A nice day of caching in the city. Good to have a weekday off!! Weather is certainly working with me.TFTC Wilbert67
Ahhhh here we go again. a repeat of your mystery cache Triangular, but this one is slightly easier. But still not easy enough I visited with Muppet95 today, feeling pretty confident about this T4 cache. Its not often a tree climb that isnt rated at T5 can beat me.. Unless its hidden by GHHH apparently! I spent about 20-30 minutes attempting to get this cache. We could see it, and I could get within a couple metres of it, but that final section out on the limb was too hairy for me. Not comfortable without any safety gear unfortunately! The lack of something to hold onto with my hands is my biggest fear. I need some sort of safety net if I make a wrong move, but these climbs dont offer that. Thanks anyway, youve beaten me once more! Honestly quite shocked at how many geocachers have been successful with this climb, maybe Im not the experienced tree climber I thought I was! Oh well, possibly one day, but Im not sure when or how.
Found a large collection of caches during this overdue trip into the city.Visited GZ. Climbed the tree. Spotted the cache. Didn't feel comfortable making it out beyond the fork.Next time perhaps...
In the city for an event and some geofinds celebrating World Postcard Day with Graubunden. Solved the coordinates two months ago. This is our 2nd visit together. Then in July I aborted my climb as it was getting dark and I was a bit tired. Today I came refreshed and found the hide in good climb. My find count 2272. Thanks Googlehihihi for a fun climb, with yet another FP your way
Our day outing in city today. My geocaching partner climbed up to tree and signed for us both. TFTC
Made the climb before spotting the cache. Found it in short notice. I don't want to do that again. Thanks for the challenge.
Ive only found 16 caches with a D1/T4 combo, so this was high on my target list for a visit to Sydney. Arrived at GZ and slowly made my way up the tree. Tree climbs like this make me nervous as there aren't many branches to hold onto if I stared to slip. Got to the cache, signed the log and very carefully made my way back down. Terrain points earned here in a lovely location..
Peculiar combo of multi, puzzle and tree climb. A lot of fun though! Had some trouble locating the cache but eventually dared to walk the plank a little further and yes, there it was, tftc! Love trehe trees btw, we don't have them in NZ (or NL). Fp in!
In the city visiting family and as we were nearby we diverted over to GZ. Second attempt at this one with our first attempt aborted due to rain and a wet and dangerous climb. This afternoon quickly making our way and slothed the last little bit in order to reach the prize. Signed in situ and after signing the log replaced as found. Thanks for the cache Googlehihihi. The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football, Berliner Schnauze mit Herz ??, Oberpflzer Globetrotter, MELINDA ALIVENTI, Capital GeoBash 2024 - Canberra Australia, Sam the Clam, An Unexpected Journey, Wonders of the World Tag- Red, Dwa Misie Chameleon Volunteer Tag, Des Alten Schweden altes GPS (S), Entendame Schnatti 6 Geocoin, Emeritus-BALKAN TOUR, Grandads Padlock, Heartbeat (NYPL)
We were not going to do this cache, but I wanted to check it out anyway. Wpt 1 was found easily enough, and the info added to the checker gave us GZ. Nice spot, quite secluded on this Sat. Afternoon. Probably not so tomorrow when the C2S starts. We couldn't spy the cache initially, from the heavens or the ground. I stepped further afield and, with a wider radius, managed to spot it while wazza9 was up the tree, making his way down. He wasn't keen to go back, without knowing where to look or what it was he was looking for. I shimmied up the trunk and perched myself in a fork, like a koala. I regained sight of the cache and, like a sloth on a limb, made my way to GZ. At full stretch in sloth mode, I extracted the log to add our mark.A sloth moving backwards is quite a sight, especially whilst cursing the CO for placing such caches in locations like these. Finally, back on Terra firma, I was pleased with myself that the challenge was complete. However, some safety gear is highly recommended, and the cache could easily be reached with a TOTT.
Where do I start. In the city to get specific caches to help with my personal challenge.Got the required information and made our way to GZ. I went halfway and still couldn't see anything and gave gave up. As I was making my way down, tronador saw it and decided to give it a go. I watched tronador make her way to the cache and sign the log for all. I will return when my knee is improved or I am able to find an alternative method and change this note to a found.Visited trackables.
