Thank you for hosting this geocaching Event! The date of the Event has passed. We automatically archive Events after 30 days (60 days for Mega- and Giga-Events). Attendees can still log archived Events, log trackables, and share their experiences.
Great way to end the weekend catching up with and meeting everyone there. I'm looking forward to exploring the other ACT heritage sites I've yet to visit!Thank you Oz Mega Committee for organising and hosting this event, hopefully, we get some new recruits!
Fantastic event! I went caching today with baristayan, buckoraider, DeadThief, Scaphoid and Turtle284, we were a bit late to this event though because I was really keen on getting a cache close to home that I have had trouble with in the past! Anyway, once settled in at the event, we played bingo and chatted around on a lovely Sunday afternoon. Great to see such a big turnout! Then, we were off to the new challenge cache. TFTE Committee! The postcards were an awesome initiative, huge thank you to the one and only Barb2e!
We had a perfect afternoon onsite for the 3 pm start at Kambah with sunshine and no one else onsite for our event .Many thanks the Barb for the informative Heritage talk . There were plenty of people trying the gadget caches and watching the fishing cache demo. Many thanks to the Heritage Festival for the Grant and inclusion into the festival .And a huge thanks to my own Committee members for all the assistance and set up of a great event that attracted a nice attendance including a lot of newcomers .
#4787 After a good day picking up some higher DT caches we finally made it down south for this event.A very informative event with some interesting displays. Thanks to the committee for all your efforts.
Chooo ooo [Attended]. Nice to see so many muggles turn up! A good mix of history and geocaching! Thanks for organising Oz Mega Committee!
#22126 @1610After today's orienteering at Wild Cattle Flat, I explored the back roads attempting to find a few remote caches. Then headed back to Canberra in time to join in the latter part of this event. Thanks for the event.
After a big day out walking in the hills yesterday, I managed to have a very quiet day today until it was time to head south for a cache and the Capital Geobash Heritage Week event at Kambah. The walk for the cache was not too far and nice and flat. I was a simple find and I was off to the event. There was a great turnout and plenty of activities to go alongside all the talking and planning up upcoming outings. Once the formalities of the event were over and the prizes handed out there was one last new cache to visit. A short tree ladder climb, although a couple of people proved it could be done without a ladder. Heaps of fun. Thanks for the cache Oz Mega Committee46333.2 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & April 2020 Kar the Old A#416**Albida**
Great event thanks for organising Oz Mega Committee Lovely to see everyone turn up and new people get into the swing of the event.
Thanks for organising this great event! I'm inclined to go out and buy myself a tree fishing pole now... ??
Thank you for the wonderful event! It was educational even for experienced cachers. Thank you for the effort putting us in range of amazing places unique to Canberra with the postcards. It was great to see new people join our group via the Heritage Festival!
It was great to see so many cachers and muggles attend this event today. Thanks to ACT Heritage for getting behind geocaching and supporting our events it was fun to have a focus on Canberra's historic places too. Thanks for organising Oz Mega Committee??
Met some fellow geocachers and as I had worked for ACT Heritage for 15 years I was able to share some of my knowledge of the sites where caches have ben placed.
Nice spot for an event and quite a good turnout here today! I've only found 6 of those caches so I was well short of bingo, but somehow I won a cooler bag anyway so thanks for that! Thanks for the event!
I was looking forward to this event. I had not been here for quite a while. It was also fun to meet some old and new cachers. The turn out was quite good. The OzMega committee had prepared a fun bingo card, nice displays and even brought some of the gadget caches to play with. There was a challenge for a fishing cache and a selection of the Heritage ACT postcards. Thank you for organising this event.
First ACT geocaching event ( if you don't count a CITO ). Stopped and talked to some locals and some interstaters. Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
[FTF] I was in Canberra for the night while traveling home after picking up a wiz bang telescope for my son in Parramatta. The Canberra stop over was my treat for doing the drive for him, so a few key caches were on my to do list. Last night while I was setting up my to do list for today I spotted this Event and even though it was later than I would have liked with the drive home to Geelong tonight I wanted to make it none the less, I don't get to interstate events often.I was fashionably late (1 Hour) lucky it was a 2 hour Event. The reason I was late was of course caches caches and more caches. I had a full day with lots on my to do list. What was even more amazing is I actually got everything on the list for the day. That almost never happens because I usually put more on the list than is possible to do.Turns out being late was a blessing as my name was far enough down the sign in sheet and I was drawn out for the First to find. Woo Hoo I love a First to Find.Thank you Oz Mega Committee for hosting the Event
This was a great event. It was well set up and all went to plan. Thanks for organising.
