This is a very pretty walk and I don't recall coming here before, lovely light coming through the trees and although there were a few items resembling the hints, we soon spotted what we were searching for. TFTC
I was planning a 16km long run today as part of my training plan for a trail half marathon I was doing in less than two weeks in Rotorua. With a busy weekend, I was grateful for the public holiday. What better motivation to go that long distance and keep it pretty chill than to include geocaching along the way? I plotted out a route to try and incorporate as many unfound caches as possible along the loop, starting and finishing at Corban Estate.Just as I parked, the rain started. It was tempting to give in and go home, but alas I came prepared with a new lightweight raincoat I'd bought a few weeks earlier as compulsory gear for the Taupo Ultramarathon, but didn't need to use. So this was a good time to test it out, along with my new running vest before the big race. The raincoat got a lot of testing with some heavy rain later in the run! I happened to plot my route to go past my sister's house, and managed to convince my niece to come join me for the last 3km back to the car (she probably regretted her decision as the rain started again) and then I drove her back home. Somehow missed the obvious log and focused on one area before realising that I had misread the hint and once in the right spot a quick find was made.
Nice to walk along here again.Tried a few possibilities before seeing one of the hint items. Thanks
Such a beautiful and tranquil spot here listening to the bird song is always good for the soul. After taking some time to enjoy this spot, JAG made a quick find here of another well camouflaged cache. Loving your containers SN
A maintenance team was suiting up in the car park as I passed so was pleased for a relatively quick find. There were several possibilities but once I spotted it, I knew I was right. TFTC.
This cache was a great excuse to revisit this sweet dog walking trail on a quiet drizzly autumn Sunday morning. Tftc Supernanny.
A solo excursion for Mr CobletI logged a DNF a few weeks ago on the previous cache hidden nearby so was pleased see a new cache had been placed and that the previous one had been missing and it hadn't just been my geosenses playing up.I had the day off work so decided to head out to try and gain a smiley but I was a bit over eager and left home too early so it was still quite dark when I arrived, made worse by it being a cloudy day. Oh well, I like a challenge, so I headed to GZ, where I found it was even darker with all the thick tree cover.I surveyed the area and through the gloomy haze spotted a few possible items that matched the hint but then saw a very distinctive one which I knew must be it. Further investigation confirmed my suspicions were correct. Thanks Supernanny for replacing the cache and bringing me back here, I love this spot and will always have fond memories of your other cache "Perambulating & Pottering In The Pines" nearby. Now that I'm already out here I had better go and look for a few more.TFTC
I wasn't going to come out to this cache seeing it was raining not heavily but more than I was comfortable with taking the e-bike out for a ride. So left it. But I checked the weather a while later, and even though it was gloom, it was barely raining, so I felt like getting a little bit wet, always fun. So off I went. Initially riding along Sturges Rd, my glasses were wet as, got out the phone to check my directions, oh... I see I have a way to go, funny, I don't remember that road. Turns out after a few minutes and not reaching the correct road, I realised I had the phone upside down, and going in the wrong direction...lol. Anyway, backtracked somewhat and the rain got a little heavier, never mind. Got to the part of the bush closest to GZ and parked up. Took me a while to spot the hint items, the phone bounced around a bit, then I checked a leafy sort of thing, one side - no cache, but the other side - YES! Right by the 2 small trees. I didn't think I was beaten here today and sure enough, I see a blank log, nice one! That's {FTF} for me today. Thanks supernanny for the hide, I like this bush and have been here a few times now for other caches. FTF#849