Calculated GZ, after looking and looking Wazza9 attempted, then tronador had spotted the cache and we all helped her up, waiting if anything happened while she retrieved it and signed our names. Thanks for the adventure.
What an adventure, i usually climb rocks these days and its been a while since i have climbed a tree. To be honest i wasnt expecting it to be such an adventurous climb. Once i located the right branch to shimmy along i arrived at the container, after difficulties getting a piece of paper out, i managed to log this accent- i mean cache
We're back down in Sydney today for some more climbing caches. This time in and around the city. We eventually claimed a car park some 600m away but when we arrived at GZ there was actually one right adjacent the cache ugh. But the walk over was nice actually - it was my first time at the Domain since I played a rather large gig here at an Australian pre-Olympics music showcase in 2000. We played before Icehouse and after Yothu Yindi. Crikey that was a lifetime ago. TFTC, Googlehihihi.#2005
WP1 was quickly unraveled and a short walk took us to the likely tree. We couldn't see anything from below so I headed up and soon had it spotted. Log was removed and brought down for signing duties and then back up to replace. I do enjoy a tree climb. Thanks for the cache!!
A series of prior decisions and choices led me to find myself right smack in the middle of Sydneys CBD accompanied by the local tourist guide GHHH!Then a lovely stroll was conducted, only haltered slightly by the early hour meaning some of the attractions were shut!Ah well, such is life. Some interesting caching conducted round here, with plenty of discussion about the newest stuff on the block. This included:Caches, caches, cachesGalvanised Square SteelPuzzle talkRNGBattle CatsDashThis list is not comprehensive, at all. After two DNFs it was nice to grab this one!Quickly solved the multi once I stopped being blind, and soon found ourselves in proximity that would make Canberra proud.Cache soon located due to some useful instructions and the spoiler photo, and really? Out there? Sheesh!Utilised the handy bouldering skills to get up into the tree (fig trees are fun like that!) before branching out to the cache!Hmmm, got to a point and wondered how to pull off the final steps to the cache. Then the solution presented itself, a little dodgy and certainly precarious, but I was secure!Log signed and cache returned after fiddling with the lid quite a bit.Do all the tree climbing in reverse and were golden! Nice! Thanks Googlehihihi for placing this treemendous cache!
Find#2356Enjoying the second week of the school holidays with a few days in Sydney down from the Hunter valley. A nice easy find and off to GZ. I love a good tree climb and this is no exception. Free climbed to where I thought I might be. Found it. A huge rush and my first urban climb. A favourite point from me. Cache and log in good condition TFTC
Took a while to spot this one from the ground, but once We had, Mrs Browngang said "lucky we've got the Browngang climbing tool" meaning me, so after plotting my ascent, reached the cache and "oh no", I couldn't get the log out with one hand. So resting on one elbow, managed to get the log out and signed all good. Now, how did I get up here again?Man, I'm not as young as I feel anymore. Anyway, thanks for the cache and cheers from Browngang Fav point given
Not a did not find, because we saw exactly where it was. Will have to rent a hover board next time I'm in town.Or grow wings.
Yesterday Laura and I flew from Melbourne and arrived incredibly smoothly to Sydney, our first time in the big city. We slept well and long, and woke up with a needing desire to explore the city. We had just this one full day to explore the city before we head out tomorrow, so we knew we had to make it count. After leaving our hotel, we headed north into Australias oldest public park: Hyde Park. While walking through the park, I noticed this offset cache which quickly put a grin on my face. **I love tree climbing caches**! Freehand climbing is one of my favorite pastimes which geocaching reintroduced me to, and this is one in Sydney to visit! We got to the fountain and I immediately found the clue and plotted the FC on the map. We headed to the tree, and after narrowing down the right one, we both scouted out the branches. Nothing visible from the ground. But up I leaped, quickly getting up and keeping an eye on the creepy crawlers which were all around. Thought something felt a little suspicious right from the start. A relatively newly published stash, one DNF, an FTF, then 5 of the seven finds in one day, and then one more find two weeks ago. Nothing since. When I was up in the tree, I would easily consider this a T4, but as I looked around I soon spotted the same view as from the spoiler. I knew where I should have headed, but from every T4 spot I could have looked, all of them were empty. No container to see anywhere around. I didnt want to make this a T4.5 or T5, since I didnt want to visit the ER on our only day in Sydney, but after about 15 minuted up in the tree I gave up as it didnt seem plausible that the consenter was still in the nooks and crannies of this *beautiful* tree. I gave up our search at 10:45 am, and hopped back down. Thanks nonetheless Googlehihihi for brining us here; we were glad to visit while down under in Australia for our spring break, visiting from slightly-distant Myanmar! For my own personal statistics; this is the thirty-fifth of 112 geocaches we visited down under while on spring break, excluding the 56 adventure lab caches we visited and 28 Waymarks visited. It was quite a long and exciting day for us, as we walked 21.17km throughout the city while visiting twenty-five stashes just this one day.
