache RobbieP8749111.6 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2009 IYA - Gemini North A#176**Albida**
Great location. Im doing aa Air Raid Shelters Adventure Lab in Brisbane, its surprising how many shelters were built. TFTC
Not the usual thing you expect to find in an area such as this, but great to see it has been saved. A quick find, then off to explore the railway station. Really well preserved in all its glory.A day in town today, focussing o Ad Labs along with a few caches as we took the opportunity to look around. It was a lovely day on which we visited some of the busier parts of town along with parks and just enjoyed wandering in the sunshine.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache RobbieP87.**SKI Pair****
Been to the train station a few times for caching. Nice and quiet early on a very cold morning makes for easy find.
TFTC! I previously tried to grab this one after work on my own and didnt have any luck, but returned today with Geokid 7 and we found it quickly. Obviously didn't look hard enough on my first attempt, as it was in the first place I looked! She loved reading the plaque and learning some new history facts.
Not sure if my boyfriend and I are utterly blind or if this has been muggled. Was hoping for an easy find with the previous legs but no such luck today. Looked in the most obvious of hiding spots and didnt find anything. Would love to come back and make this one a smiley face sometime if someone could check!
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying in Toowoomba while the caravan is in for repairs in Burpengary. We didn't head out till after lunch today after a big day out yesterday. We hoped to complete some of the nearby multi caches, which thankfully was a success. we converted to of our previous but collected some more aswell. We found this cache today. Night time find on this cache started a conversation with WillPunkey about why they built bomb shelters in Toowoomba. Easy find at GZ
Thanks for this one and the history lesson. All good with this one. We had came over to Toowoomba to watch a nephew play rep netball.
TFTC! Caught up with a friend nearby for coffee earlier this morning, so while in Toowoomba decided to find a cache or 2. This was my first find for the day.
Mum loves a train station, and a cache? EVEN BETTER! What an awesome location. Loved reading about the Air Raid Shelter and exploring the train station nearby whilst we waited for muggles to filter out. Amazing history. Thanks so much for putting a cache here!! Favourite point for the location. Quick find here, a "V" for victory for us as well. TFTC, found with Globetrotters7701
Great to get another find before I leave Toowoomba tomorrow. Interesting history! TFTC
The Minister for War and Finance is away for the weekend, so I have a free day today for a hike and some caching. With a lousy forecast of lots of rain in Brisbane, I thought I would try my chances and head west where the forecast looked better. It turned out to be a good decision as not a drop of rain fell on me today.Whilst looking at a possible list of caches last night, I targeted a local of challenge caches, as well as a few other caches needed to complete other challenges. I was nearby and noticed this one. I do like some interesting war time history, so I decided to take a look. I was glad I did. The cache was quickly found. Looking at the structure, I wonder how it would go these days with modern bombs? Not so well, I suspect. Many thanks Robbie P87 Pete#7,806
Out and about so Muddtrax and I decided to cache today, leap year and all. Nicely hidden away but found the cache without too much trouble. TFTC
#792 ~ Wow I never knew this Air Raid shelter existed here (well that I remember anyway ) Having grown up here and visiting this station many times over the years, it took a cache to learn the history Great find on the extra day we have to cache this year Found with Krossbo by torchlight (our usual way to find them )TFTC RobbieP87 & DeadroseJ66!!
Having lived in Toowoomba for 19 years and visiting the station for lunches etc, I never knew of this shelter, so thank you for bringing us here!
On my own while filling in time at hospital. I was going to do the First Coat Multi, but too hard on my own, so, as I knew how to get to the Station from the Hospital, and knew where the Air Raid Shelter was, I decided to give this one a go. Interesting history here, beautiful railway station. Easy find, hidden by a QR 4x4. Only one cache to go now to qualify for a challenge I am chasing. Thanks for the hide RobbieP87. Fave point for you
With quite a few new caches appearing around town I thought I would visit a few today. A long time ago there was a cache here, and I am glad to see another one has been published. A quick find for me today. Thanks for the cache.
With a day off work, I decided to head out and do some caching. I mainly targeted caches that would help with several challenges Im currently working on. I notice this cache drop a few days ago, but was stuck at work. Passing through the area today, so made the quick find. TFTC. SL. TBs Eddie Mac to New Zealand and Back, Prado Owl , Rawhide and Kiwi Bird visited.Find # 1860.