Left a family engagement to swing by this one quickly. Good turn out which was good to see.Chatted to a few people before having to duck away again. Thanks for hosting Oz Mega Committee
A great event! Nice to see activities to help introduce new geocachers into the game. Thanks to all involved in the event!
Woo hoo! What a great event! Loved chatting with cachers about the local historic sites they had visited whilst caching. Gave me some great ideas about places I might like to visit next! Such a great way to spend an afternoon. Thanks to everyone who made it possible

I would have liked to stay at this event. I caught Covid-19 in Tuesday last week. I thought it would be in the public interest not to remain and possible make others sick. I have been stuck in bed unable to move all week long. This is the sickest I have been in my while life. Enjoy the event everyone.
Thank you for this event. I enjoyed the brownies! It was cool to see some familiar gadget caches and some trackables too. Im grateful the gov helped out with funding to make the Geobash even better, such a special event. A good turnout today on a pleasant Autumn afternoon. Thanks for all the effort and memories surrounding and during the Geobash.
An excellent and informative event. Thanks to the organisers and in particular Barb2e for her informative talk on ACT heritage.
Another great event from the ozmega committee, I even got presented the geoscience geocoin I won, but didnt collect at the MEGA following the wedding. TFTE.
Caching around East Coast and a bit inland for a while. TFTC. A great turnout and meet up with the local cachers.
Nice to catch up with all. Stayed an hour talking to others before it was getting cold the sun set and all went thier ways. Great to talk all things caching. Thank you Oz Mega Committee for putting this event on and organizing it all.

Cache # 11241 on 21 Apr 2024Was glad I could find some time this afternoon to attend this great event! The event organisers did a great job highlighting the various ACT heritage sites around the ACT, I found out I still have to visit some of them! And congratulations to Barb2e for the recognition she received for all her work linking the mega event with heritage places - well deserved! Happily I even managed to score an FTF by sneaking away from the event for a few minutes. Thank you Oz Mega Committee for hosting this useful event and the fun!
Great to attend the Exploring ACT Heritage with Geocaching event here and to join in on all the chatter of caching exploits. Repeated some of the wonderful gadgets from the mega, got to play bingo and won a prize. Was happy to offer it up for a redraw though as Id won the same prize at the mega for being a volunteer who had gone above and beyond.Such a pleasure to be a part of such a great caching community, and to be able to share out hobby with new enthusiasts. ?? Youre welcome! Thanks Oz Mega Committee for organising ?? and for all the work that has gone into to organising such a bonanza of activities for us all. Just one more ????
What a great event! Always great to see some new faces and I reckon we might have landed a few recruits out of all that ??Thanks for organising! Very fortunate to have local legend Toy Hunters sign his Mt Painter postcode, thatll be worth millions one day.
This was my first event after arriving home from an overseas trip. It was good to catch up with so many friends and see such a great roll-up at this well organised event. Congratulations to all involved, especially barb2e, who put so many hours of effort into ensuring that all cachers had an incredible and informative experience during Capital Geobash and today's event. Thanks to ACT Heritage for your support. SL
A lovely afternoon chatting with cachers old and new. Some fun and games with bingo, tree fishing demonstrations, and showing off some awesome heritage work. Thanks for a great time!
Had lots of fun. Thanks for the premium membership! You should definitely see me around in more caches this year
Congratulations to the Oz Mega Committee for a wonderful, well organised Mega and todays extended event. So much to see and do. Wonderful to catch up with so many from the caching family and potential newbies. An extra special congratulations to Barb2e for her well deserved special award ?? Thanks to all for making this event fun. Thanks to ACT Heritage ?? ?? ??
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra in anticipation of ANZAC day. With a cold morning it was a later start than originally planned. Knowing we wanted to be in Kambah by 3pm a list was written heading south today. Of course the list was just too long but we got to a fun event and claimed a few smilies along the way. Thanks again team for all your hard work. Fun afteroon. Alas we still didn't win a prize! Lol. This was a nice way to fill up my Sunday afternoon in a new place for me to explore (as evidenced by the whole one location I was able to tick off on the bingo grid, there are plenty of others for me to get around to visiting too).Great to have some friendly faces with much to discuss - particularly Sims_family who had mysteriously apparated from Victoria!A few newbies in the crowd were also quite nice to see; it seemed as though there were quite a few things for them to explore that were set up today. Thanks to the Oz Mega Committee for hosting this event!
Thanks, KittyKatch and ACT Heritage. My favourite caches are ones that take me to historic places that I haven't visited before. TFTE.
A great chance to catch up with friends and talk to some people who were new to the hobby. Thanks for organising
