Found with catnap777 on our Pentridge escape to Melbourne. This was our first visit to "Bluestone College" (both defore and after it's closure) and Boy! Did we get an education! This place is huge. We got ourselves in a bit of a tangle trying to complete the two multis in this series and the AdLab simultaneously in an effort to not double back on ground already covered. Jumping between platforms and caches turning letters into numbers and back into letters to then turn them all into numbers for coords, we soon had ourselves in a fine higgledy-piggledy mess. In the end though, after some double and tripple checking, we eventually found ourselves at GZ of each and signing some very well camoed caches leading us off again to the final. 16 November 2024 13:01What an awesome set of caches, with almost every variety catered for. dalerious and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here wandering around looking for all the clues. We definitely racked up the steps going from one end to the other, and everywhere in between. We got a bit tangled there for a while, forgetting which clue to keep for which cache; this meant visiting some areas multiple times.Apart from that minor setback, and it was only a setback because the heat was becoming oppressive. We loved the detail you put on the cache page, and also for the cache containers.A bit of history from my past........My family used to have a Mobil Service Station on the corner of Bell Street and Suffolk Avenue back in the late 60's early 70's and I remember driving past Pentridge Prison when it was a prison as a little girl.My how things have changed.......I like the way it has been developed. A good mix of accommodation and private living, but also keeping the history alive as well.dalerious and I have been looking forward to coming here and seeing how you have implemented the caches into this environment. Well, it works. You have done an amazing job.dalerious and I have shared out our favourite points so that he has given the 2 mysteries a fave, and I have given each of the multis plus the trad a fave each.Awesome caches GJMMelb, thank you for providing them for us to enjoy.
Headed to this part of Pentridge after the CITO. Found what was needed although was a bit worried about the brick since I interpreted etched into brick differently but the date was there twice and I couldnt see another so I went with it. With the check sum looking good, I moved onto GZ but couldnt spot anything on the host that matched the T rating. Re-read the description and couldnt see how it could be at the host mentioned in the hint so widened my search and spotted something. Thanks.
Headed here for an event this morning. Arrived early enough to grab this multi and the AL. Nice and easy to get the answers. A short hunt at GZ and it was soon located. This area had certainly changed since I was here 30 years ago. A favourite point for the hide.
Another fun walk around Pentridge along with another history lesson. I enjoyed learning more about this suburban prison and the goings on from behind bars. TFTC
Steadily working my way through the Pentridge series of caches. As we rounded the corner we spotted bigsnuffler trying to make a run for it.We cut off his retreat and soon found where he had hidden the goodies!Nice to catch up with you today mate. An excellent morning in the Bluestone College.
What a nice little multi to start my caching day. A quick search for the numbers soon had me at gz where I bumped into Nirgalagrin and NoWorries for the find. I headed off for a day in Melbourne attending a few events, visiting family and filling in the rest of my time caching. Unfortunately some of my plans fell through so i cut the day short and headed home early. HMPP - Pentridge Industry and Education is find number 4,097 for me. A fun small sized multi-cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Merri-Bek City. I am logging this one on Wednesday 2 Oct 2024 at 3:21 pm and the weather is Few Clouds 18C 50% 4 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy GJMMelb.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Another breakfast and CITO out near Pentridge, so I arrived early and walked around doing puzzles, multis, and an AdLab.A lovely morning for a walk around the grounds.Strolled up industry lane and collected my clues.I expected the second clue to be on a different wall, so it took a bit longer.Nice hide at GZ.Thanks, Robmc.
Ive been a bit quiet with caching lately because we are in the process of selling our home and my MILs house. They are both on the market now and given that Im not a footy fan I took the opportunity to have some me time and collect these Pentridge caches. I scratched my head a few times trying to locate A. Silly me stepped right over it. At GZ it didnt take too long to find the heavily camouflaged container. Thank you GJMMelb for placing and maintaining HMPP - Pentridge Industry and Education for us to find today.
*Found on the 17 Aug 2024 @ 2:47PM.**Cache find # 15741.* It certainly turned out to be a nice day for a stroll around Pentridge, checking out this and that while collecting clues and numbers for the multis, puzzles and AdLab in the end I had all my GZs, so off I went to find them all.As for the cache, my coordinates had me on the other side of the road and the hint puzzled me at first but it did put me in the right area.**Thanks to GJMMelb for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
Suscoe enjoyed a terrific time in the old Pentridge Prison area today. We were looking forward to this adventure as we have historical family connections to this place. We enjoyed the wandering and gathering of information and the caches.A brilliant day out enjoying caching. Thanks to GJMMelb for placing this cache.A favourite from us.
