TFTC,My goal today was to lift my finds for this date to 15 on my statistics page. With Adventure Lab stages now being counted into these statistics, this year is the last time I will work towards this. Also added 5 stages of an ALWhat an experience this Virtual was. I have been here before and was looking forward to returning. Entered the lower section and wondered what to feature. Hearing voices from the upper level and checked to find a Mum supervising her sons who were having fun adding items to the walls. I asked if they would be interested in being a part of my experience and all were happy so while the elder son held my name plate and continued to do the tag he was working on I took a photo. Added a favourite and visited trackables.
Came with wazza9, watched the tagger paint, while holding wazza9's name tag. I wanted something different, so I asked the boys' mum, could he do a tag in my name. So I watched him do my name in pink Thanks for placing this virtual for our fun.
The idea behind this cache is great! I decided to opt for the easier version of things but I respect the premise! TFTC!
Dont remember any of this back in the 60s and 70s! A colourful addition to campus. Came here while in the middle of the University AL. Posting a pic of graffito we enjoyed, and one of our delicate contribution. Thanks for the fun!
Left home early this morning so that I could make a diversion here on my way into the office. Just before the 0700 cut off time I scrawled 'Hoojar' on a nice clear patch.Photo attached.Very quiet on campus at this time of the morning.Cheers
We tagged the tunnel!! With a similar story to the previous finder. We came through the tunnel following the Sydney Uni Adventure Lab. There we found James, a young tagger from Germany, and his dad. They were on a world trip for a year having just started their ten week Australian portion. We had a little chat explaining why we had stopped in the tunnel. Then we left for the next AL stop and then realised the Virtual Cache was back at the tunnel. We only read the notes on our way back. Oh my! Hope James and his dad are still there. And they were!! James, can you please help us? Gladly! He tagged Gaztek for us and here we have a photo of our little tag and his massive one. Happy travels, James and family. A favourite for us. Cheers... Gaztek
My family loves Banksy. We have a number of posters in our house that are copies of Banksy artworks. I think that self-shredding artwork is just genius. I remember watching that on the news, and my admiration for Banksy went through the roof.I visited Sydney University today to complete the adlabs and to do this virtual cache. It was a wonderful time of exploration. Lots of history at that place.I found an entrance to the tunnel much faster than I expected. I tried to find some interesting tags or artwork, but mostly there were small tags partly covering the more interesting works. Troll face appeared a few times. The stale meme that will never die?I did not come equipped with paint, so I took the selfie+tag option. See attached images.TFT virtual C.
Well, I Finally ventured onto USYD grounds, am I a bit envious of the social life on this campus, particularly on a Friday Night, I wish my Uni was this social. In reality, only 2 universities offer the program I currently study UTS and WSU, and as I live quite a way out from the City, I Chose to study at WSU, a downside of this is that our campuses feel dead most of the time with limited social life. Anyway, I found the Graffiti tunnel I've heard so many things about and even brought my own can of Spray paint, which I inadvertently had to carry around with me all afternoon through the city, but this was not necessary as I met a graffiti artist, approximately my age, however with much more experience with his TOTT than myself. I kindly asked if he could write something on these paint covered walls for me and he was more than happy to help me out, I asked if he could write "GG4", A 3 character phrase which is a shortened version of my geocaching username, and is what I use to sign those pesky nano log sheets, although this time the log sheet was anything but nano. He even offered to take a photo of me with the creation, It's as if my mind was being read, so a quick photo and I was off! Geocaching is amazing sometimes, you get to visit places, and meet amazing people you wouldn't usually interact with, that is why this cache is getting a Favorite point from me and I think Banksy would approve
Was at the Uni only last year, but today returned just for this virtual. The tunnel looks different everytime I got here. Today had the whole place to myself as most students would be sleeping this early on a Saturday.TFTC Wilbert67
One interesting tunnel here, did not expect to see such thing. Name added to the wall.In Sydney today with the whole day spare I headed to the Glebe area to find the two new virtuals in the area plus a few caches as I made my way around on foot. Thanks for the cache
Getting to GZ was a bit of a challenge as I chose to drive as close as I could and attempt to find a park. Hmm, not brilliant but I had little time after my flight and had meetings to get to shortly after, so it left me with little choice. Well, apart from leave the cache which was not really an option. At GZ, there was quite a crowd so I had to dodge people to get a look at the current artwork and choose a photo spot. Luckily, there were plenty of people adding their 'touches' to the walls, so when I whipped out the pens, I wasn't looking out of place. I drew a very light copy of my GC avatar with the pens I had. Not great art, but it did the job.Obligatory tasks done, I wandered up the stairs briefly, took in the art up there, then made a beeline out of the Uni which, with a couple of the roads closed for maintenance, made that difficult as well. Cheers ozbuckeye.
