Logs
A nearby slip is being repaired and the road is down to one lane, with traffic lights restricting access to gz.The cache has been removed until works are complete.
Found on day out. This one was classic, could see it as soon as I got out of the car
Out today, grabbing a few caches and we decided to stop to grab this one. It was spotted almost immediately and we could sign the log.All appears to be in good condition. Thanks for the cache #1768
A solo excursion for Mr Coblet.I tried to look for this cache a few weeks ago but there was a council worker nearby cutting some bushes so I abandoned the mission and decided to give it another try today. This time it looked like the coast was clear but just as I parked I heard a vehicle approaching and couldn't believe it when a tree trimming car appeared, cutting the foliage at the edge of the road to keep it clear. What are the odds of encountering tree maintenance on both my visits?Fortunately this time the vehicle was moving and I just had to wait a couple of minutes for it to pass before looking for the cache, which I quickly spotted.Aside from the trimmer there were no other cars on the road so it was definitely a perfect time for the trimming to be done.I'm very pleased to finally get this one. Thanks rustynz.
Well, it was really easy find, but I liked container's camouflage Thanks rustynz for the cache!
We had noticed this new trail of caches pop up, so when Team Welsh suggested an excursion today we happily agreed. We made a plan to tackle the caches from the Swanson end, being closest to home. But when we realised there was an event up here today at 1pm we revised the plan to start and finish at the Forest Hill Rd end. Thanks for making the planning (and parking) easy by labelling the caches L and R!A nice quick pull off the road and find here with a straight forward hint, thanks.
As we pulled in to the side of the road we spotted a car full of cachers, covered in cream and cake! I wonder where they had just been! This started as a quick and easy find, and ended up in chaos. I'm just glad the traffic is quiet along here at the moment. So, found the cache, unscrewed the lid, removed the little bottle. Then dropped the lid, the cache feel out of its noose, the log fell in the road and I dropped Daddypig's phone (it missed the road and landed in the dirt). Luckily I managed to retrieve everything, and at least I didn't lose my pen.
We were making our way along all the L caches of the route and love how all the caches have nice big areas to pull over safely and as we were out early we didn't come across any cachers until the event but I can imagine there would be a fair few finds on all the UR caches today. Thanks for placing them all.
M25: gray clouds are coming in, not stopping me and supernanny from finding caches and heading to the event. Nice and easy find, log all good and signed here. TFTC.
Had some time to fill in before an event at Rose Hellaby House, so collected a few caches on the way. Nice parking close to gz, and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks for the cache and smilie
Good time to do these scenic drive ones as withthe road closed tgere is alot less traffic. Bit of a stretch for Mr 8 but we got it. TFTC
Wow, that is rather interesting. Thanks, Rusty, for all the info you are finding about West Auckland...my " hood"Here is Net61, who was soon located and signed the log.
When I was quite young, this place was fascinating, it always seemed so mysterious the dome building and what ever uses it seemed to be used for. Apparently for navigation, but I think it might also be used for other more sinister reasons, like spying. Who really knows. So I parked up at the entrance to the 'spy' dome and walked safely to the cache, doggie still in the car, she's had a walk but might get another one soon. Cache all good here rusty. Later on, I passed by this way again, and saw a woman parked in the same place.... a geocacher? Might see some logs later maybe. That's very interesting about what you say rusty about this location, I have walked to Te Toiokawharu many years ago and it was flamin' hard work! I doubt the track to there will ever reopen and if it does, will I ever return.
Out with merlot at Piha & on the way home she was keen to grab this FTF. So with a bit of leaving one car on West Coast Rd & taking one car to GZ, we happily grabbed a joint FTF. First of 2024 for me. [TFTC]
Our caching expedition to Piha finished early because of rain and as there were no logs on this cache by the time we reached the car park by Elevation cafe (which has sadly closed) I pulled in and waved down Avoyager who had been following me and suggested we attempt ftf. She parks up and jumps in my car and a few minutes later we arrive at gz and sure enough we find a blank log for a joint {FTF}.
