We failed to gain entry to this cache earlier in the year, when it seems we had the wrong numbers. Today we found the clearly marked correct numbers and the cache was soon in hand. A clever cache which gets a favourite from us. Found with markhnz. TFTC
very good and interesting log hide.bit of a stretch to get hand in right place to dial this in.couple of goes and i had it open.TFTCi
With Gap (of Fap and Gap) Manawatu, here we go!**The Long and Winding Road - The Beetles**The long and winding roadThat leads to your doorWill never disappearI've seen that road beforeIt always leads me hereLead me to you doorSpotted the cache from the car, so we were already winning. Our biggest challenge came from contorting our frames so as not to enter the property - A feat all on its own Gap managed to apply the right combination and we were in. At about that time, the dog began to protest, and someone growled him / her from inside. Yes, that was our cue to leave Applause for this construction - Thanks ZL2SGA. TFTC.
Was going to by pass this, sounded complicated, was pleasantly surprised when it opened 2nd time around...yayy
EtherNonBinary has Venturer Scouts over this side of town on a Wednesday evening, so I've been slowly finding one or two caches between drop-off and pickup. This was the first for tonight. And for your first cache, you've executed it very well!Only one of the rotors had been scrambled, which resulted in a very quick decode of the numbers, but still an enjoyable find. Thanks!
I have been meaning to do this cache for a long time. But wanted to save it for when I had the kids with me and today was the day. With a bit of patience we got it opened and signing and relocking was simple. Thanks for this cache ZL2SGA, so good to get a extra bit of puzzling while hanging out in garage. Found with cacheclaws and minecraftlad
Found by me and Ethermiss while we were out and about for I can't remember why. Thought the tape measure was the log at first, pulled it all the way out and found no logs. Bummer. Ah. Then I saw the what was underneath. Um. Okay, that explains what I saw on the tape. But, no. So... 24 combinations. And then I saw the hint. Okay, 6 combinations. Didn't take long!---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. 16 June 2024 12:44 TFTC zl2sga for placing this cache, number 14479 for me. Finding the cache was easy enough, signing the log another matter entirely! It's amazing what I failed to spot....
#14,846. I decided to have a weekend away as it was my birthday in the past week and I wanted to have some fun geocaching up in the Manawatu. Stayed overnight in Palmie and headed here on a fine sunny Sunday. We parked nearby and walked over to the cache. Found the lockbox Ok but misread the ruler and tried various combos without success. Gave up and went to do other caches. But Infoferret had sent out an SOS to her friends and one replied saying there was info on both sides. So back we went and sure enough we had both missed the obvious. Hmm. Time to try more combos and I was off to get a notebook to record them when IF shouted it was open. Sweet. Signed the logsheet and replaced the cache as found with a random combo. Thanks ZL2SGA for hiding it here. Favourite from me.
After having "coffee with the king" and PopMac, Flowerydaze and I went on a search for caches around Palmerston north and this was one of them. Quite a tricky little cache but we must have got lucky as one our second try, Hey Presto we were in. TFTC ZL2SGA
This was a fun one. I got out my notepad and pen with the idea in mind that I was going to be methodical about it. I suggested a number to Talla64 and he gave it a go. Didn't work. I duly recorded the fact. I suggested another - it worked and the lockbox opened. Log signed and we went on our way. After attending the Coffee for the King event Talla64 and I went to find a few caches and this was one of them. I wonder what the surrounding neighbours think of people hanging over the fence in this garden. Thanks for the fun ZL2SGA. FP awarded.
I had hoped to find this cache yesterday, but researching it, I realised I didn't have time between appointments. So today, afterwork, was the day. I had no idea what to expect. It sounded quite involved. So I got to GZ and quickly found the host. Oh. a TOTT needed. Thankfully, I keep the necessary in the car, so trip one back to the car. No, I got the wrong one. So trip two back to the car. Right. Ingenious design and concept, so a favourite from me. Thank you so much, for this cache, z12sga. Another dot day filled.
A nicely designed cache, but without legible numbers, our chances of gaining entry were low, although we did try a few combinations, but without success.
This was a fun cache. We thought we had it worked out quickly until we re read..... the not in this order. As we were trying to figure out the code the CO arrived. Mr B was able to crack the code and we had log in hand.Nice effort gone into this cache and worth a fav point.Thank you zl2sga for placing this cache.Log signed as B&PFind number 5183
Found.Ok this one is cool, i only just upgraded myself to premium yesterday so this one is my first 'not just hidden' cache.I live so close to this - i watched them build their new fence as i would walk my chihuahua! To think i had looked at it so many times lol
I wasn't sure what to expect here as I approached. Thankfully the cache was easy to find but after some fumbling about I had the required info and then it was time to solve.Using no real technique I had the cache on approx my 5th or 6th try.T F T C zl2sga.I was in Palmy this evening and naturally decided to find a couple of caches. After finding two good missions I selected a small walk around Kelvin Grove not far from where I used to live.As it got dark I was reminded of my first ever Geocaching outing which was a trail of caches through Kevin Grove which, while it had more than this evening, was not terribly dissimilar.