I love street art !!! This is a fun tunnel in my old Alma Mater. And was normally part of my route from Footbridge to whatever mischief I was in at the time. At night it was dark and scary as.The graffiti that were there then, were of the "wild" type. Done on the fly, by evil lurkers. The current art is of course sanctioned and controlled. In the bad old days, the scruffy student miscreants I ran with hung out in Glebe, Newtown and Redfern, dodging cops, etc. I was pretty hopeless at the art, and more spray got on me than on the walls. But I did scrawl a few pieces of urban poetry. Profound, no doubt, but as ephemeral as all genuine street art. One of my more talented mates created an Angel shaped tag for my signature. Angel of the fallen kind, presumably.. But it kind of stuck.Anyway, this may all be totally untrue. Thankyou ozbuckeye for the nostalgia trip.
A fun find with GeoLorikeet. Drew a banana because that gave me the idea for my username. More to follow. TFTV
4/5ths of Team GLISS! spent this weekend in Sydney. A visit to Sydney Uni was on our itinerary as a reconnaissance visit for studies in 2025. When planning the weekend, I noticed this virtual on the map, so we came prepared with a couple of spray cans. There were a lot of visitors to the Uni this weekend - perhaps other prospective students and family doing the same as us. We found a spot that was mainly tags and test sprays to "sign" the log. We went a bit bigger than originally intended - whoops! We had loads of fun and left our mark. Thanks for this fabulous Virtual.
Cool tunnel. There were a couple of artists working in the tunnel so lots of fumes. A friend recently made me this lovely badge so I put it in the photo.
Very cool indeed went to USyd with my daughter - she was showing me around - so I showed her this tunnel!!
Tftc - great little laneway / tunnel. Rushing back to RPA for a procedure we took the photo but failed to place anything identifiable in it. Found with Ashoeii. Fav point from me
With very limited artistic talent I attempt to graffiti a canary. It is yellow!?!A fun challenge. TFTC.
Knew GZ from an AdvLab wp completed a while back so also came prepared with necessary tools to complete the logging task correctly. Tunnel empty of artists today, other than T-rex 11 and myself, but still felt kind of cool and rebellious tagging our names as a few muggles walked by. Fav point awarded.
Attributes may advise not suitable for kids but now Im a teenager (just), Aunty mizmaz took me to do this virtual. Legally sanctioned graffiti was the best and most fun birthday present!
I walked through this tunnels literally hundreds of times years ago. It was a grafitti tunnel even then. Thanks for an interesting hide and your virtual.
