Das Wetter heute fantastisch und ein Spaziergang auf Briggton Pier hat uns sehr gefallen .Auch die Frage war gut beantwortet. MPLC und schne Gre von uns aus Deutschland .
Down from Whangarei to visit family for a few days and most importantly, to meet our new grand daughter. It is also an opportunity to grab some caches, especially as I have none within 50 km from home that I haven't already found...Lovely weather this morning, albiet a bit cool and windy, but ideal to go for a walk nearby to collect some caches. Been out here a few times during our stay, so thought I should log this one before heading home. TFT(V)C
I flew into Christchurch yesterday afternoon for a 3-week bucket list road trip around South Island. I'm spending the first couple of nights in Christchurch, though, since I have a couple of things to sort out before I head off ... and naturally enough, I took the opportunity to find a few caches as I moved around town today. This virtual caught my eye when I was planning my trip, particularly the claim that it is Australasia's longest ocean pier. It's not, but it's a pretty impressive structure all the same and I enjoyed walking its length ... not too many fishers there today, but it surprised me to see some of them throwing crab pots into the water, not what I was expecting. Thanks for bringing me here to check out Christchurch's iconic pier, ivss_xx.
It's Canterbury Anniversary Day and an outdoor adventure awaits. Walking around New Brighton trying to find a number of caches. It's sunny and not very windy - perfect! It is busy on the pier this morning. There are surfers in the water, a drone above the surfers, and the pier provides a good view of a 'sandscribe' - a man making beautiful artwork on the beach with only a rake.
I have never been along this pier - living in the North island - so it was great to go there and even have a swim in the hot pools there ! WE watched a person doing a sand drawing next to the pier also which turned out really good - clever people ! It has quite a history and is certainly well worth visiting . Thank you for bringing me here and a chance to stroll along the pier !
We came to the coast for a bit of sightseeing and walked the pier. We had to dance over all the rods in the No Fishing area to find the right answer to add our names to Certitude's list. It was a nice day to be there and we had a chat about crab pots and some of the better fish with one of the many pier folk. Thanks ivss_xx.
We were out today for a walk in the dunes, and a visit to the pier, introducing them to a new Christchurch resident... We started the adlab, but for some reason had a technical problem with the phone GPS and only got stage 1. Clue found and certified. Photo attached. TFTC!
Today we cycled from Christchurch to New Brighton by the sea. We didn't just want to enjoy the city and the beach, but also visit this virtual cache. The task was checked in the program and the obligatory photo was taken with the pier. The Moorhelmi's from Germany say thank you for this entertaining trip.
Last night as I looked at a map of my local unfounds I discovered that I hadn't 'found' this Virtual cache nor had I done the Ad Lab on the Pier. That then decided where I was going to ride today. After taking the required photo for this cache I then walked the Pier to complete the Ad Lab.and then visited the plaque for the info that the CO requested for this cache. It was quite windy out at the end of the pier. There were numerous fisher folk at the end of the pier fishing for crabs and kahawai with other people just standing by watching the crabers plus the half dozen or so surfers below catching the odd small wave or two.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we are now back staying in Christchurch went for a drive this afternoon to clean up a couple of Mystery Finals & to complete an Ad Lab out at the Pier thought we might as well do this Virtual Cache while there Certitude has confirmed our answer & the required photos are attached were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN, except photos:LN, not even foot-prints:no L to S this was #6,428 for us!
A great spot for a virtual. Today was a stunning day here and loads of muggles enjoying the views and fishing. As I sat at the end watching the boats, fishermen and other activities I remember my very first visit here. It was January the next year with my wife, 3 year old son and friends from Rotorua. The fishermen started to pack up and thats when I noticed the thunderstorm racing towards use. We hadnt heard the thunder over the sound of the sea. We got about half way back to the car when the sun disappeared and the wind picked up. We made it to the car just as the clouds burst. Memories and thankfully nothing like that today. Thank you for setting up this virtual and a favourite point from me.
Nice evening to come out for fish and chips. A cache or more as well.met a sand artist as well. I will add his art as well in my pics. Cheers.
Did the AdLab tonight, found required info at GZ, but didn't have our geocaching name and no time to write it down and take the picture, This is a lovely place and I'm sure we'll be back in the next 6 months to log it, I just need to keep a mental note and bring our geocacher's tag.
Such a nice walk along the pier in the evening and clearly popular! Great combo with the adventure lab! TFTC!!
Thanks so much ?? for maintaining and creating this hide ivss_xx. I like the idea of using certitude for the answers. We enjoyed your lab cache too. This morning ?? JDScout and I drove and biked to the Pier. We enjoyed your lab ???? cache and completed this virtual. The photo is of JDScout and I sitting at the pier. We also visited a mutual geocaching friend at his place of work after finding this hide.
Two weeks holiday in New Zealand. Now in Christchurch. Nice place. Thanks for the virtual cache.
A nice afternoon for a walk along the beach and pier. Plenty of people trying their luck with a fishing rod. TFTC.
Walked out along the pier with The Morris in the late afternoon, a bit of a chilly wind blowing.Collected our answer from the tiles we had been reading for the AdLab.Thanks for the virtual, Robmc.
Our first cache after arriving today from Australia. We are staying nearby and a brisk walk was just what we needed after a long day of travelling. Thanks for a cool start to our 8 week holiday.
Great Virtual, out today with busy paws. Lovely walk to end, lots of fishing. Certitude liked our answer so can log. Thanks for setting up this Virtual cache ivss_xx.
Out with coconuts3 today and completed the ad lab and this virtual. Certitude liked the answer, so here is my log! Breezy today and lots of fishing going on, saw one impressive red cod caught. Photo to follow. TFTVC ivss xx
Not a good day for surfing or kite flying, but excellent for caching. Paldies/ thanks/ kia ora ivss_xx
A nice quick find. It is always good for a walk along here. Funny thing, at the end there is a No Fishing area. The ony placethat they were fishing was here!! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are cruising around town, checking out some of the newer hides to us. A nice day though the wind a little chilly.Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
Love a virtual and a nice walk along the pier. great idea using certitude but please tell people number only not $ or comma else makes them look silly.
Went for a walk down the pier and met the Warbuts had a good chat. Wandered back to take some photos. Thanks for the virtual.
Have taken the appropriate photo and certitude likes me so I guess that is another tick. This was a beautiful day with very few visitors . Thankyou.
Out for a walk with Mossy. Saw a kahawai caught on a line and it had been bitten by a shark. Lots of crabs in a net and a baby shark. A lot of people ignore the yellow words! Thanks for the cache, ivss_xx#10612
[FTF] at 0835I headed into work super early today to keep my FTF streak alive. Second month in a row I got it on the last day of the month! I arrived at GZ just as the power washing crews were getting to work. I worked my way around them and managed to stay dry. Quickly got what I needed and headed to the break room for a cup of tea and logging. Thanks for placing a virtual here. Its an ideal spot for a VC and AL.
Coordinates changed from:S 43 30.357 E 172 44.101Coordinates changed to:S 43 30.357 E 172 44.105Distance from original: 17.6 feet or 5.4 meters.Just moving the icon a tiny bit (while still remaining on the pier, obviously) so it doesn't overlap with the mystery icon nearby.