TFTC! 16 July 2024 6:18:00PM 8260 thanks to GJMMelb for the cache! Enjoyed the walk around this evening! A bit cold and wet, but calculated and made the find loved the camo!
Another interesting trip around the Pentridge site learning a bit of the local history while collecting the numbers. Thanks for the cache GJMMelb.
With Katlud and Connie&rick and micaparamedic. Thanks for your help comrades. And thanks to GMMelb for the cache
After doing some gardening at the monthly Coburg Lake Gardening CITO I had planned to come to Pentridge to find some caches. ConnieandRick and Thumpa67 also wanted to find the caches, and micaparamedic came with us. I had to lead the team, here, as the others had trouble with phones. We quickly found the required information and then it was a short walk in the sunshine to find the log.Thank you GJMMelb for this interesting cache.
Out with micaparamedic, Cathlud and Thumpa67 after today's event. It was a quick multi and find and the sunshine and chat was great. I had to have help with this one as my phone just wouldn't open the page until about 15 minutes later. Strange as the Ad Labs were working. The same happened to Thumpa67 too, even though we were on different phone providers.
Oh my gosh this was so much fun, Ive only ever done Caches where you go to the location and it was there, so to figure out the coordinates really stumped me but after finally figuring it all out was an easy enough find!
Out and about with echidna44 for an enjoyable day of caching. Starting off with catching up fellow cachers for breakfast at the jail we hung around to check out some in the area. Just loved walking round and round the site seeing how this area has been transformed. We had trouble with one of the clues needed but we managed to achieve the end result. Thanks GJMMelb for the caches and challenges here we had a great day.
After the June Breakfast, I went caching around Pentridge with xambo4u. We enjoyed our walk around to collect the answers, then found the beautifullly camouflaged cache. Thanks GJMMelb.
Nice, easy and well-camoed find. All in good condition. TFTC and the history lesson
The changes that the prison system made seemed a lot better for the prisoners. Mental health would have been at an all time low before they had the factories to work in....I'm sure it was still miserable and hard work but better than sitting in your cell all day I hope. Thanks for the history lesson and your excellent cache hide.
After being away for a bit it is now back to suburban or rural caches after work to try and beat my last streak of 67.It is just a personal challenge that Im working on and Im going to try and make it to 150.So it is now decision time to either take a small detour on the way home or a larger detour on the way home to find a cache to keep this going. So todays detour was to Coburg again as I had an appointment which was very close by and after that it was back to Pentridge Prison or what is left of it.I remember coming here when it was still a prison and seeing a couple of the shows put on by the Pentridge Players.I also remember doing a couple of tours of the place not long after it closed and it was great to come back and have a look to see all of the re development.A walk up Industrial avenue and I eventually found out what was required after initially not reading the cache page correctly and messing up a bit.Did some maths and worked out where GZ was going to be.I soon found a well constructed cache.I added my name to the log and I was on my way back home.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks GJMMelb TFTC.
I found this cache today on my Mega Walk #18 - a 22,000 step walk firstly around Coburg, then from Fawkner and onto Brunswick. In company of Tiz13, micaparamedic and BlackOpal2005 after the event, in amongst all the other balls that we had in the air, we worked this one out and and soon had the nicely constructed cache in hand. A nice cache hide. Thanks from D B-A
I teamed up with BernieH as we explored the area and collected all the clues and waypoints for these new caches. I was very thankful for all the new local hides so I am savoring them one by one. This was the chosen find for today (mainly because it was the first solved). A great area to explore and learn more about as we gathered the answers we needed. With everything looking good it didnt take us too long to find the cache and sign the log book.I continued on with Bernie to complete the investigations for the others, but stored all the information away so I could return on another day to find and sign the log for the remaining caches.A big thanks goes to GJMMelb for taking the time to add HMPP - Pentridge Industry and Education to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------The nominees for the [**2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/2023-victorian-cache-of-the-year-awards/) have been announced. After the CITO at Coburg Lake this morning, everyone broke off in groups and went their own way. I headed off with Tiz13, BlackOpal2005 and Rabbitto. While cutting laps of Pentridge, it became obvious that everyone had the same idea, just the order was different. We kept bumping into various groups. Friendly banter within our group and between groups added to the enjoyment we were receiving doing the new caches around this significant historic structure.During my working life, I was rostered on a MICA Unit nearby and had at least one visit to the hospital wing. Thanks GJMMelb for placing this Multi-cache, enhancing the game board and adding to our enjoyment.
