Logs
Keep on swimming keep on swimming.....Signed with catnap777 @ 2:50pm in 40+ heat. My wife's log tells a rather detailed account of our aquatic adventure, but cat' forgot to mention one slight detail, and that is that we both qualify to log this awesome challenge. I find it fascinating to note how closely our stats compare to each others considering I started caching in 2014, cat' in 2019 and we met and signed our first cache together in 2021. Our individual qualifying stats from Project-GC are listed below.daleriousI have filled 257 DT cells among all DT grids. TFTChallenge Sims_family.
23 November 2024 14:44 dalerious and I were in Geelong again as we put our names down to attend a Friday night swim with the hamfish, and a CITO and Beach Patrol get together with wespro on the Saturday. As usual, we had a jam packed 2 days booked and catered for. What we were not wanting was the oppressive heat on both days; but we got that in spades. Funny enough, by the time the evening swim event rolled around, it had turned quite chilly and breezy which made it a very cool dip.Anyway, we put up with the heat and cold and heat and had a ball with the caches we chose to do on the Friday. Saturday rolled around, and we were still awake from Friday for the most part of Saturday morning. Events still attended and again the temperature just kept climbing......but I am getting ahead of myself. It was during Friday afternoon whilst relaxing in our motel room after caching all morning in the heat we noticed an email from BCF. They were having one of those Black Friday sales, and we noticed they had a 50% off on their inflatable kayaks. Hhmmmm, we thought. We really want to sign that DTT Challenge cache, but we didn't want to lug our 2 non-inflatable kayaks here from Tatura for one cache.Well, we hopped in the car, and off to BCF we went.Roll on Saturday on our way home. You have to check out my image as proof of how bloody hot it was.Needless to say, we walked down to the waters edge and evaluated the situation. The wind was howling which accentuated the heat factor. Bugger blowing up the kayak and having either a coronary or a stroke, we are going to swim it.I have always been a strong swimmer and can tread water for hours, but my darling husband is like a teabag; one dunk and he's done. So he donned on a lifejacket and he had the ingenious idea of getting one of our dry bags, filling with air, and using it as a single sausage floatation device. We had to walk in a bit of the way because tide was out, but as soon as we could we swam. The wind was behind us on the way to the cache. Signing duties complete, we turned around and headed home. No, I was stationary. The wind was howling and I wasn't getting anywhere. Lucky, dalerious was wearing a pair of flippers, and I just latched onto him, and he using his legs and me using my arms, and our flotation device keeping us above water, we got to shore.dalerious took off his flippers walking back to the shoreline and stepped on a buried urchin, so the poor bugger had urchin barbs in his foot, which I dealt with when we got home.We just got to shore, and like Murphy's Law the wind instantly stopped. We were cool, but very sticky and when we got to the car, a quick dousing of cold water and prop change and we were soon in the air-conditioning on our way home, congratulating each other for a very successful weekend. Thank you Sims_family for an awesome Challenge cache which was found in good condition. Favourite point given.
Very tired but happy..This cache has been on my wish list ever since it came out..after an epic day on the water with over 6km kayaked we had enough energy for 1 more...thankfully walking the kayaks part of the way was easier on the arms than rowing...we were both sore but proud of our days achievements we had one more cache to go...after circling GZ once and pondering its use apart from as a bird pooing station..hamfish made the find....Happy dance for Tiz13 this cache marks her 12th loop...Qualifying stat's attached...thanks for the adventure...Tiz13](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Tiz13) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GCAKX5W/85913 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.I have filled 278 DT cells among all DT grids. This was a delightful morning paddle with the CO. An invitation to accompany the CO was accepted and we headed out to this cache in stunning weather for a paddle. The water was calm and the wind was almost non existent. The cache container was found in the water but the log was completely dry. A wonderful choice of container by the Sims_family. If only our cache containers could keep the rain out so perfectly well. Anyway, the log was signed and the CO then spent a short time doing some cache maintenance. A huge thank you to the Sims_family for this opportunity, we appreciated it very much.A favourite from us. I am happy to have qualified for this. We had the kayak on board for a CITO so we swung by here and dropped the kayak in for a paddle. Lots of seagulls must frequent the spot but we located the cache and signed the log.Found with feathertop. Great challenge. Thanks for placing the cache Sims_family. A number of factors have seen me away from the game. I've done a few caches over the past few years, virtuals as we travel around, a trip to Laos & Thailand with my brother saw me grab a few and a few others while on holidays. It's been a somewhat nice break way from the game. But a few weeks ago my geo buddie in DAB was asking a few questions about mystery caches he's been looking at and it got me working on a few again. As well as a suggestion of going to a kayak for this challenge cache, it set the wheels in motion. It was nice to be on the water again and with good company. We took our time in an area that I've been before. The cache was found after a short search and it was nice to be writing my name in another logbook, a couple in the past few days. I'M BACK Thanks for this cache placement
When the publication came out, it was a sunny, calm afternoon as I checked to see if I qualified. However, by the time I had gotten ready and made it down to the beach, the sun had set, and a strong southeasterly wind was blowing. I jumped in the yak and slowly made my way across, trying not to get turned by the waves and wind. Once at the geocache location, a quick search revealed the great hide, with a blank log for [FTF].Log signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the challenge cache The_SimsFamily 8,024