With plans changing tmann421 and I found ourselves with a bit of free time in PN todayThe three of us (including Mr Doggie) enjoyed this cacheNice hide and quick retrieval Signed log tm/ww NZTFTC
*Located the cache with woolwood9* Thought we would come up to Palmerston North for some caches and stay over but we ended up going to Feilding after dinner for quite a bit of night caching.Stayed over in Feilding so we could attend the event in Palmerston North on Sunday afternoon.Nice cache here - enjoyed the concept with the numbers, soon open!*Found on Sunday morning.* SL *tm/ww NZ*
I came up to Palmy today to watch the Hurricanes play the Rebels. Managed to fit in a bit of caching beforehand as well. Isn't always the last one you try. TFTC
Very first combo-lock so Im giving this one a fav point. Puzzle was exciting without being too difficult. C.O popped out and said hi as we were mulling over what to do. Had a quick chat as we were signing the log before we all carried on with our days. Many thanks C.O
So only found out today that I had to make 4 finds, so fou d a great patch to make a bunch of finds, thanks for the placement, great walk to the cache, the cache took longer than it need but loved it and easily gets a fav from me
Stopped off for on my way to Woodville for the day. A favorite point from me. Thanks zl2sga for the cache.
Well this took some time trying all the possible combinations after the first digit which we were given on the site but finally we got it right and the treasure was opened to us . This is well planned and well worth a fav point from me . No problems with muggles today when we were out on our electric bikes and had a plan to visit these 5 newer caches in this area all by same cache owner , . The rain - or shower - threatened but held off well . All was very quiet and the cache was soon seen and then extracted, signed and returned . This series , if you call it that ! , - the caches were all thoughtfully chosen and placed and it is good to see good quality caching with new cachers . Much appreciated and well done . We took nothing and left nothing at any of the five caches .
A quick find and then to work things out.Signed the log and re-concealed and reset as found.TFTC!
Having driven up to Palmy yesterday afternoon to spend some time with my 'NZ family', I left late lunchtime to head back down south again, but I had of option of taking the scenic route via a few recently published caches...This was my second stop. I am always wary of caches on private property in full public view, and did feel very subconscious doing this one. But I had no issues working my way through the 6 possible combinations until I could access the logbook. I'm glad I didn't have to spend too long there though. Thanks for putting out something a bit different.
On such a beautiful summer day we naturally wanted to get in a little geocaching. Three new caches in close proximity in this area were ideal to stop at on our way out for an al fresco lunch. We've had to visit this cache more than once as the hint has been being tweaked and now finally is at its most helpful. We had previously been misled by following it exactly as it was then. We got in touch with the CO and got a helpful response as to what was the problem. So today our attempt was straightforward and quickly successful. An interesting idea for a gadget cache . TFTC zl2sga
*** draft log for stats tracking, more later ***GCAJVAQ Put in the code lockbox (Manawatu)3 February 2024T17:38:14 NZDTzl2sgaNicely constructed hide. We were initially caught out by the smudged numbers on the back, but CO was quick to point out our mistake. Thanks for the quick reply & cache!
Birthday party day, but time to head out for some more wine and a cache to boost my find days to make this an 11. Nice hide here and got it after a few combinations. Today is our daughters 30th birthday and were off to Palmy to celebrate with her today, then again tomorrow at a party for family and friends. Good excuse to make a couple of local finds!
Today reminds me of when pursuing my 366 day streak of consecutive daily finds no matter the weather - meteorological or personal. It's a right shirty day - cold, wet and windy - perfect for maintenance, but I do need two geocaches for my sixth loop of the calendar. This is my second. Took me a couple of minutes to come up with the code. Excellent idea. TFTC
Tried many different combinations and after about 40 minutes of tinkering still nothing worked. We went home and just as we sat down we saw a message from the CO. he gave a hint and updated the page hint and we went back and put in our suspected code and the log was shorty signed! [FTF] at 10:12PM Thanks for a new creative cache!I wrote in the log and placed the cache carefully back as found. TFTC. Thanks zl2sga for thus cool cache! I love the ones hidden in plain sight with no need to duck into bushes or pretend to tie my shoe laces... After reading the hint we tried a few combinations and think we had almost tried them all before getting it right Yay {2TF} with plannerPat. Very clever for a first cache, and thankful for the hints!
