What a beautiful spot! A bit of a sweaty walk up but really worth it for the fantastic views at the top.
Wow, what spectacular views from here. Has to be my favorite lookout Answers have been sent to CO. TFTVC deni_f
Here on a girls weekend away. Broke away from the celebrations to make the steep climb and to grab the virtual cache. Worth it for these fantastic views. Made a detour on the way back to explore the gun emplacements. TFTC
After visiting Potholes @ Boat Harbour for International EarthCache day, I headed into Nelson Bay for lunch and then around to this one, where parking was at a premium with the school holidays in full swing. The climb took me just over 24 minutes, but that was with frequent water stops and to allow muggles to pass coming down on the single lane sections. I restarted the stopwatch app to time my descent but forgot to stop it when I got to the bottom, so that will remain a mystery. My mug shot at the lookout is attached and my answer to Q2 has been sent to the CO. Many thanks and an FP for this fun virtual.
Wow - this was exhausting. I last climbed this hill more years ago than I care to remember, but the view from the top was spectacular. A group of people had their bags and drink bottles on top of the structure we needed to look at but we persisted and came up with the answer. Thanks for this virtual - its a really special spot. However, attempting it on a long weekend, in the school holidays on the first day of summer may not have been the wisest decision that weve made! Found today with 2pods.
Puff, puff, puff, puff - just as well there was a strong wind blowing to cover the sound of us and others puffing Good to remind ourselves how fabulous these views are! Even multiple holiday-makers and day-trippers dont take away from this. We were here with Goldberry17.The time for our ascent - think we spent more time in Shoal Bay traffic and looking for a park than walking up the hill!TFTC!
What a great way to start the morning. Beautiful part of the world with some beautiful people. Took us 20 minutes. Tftc and a fave
Answers sent to CO as requested. Well, certainly not as fit as we used to be but took our time making the climb, but this was worth it. Amazing views from here.
Wow! Forgotten how amazing the view is from up here. Also forgot about all the stairs. But they were soon forgotten when I saw the view. Picked a perfect spring day to do this Virtual. A favourite from me.
Staying up here for a few days and thought we'd start the day with agentle walk up a hill and around a hill and along a point and over to another beach and find a cache and and andWow what a view up here too! Also, description says take a picture from the lookout, but I reckon if you've been here, you recognise this structure behind me too.
Walk completed with Curloo and our two adult muggle children. A lovely part of the world. Thanks for the adventure.
Visited the Tomaree Summit with Jondub and kids. Such a beautiful walk and fantastic views! TFTC the virtual cache
It was a brilliantly fine day and perfect conditions to climb Mt Tomaree... I was impressed with the steel bridging and walkwaysalong with this the vista's were superb thanks for setting this cache and bringing me to this unique area cheers from NZ ...the answers have been sent to the CO
We are staying with friends in Newcastle. They took us out here today. We loved the walk up to the top. It's very like our Mt Maunganui at home. The views were spectacular today. The weather was perfect for walking too. Thanks for setting up this virtual.
Ive done this walk many times but this one was hard as hell Im so unfit and Im ready to change that
**#8000**This was our main event for the weekend. We initially had planned to do this cache on Sunday, as for some reason we assumed the Olympics event was on the Saturday? After realising our error we decided to do our milestone today, so after rounding up 20-odd dogs and nearly falling in a pothole, climbed a small mountain. It didn't feel *that* small half way up! In all fairness, Samuel's time was hobbled by at least a couple of minutes as he waited for me here and there....It was a cool spot for our milestone, looking back over at Yacaaba, our 2000th cache milestone, a bit over 6 years prior....Thanks for the cache!