Find number 13349 at 11:48:14AM on Wednesday the 1 May 2024Come over to this part of town today to attend the breakfast event and then mosey over to the CITO across the road to help tidy up around the lake Found with RoamingHowie, all the clues found reasonably quickly, solved the GZ and headed of to find our prize **Thanks for placing this cache GJMMelb**---The nominees for the [**2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards**](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/2023-victorian-cache-of-the-year-awards) have now been announced.Find as many of these amazing caches as you can before voting opens later in the year. The full list of nominations is available on the [Geocaching Victoria website](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/2023-victorian-cache-of-the-year-awards)
Needing some exercise and having missed today's event and city and fitfully working on a challenge, I decided to start at Fleming Park, walk along the Merri up to Pentridge and have a go at the newly created series centred on the site. I didn't quite realise that the whole trip including caches would result in roughly 19.5km of walking but I can tell you I felt it on the way back to the car as I navigated the service-laden Sydney Rd. footpath.Seeing as how this is the portion of the log which will serve as a common bit of text to all my logs of the day I want to take this opportunity to have a bit of a rave about the Pentridge series. I can see it wasn't appropriate to nominate for the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards but I'll be certainly nominating the series as best-in-class for the 2024 awards. This is **exactly** what geocaches are at their best: cheeky & brilliant camo, well chosen spots for hides that don't have high levels of muggle traffic, meticulously researched cache text that informs a cacher about what they are seeing as they navigate the site, accurate sets of coords and finally coverage of the bulk of a fairly large area. Well done GJMMelb a real tour de force and many thanks for a very enjoyable afternoon. My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. ---This was the second cache I found after arriving on site and was worked on in conjunction with H.M. Prison Pentridge multi. Brilliant bit of camo that was immediately sussed out after having found Separate and Silent. I like the camo so much that I think it is worth a FP.
It appeared that most of the cachers from the CITo today had the same plan. So off we headed in our various groups to find this new series. Tiz13 teamed up with micaparamedic, BlackOpal2005 and Rabbitto. What an awesome series we all enjoyed ourselves as we cut laps of the prison. I recall driving past this place so many times back in the 80's before it became a housing estate of a different kind. This was our first cache we stopped to grab in between working on the others. What an awesome Camo Tiz13 favourite point worthy.
I was a lovely Sunday afternoon, and Pentridge is not far too from home, so we decided to attack this new series of caches which had popped up. This was a nice quick multi, and we had the coordinates sorted out in no time. At GZ the cleverly constructed cache was just waiting for us to sign it.
Forgot to take a record of the clues, so had to come back and check if there were any. Nice camo.
OHC and I had plans to start this mini series during the week but my situation changed and that put a stop to that. As it turned out, it was for the best as we managed to complete all the caches in the series today, not just start it.We had a great time walking around this location and I would love to go back and spend some more time and possibly do a tour. This was a great little stroll along a section of Pentridge that is a little hidden from the rest. We only noticed a few people and even those appeared to have business here. Great final container. Thanks for a couple of hours of fun with the placing of these caches.
Teamed up with Geoturtle37 to check out the new Pentridge caches. Such interesting history in an area I never knew existed. Another fav point here for the container. Clue noted. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, GJMMelb ~~
Out and about with My good caching mate Omegaman1971, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles. This is one of the caches found today. I spent some time searching the object mentioned in the hint, thankfully omegaman found it close by.Thanks GJMMelb for the cache.
Out once again with Rebel Acts putting some smiles on the map, always great to be on the geo hunt. This is one of the caches we successfully found today, Cheers for the cache.
Swung by the Pentridge area on the way home from work to hopefully grab a cache for the day. Upon arriving at the initial waypoint all the required information was easily gathered and the final calculated. The cache was spotted on approach to GZ. Clues photographed. Thanks for the local history lesson!
I cache with a phone whose battery life was sold to me as refreshingly nonlinear. And experience soon taught me what that means - 42%, 41%, 40%, 9%, dead. So refreshing. And so it was that I got to Industry Lane on 46%, gathered the numbers, went to GZ and signed on 40%, took a photo and it died. The final will have to wait until another day. Thanks GJMMelb for this excellent series and the clever camo here.
