After a fun afternoon on the water with Team737 doing the new 2.1m AHD cache, I headed around to this one which has been on my must-do list for an embarrassingly long time. Even though I often struggle with D1s, this was a quick find as I neared GZ and then, wow, what a nicely themed LBH!Many thanks and an FP for the fun cache.
Dropped eldest novo off at a safe drivers course in the CBD this morning. Youngest geokid and I then took off for three hours for some geocaching. A bit of fun here to get us going this morning, nicely played team737. Oh bugger it seems I forgot our stamp (it's sitting on my desk at home ugh) so I'll come back tomorrow and stamp our book as well - eldest geokid has his prac tomoz not far from here. TFTLBH, lee737. We also discovered a couple of TBs.#2043
TFTC! 15 September 2024 5:24:01PM 8466 thanks to lee737 for the cache! Joined in the fun with ConnieandRick, n0w0rries, Nirgalagrin, Paul the Hippy with the 6 of us heading up to complete the Frying Pan plus any other caches that came our way! N0worries was after a letterbox and this one became the target! A fantastic cache here and well deserving of a favourite point!
With a group of 6 of us, 5 from Melbourne and one from Sydney, we'd planned a day trip to do Frying Pan and a few others. A 3.35am wake up, and landed in Newcastle at 7.55. The weather forecast was 9mm of rain, thunderstorms and 47km winds. But this morning was in fact warm sunshine and a still and pleasant day. Not however by the time we got to this one. It was raining and the wind was howling. Undaunted, we parked close by and trudged through the undergrowth, well you can't get any wetter than we were. But imagine our delight at this lovely hide. QueenAnt made the find here, and then we all stood back and watched in amusement. Gets an FP for sure. Thanks to QueenAnt, n0w0rries, Nirgalagrin and Paul the Hippy for a great and successful day.
Awesome cache Loved the idea. Support vehicle for the melbourne crew. TFTC favourite awarded.dropped some trackables.
A very long day trip from the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne to Frying Pan and back. Our crew consisted of nirgalagrin, ConnieandRick and queenant89 from Victoria and Paul_the_Hippy drove up from Sydney to meet up with us for the fun day out.We managed to find a nice assortment of caches and this one caught my eye as I needed a Letterbox Hybrid in NSW.There was a contractor mowing the sticks on the road verge when we arrived, but he headed back to his trailer as we made our way to GZ.When I got there, queenant89 had the cache open and layed out for us all to admire.I had remembered to bring my Letterboxing Album (Autograph Book) and stamp with me today. It is always great to find a LBH with a personalised stamp in it.The rest of the team stamped and signed my book as well as the log book.A fitting end to our epic day trip.Soon afterwards, the rain set in with a vengeance so we went to the pub for dinner and Paul_the_Hippy headed back to Sydney. After dinner it was time to head out to the airport for our (delayed) flight home.Quality over quantity today. A most satisfying day indeed.---***Added to my list of Favorites!***
Tftc, love this kind of cache. Bit of a puzzle and then a nice spot for an afternoon walk. All quiet here
Find No: 9574. Helps to read the full description before you go off half-cocked but got there in the end, found a couple similar to this, love it, gets a favorite, thanks for the cache lee737!!
Very cool cache but not the easiest walk in thongs. The chain was very cool an FP from me!
Thongs were a poor choice! When will we learn! Fortunately at least the mozzies are quiet in the dead of winter. The twist at GZ was very fun. FP from us. TNLN TFTC
todays tott is a big umbrella. the trailhead is a little deceiving on the map, as it starts a little down the road, but i soon found it. with the trail a running torrent, was no chance of seeing any MB's (i dont think). a piece if silver gaffa tape pricked my geosenses, and i spotted the container from a small distance. was maybe a chain from it. i had guessed correctly what i was in for, as i have found a couple like it before. thanks for the interesting letterbox. fav from me. love the stamp as well.
Such a great letterbox, one of the best I have done in a while. I have seen a similar cache on YouTube but its great to find one in reality. It was really fun and rewarding to get the cache. Very well set up here! TFTC
Reperio 08:35Day 3 of our Newcastle geocaching escapade, and Master Vitruvius and I were up early to tackle some of the inner city caches before the rest of Newy started to arrive. We parked along the street at just the right time and headed down to GZ where the cache was soon spotted. Butthe surprise was still lying in wait. Little MV loved retrieving the cache, and this one was one of the highlights of our trip. Gratias lee737As a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
What a cache! And what amazing camo (colours)! And now I understand the extra chain offset from the computed coordinates that your description requires.I had a good laugh.Cache type 10 of 10 for me today. TFTH!As for chains, now youre talking my language!Did you know, the chain (surveyors chain) first appeared in Dutch publications in 1607 (and English since 1610)Its been widely used since then, across the Empire and Commonwealth for distance (and area) measurements, in particular for land. Many of these are less common than they used to be!80 chains = a mile10 chains = furlong1 chain = 66 feet = 22 yards = cricket pitch10 chains x 1 chain = an acre
Love this. Excellent cache, nicely thought out and a great size! A FP from me!
We looked for this one at 5pm on a Sunday evening. Not many mountain bike riders around, and even the mozzies were few and far between - just the one that ended up between palms. Enjoyed tracing the chains! We used to love walking these tracks, in preparation for overseas hikes - before the mountain bikes moved in in such numbers! Worth a favourite - excellent camoflage! TFTC!
Find#1862Nice easy find at GZ. I was so happy when this DT was published as I have so few of these. Log and cache in good condition. TFTC
Mr Minion and I were in the area grabbing some caches today and stopped for this one. A nice walk in beautiful weather, Mr Minion walked right past the cache in blended in well and then we had fun getting to the cache. Thanks for the cache lee737 fav point for the fun tnln replaced as found sl
I'm old enough to remember those chain letters...I never really worried about passing them on though...but at the risk of doubling my DNFs...I might have to follow the directions in this particular chain mail...definitely not the sort of chain mail I'm used to, a steel cut proof glove. TFTC
Another find with Justontime today. Forgot the Aerogard but the breeze kept the mozzie at bay. TFTC TEAM737.
Found today with shaneo58.What a cool cache.Great theme and liked the retrieval.TFTC Team737
#FTF Saw this appear on my map last night and was excited to see a brand new cache particularly a mailbox hybrid that was a LARGE one. With it being a leap day and had most of the day free I was so excited to try and get first to find because it was close to where I live. It was straightforward going between the two way points. Love the theming of this cache. Favourite point (when I have another one to give) for this. Signed the log, placed everything back and retrieved the TB that was in cache to move it on. Seems luck was in my favour. Be careful of the spiders though!! TFTC Team 737!
Letterbox caches are my favourite, so I was very happy to see a new one pop up. A 43C arvo was not the right time to find this cache however, but I pushed through and found the cache without too much difficulty. Mozzie repellent definitely helped here, and the bushland was nice too. Awesome container at GZ and I love to see a custom made stamp with it too. TFTC!!! #2270