***#8000***With the Cosmic Quest souvenir active, we decided we better get some of the more local caches to buff our point scores up. After an early FTF this morning, were going to finish off the Dogs Head and then doing something special for our 8k end of copy-paste First of all, what an awesome spot. Our 8000th had been sneaking up for a while, but we needed something cool close to home, and this was an excellent option. We started the walk from the carpark and started our timer once we reached the trackhead waypoint. After a long trudge through the bush, uphill, we reached the stairs, which continued up, and then the views started to appear. Seriously a magical area of the world, reached the top and collected answers, walked around for a bit and took it all in. A bunch of photos included with the log, and an FP for sureThanks for placing and maintaining this cache Deni_f, and thanks for something interesting to add to the area
I made it. Took longer than time posted in activity however I was just happy to get to the pinnacle.2nd time up here. first was in 2017. TFTC.
What a great view! I was spending time in the region whilst my son attended work experience and checking out the area. This walk came highly recommended, so I grabbed this geocache and a couple of others whilst here. Thanks Deni_f.
Guudji yiigu. Took the walk up and up and up. The view was so worth all the effort. I could see Yaacaba where there is an old cache and the lighthouse for another Virtual. TFTC.
Walk wasnt nearly as long as expected but still a bit of a thigh burner Beautiful views, well worth the climbTFTC
Together with many locals we "climbed" up the little hill and enjoyed the view over the bay!Thank you for the virtual!
My family and I headed down from Brisbane to Canberra to spend the Easter break visiting relatives living here. The lure of a Mega event in town at the same time was just a coincidence, honestly .After an enjoyable stay, yesterday I commenced the long drive home. For the last two days the news had been reporting an impending severe weather event with rain predicted of biblical proportions. I left Canberra in spitting rain, but it soon stopped and under overcast skies I continued caching my way up to Goulburn, making the most of the relatively good weather. Upon arrival in Goulburn the weather took a turn for the worst with rain beginning to fall again. Eventually it became too heavy to cache in comfortably so I jumped back in the car for the drive towards Sydney where I retired for the night to avoid the impending downpour. So glad I stopped rather than trying to keep on driving home through the deluge. Heading off this morning there was evidence of many flooded roads, with lots of standing water and partial road closures still in existence. After finding some caches around Sydney and battling the hellish traffic I continued the drive north and stopped in for a visit to this cache to stretch the legs.Funnily enough, last time I was in this area was during another trip home from Canberra, this time back in Early January 2020 after the notorious bushfires put paid to a planned hike around Kosciuszko National Park. On that occasion I went for a walk out to Final Island. As of yesterday I was not expecting to be able to visit this cache due to the predicted severe weather event. There was much relief when the clouds cleared this morning to reveal sunny, blue sky. Took me a while to find an parking spot, one which added an extra bit of length to the walk, as the mountain and foreshore seemed a popular place to be today.Even though I was hiking 13 of the highest peaks in Mount Kosciuszko only a couple of months ago (it only took 4 more years to get there!!), Ive done pretty much nothing since then, and my lack of fitness was sorely showing on the hike up. I didn't end up timing myself, I was just happy to make it to the top without having a heart attack. Kudos to the lady who was pushing a pram the whole way. I was surprised though by the amount of paving and bitumen for a grade 5 track. Nice view of the lighthouse on Fingal Island from up here, which brought back memories from when I visited last time. In fact every which way you turn up at the summit are great views on offer. Very happy to have stopped by to enjoy the scenery. TFTC
I've visited this summit a few times, the previous time after a boozy evening at Shoal Bay Country Club before attending a training session nearby. It doesn't appear to have got any easier to ascend. Plenty of people on their way up and down this morning. Thanks to the CO for the Virtual and the tired legs.
Picture from the top. Im not sure why my partner didnt push me back down at some point with all my complaining but boy was the view worth it. Answers sent
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13134.After watching this one for the day on Sunday thinking surely one of the locals will get it, when I woke up at 5:00 and saw it was still not logged I figured I had to have a crack at it. Ive walked up here countless times and in the pre dawn light this morning it was still warm and very sticky. Made it to the top in 14:01 and gathered my information and photos before being able to sit for 20 minutes and wait for the sun to come up. Answers have been confirmed by the CO and I believe that I might be the {FTF}. Thanks Deni_f for the cache.