Necessary info was quickly found but to locate the cache needed a little more effort. Luckily the picture helped to get to correct spot. Nice one, a favo for urban treeclimbing!
#5960After attending the nearby event where I met lots of international geocachers, a group headed to this one, having previously worked out where GZ was located.Big congratulations to gatraveler for their 12,000th find. A milestone indeed!!Thanks GHHH for the geofun. ??
I went to the Event in Hyde Park Nth, and a few Attendees were looking on the map for nearby caches to find. Frazer's Tree Climb was the closest. A handful of us made our way to the Domain to climb a less common fig tree, ficus virens, to find this well camoed cache. As I put my first foot upon the tree another geocacher, Gordo the Geo, was up it in a flash. Wow! Well done! All signed in, group photo taken, chat continued. I enjoyed this 'after Event' Event. TFTC GHHH
After the nearby event several ca hers drafted Dan to do the heavy lift on this one. Thank goodness that he has much younger legs than we. He was able to almost run right up the tree as the rest of us cheered him on the directed him bravely from the ground. Since this was our 12,000th cache we came prepared and we all enjoyed the photo moment. So glad to meet cachers from down under. TFTH
I had this one calculated not long after publishing. At the nearby event, Calypso62 and I hatched a plan to claim the find. GAttaveller, Shrek and EverestHigh joined us on cessation of the event. At GZ, most of the participants spotted the cache except me the climber. I was a little unsure of being a bit exposed out on the limb but it turned out rather well. I was guided to the cache from below. Once I had the lid off, the most difficult task was extracting the log out the narrow opening of the cache container.Once back on deck, GAtraveller shared with us that was their 12,000th find. Definitely a memorable occasion!Favourite point added for the climb and unique DT combination In Sydney for a few days before heading to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. Today was all about catching public transport to pick up new LGAs.Googlehihihi, I found Frazer climbs a tree today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Headed here with GAtravellers, Morgo the Geo, Calypso62 and EverestHigh after the nearby event in Hyde Park. The hide was spotted from the ground pretty quickly and we then guided Morgo, who was quick off the mark to make the ascent, to the right spot. Once logging was completed (our initials were used to save space) and all of us were back on the ground, GAtravellers revealed that this was their 12,000th find ... so a photo was taken to record this milestone find for posterity ... congrats Karen & Mike! Thanks for the hide Googlehihihi and for telling us Fraser's story.
We have made it to Sydney, our first day here caching on foot from our hotel. The GPS was off, couldn't determine which place was GZ. Tried one pretty thoroughly, no cache.
Came to WP1 after work. No chance of doing any tree climbing in my work suit and leather shoes though!
{FTF} at 16:39. As usual Im never dressed appropriately for these things. I spied this at publication, and made a quick solve from afar. Interesting, but in the heart of the city this would surely get swooped up, that night even?Days later and still no finds, I decided a possible hunt was in order. I had already planned on hiding my own cache this afternoon, but opted to find this instead due to limited time. Jumped on the right train and got within proximity, and then made a roundabout walk to Gz. I quickly found the tree, but locating the cache, even with the spoiler made very difficult. The camo tape on the cache doesnt help!! Now I was in an outfit I didnt want to get dirty, so halfway up the tree I deposited the bag, the shoes and did a BFJ. There was a lot of shimmying involved, but I shortly got to the location. Retrieving the log was more difficult, but got there eventually to log FTF. nice. Dropped a ring, and made the much more difficult (and scary) downwards shimmy. Got to the bottom, and its just another day. TFTC GHHH. UTC Sydney? FP