Well, this turned out better than I expected. I took on an Artline pen to write something small and obscure on the wall, but arrived to find half a dozen artists working in the tunnel. I was bold and asked the friendly one if I could borrow his "brush" and if he could photograph me signing my initial...and that's exactly what happened. Good fun and well worth a fave point. TFTC
(4 of 4 today)Another miserable day weather-wise, but the Caching Calendar gods demand finds, so out I go. Decided to mainly target the three new hides on the Balmain peninsula. Then I looked a bit further afield for a final find.Managed to reach my target without getting too wet. Seems to be a recurring theme at the moment.###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###Found an hour park nearby and walked into the uni. Is that security checkpoint for me? Naha, probably for the demonstrations I managed to totally avoid.Found the tunnel and dove in. A bit disappointed most of it was just tags and blanked out areas. Finally found some art that took my fancy and captured the moment - photo attached.Plenty of students take this route so I was never alone here. Good thing there is no physical hide.Congrats on being awarded the Virtual.TFTVirtual
#14013 15:05I do like street art, but not so much graffitti. As I was "admiring" the artwork a tour passed by and the tour leader encouraged people to add some of their own to the wall. It might be my imagination, but is the underpass getting narrower with all those layers of paint? I posed in front of "Penisman".TFTC
How cool is this university campus! I thought I was walking around Hogwarts at one point Baristayan and I came here at the back end of a weekend in Sydney, and decided wed better go and check out this tunnel, especially after visiting the Banksy exhibition near Town Hall on Sunday. So cool! Heres an attempt at me filling the logging requirements (not quite as cool as what Baristayan managed!)Thanks for bringing us here, I never knew it existed
I hope my little sharpie attempt to a graffiti it counts Wonderful stop on our little Sydney holidayThanks for placing this cache!
On my way to an event this afternoon and popped on by the graffiti tunnel. Had my geo badge from the recent mega. Thanks for the virtual
Visited the virtual on my way to BO'C. I recall walking through here to do an AL WP. Gangles came for a visit too. TFTV
Well that was different!I personally don't like street graffiti, well the tagging sort that in my opinion completely ruins beautiful buildings and places in nature. So good on you Sydney Uni for creating a space where students who feel the need to do this sort of thing can release their urges and still keep the historic ambience of the place safe. These days I do think silo art is OK and in some towns plain old brick walls which now show scenes relevant to their culture is also OK (go to Kurri Kurri to see some good examples). The way these huge paintings are done, often in confined spaces and still maintaining the correct perspective is clever. So I arrived at The Tunnel and walked up and down to find something I liked. Nothing much really. The best one is a viking so that's my first photo. He wears my Geoname badge as his tiepin. Now I was carrying a can of spray paint so the next thing was to find a spot to leave my mark.Without breaking the final rule about graffitiing there isn't much space. Found a place, so what to put to represent my name???Well my geoname is created partly to honour my dog who was my first caching companion and helped make a couple of thousand finds so I drew a dog's footprint!TFTV # 5926
My family and I headed down from Brisbane to Canberra to spend the Easter break visiting relatives living here. The lure of a Mega event in town at the same time was just a coincidence, honestly .After an enjoyable stay, yesterday I commenced the long drive home. For the last two days the news has been reporting an impending severe weather event with rain predicted of biblical proportions. I left Canberra in spitting rain, but it soon stopped and under overcast skies I continued caching my way up to Goulburn, making the most of the relatively good weather. Upon arrival in Goulburn the weather took a turn for the worst with rain beginning to fall again. Eventually it became too heavy to cache in comfortably so I jumped back in the car for the drive towards Sydney where I retired for the night to avoid the downpour. So glad I stopped rather than trying to keep on driving home through the deluge. Heading off this morning there was evidence of many flooded roads, with lots of standing water and partial road closures still in existence. No problems with water here, just the battle with Sydney traffic and trying to find a car park. In the end I lucked in and found a parking spot only a short walk to GZ. Only one pair of muggles taking photos in the tunnel but they moved on almost straight away, allowing me to add my only little piece of graffiti to the wall. TFTC
Been in the graffiti tunnel before, but today was my first time wielding a spray can! Thanks for the fun weeknight adventure
I was first here in the '80's', go down 100 layers of paint. Back here for the AL WP, go down 20 layers. And here I am again for this Virtual graffiti experience, admiring the latest top layers of paint. 2TF. FP from me! TFTVC ozbuckeye
We saw this was published while at the Mega and a little surprised it had not been claimed. Given it was late and light traffic decided to detour on the way home but no Bunings Stores open to pick up supplies and I'm not much of an artist so just a bit of cardboard from the boot even though it was prime graffiti time. Amazing work by others. **FTF**Fav PS Half expected a Gigantor somewhere. Maybe there will be and a new puzzle to follow?
Itd be awesome if you guys get your hands dirty and do the cache as originally intended! Especially first to find
