quick eyes did the trick, certainly I wouldnt have wanted to work in these conditions. TFTC
Found with icw at this commemoration of an industrial disaster. I hope that mining conditions and safety are better today. Tftc.
We have driven past here a lot and always meant to stop to look at the mine shaft and information. Today in the blustery wind and intermittent pouring rain, we finally got around to it and with the bonus of the geocache. Fascinating and sad history of this area. Thanks for prompting is to stop. TFTC.
With 2 FTFs on offer, I selected the Wonthaggi, Inverloch, and Cape Paterson areas to go geocaching. Obviously, I went for the 2 FTFs first and got 1 of them. Then, I just selected geocaches that caught my attention. 16 finds, and only 1 DNF is not too bad when I wasn't rushing around, and often parked further away than necessary so that I could enjoy a walk on this lovely day.I drove past this shaft first thing this morning, remembering a previous spot where I found a geocache here. I was stunned when heading home to see a geocache on my map here. At least it is turned into a Yellow Smiley now. Thanks for the cache, Dotty Doo 2024.Hunter
Tftc DottyDoo2024.On a weekend Engineers trip in the area and we had an hour to spend for lunch in San Remo. Grabbed 2 of 4 caches there, then on to Kilcunda bridge where I nabbed another one. We drove eastwards to this memorial where we had a history talk. Then sat down and found this one pretty quickly. Took me longer to roll up the log than to find it.
A lovely day to get out and about. Started with closest to home for the adventure lab driving journey then headed to Phillip Island to clear some more down there. Thanks for placing this cache DottyDoo2024, my last for the day. Like others have said, had found a previous cache here but a worthwhile place to highlight. Love that memorial has been upgraded since I was last here. Regardskbucky
This is the fourth time I have been here to find a cache over My twenty years of caching. Thanks DottyDoo2024 for the cache.
Omegaman1971Support Your Local Villain Live - Laugh - Lurk First To Find: 155Sidetracked Cache Finds: 121In the area for work, but had sometime before for just a few caches, always love caching down this part of the state. This is one of the caches I found today, Cheers for the cache.
Thanks for the find, a great little cache and a chance for our kids to learn some of the towns history. Plus, the hill was freshly mowed and they got to roll down it!
Wow what an interesting piece of local history, geez not one disaster but two, those poor miners. Youd think after one disaster they would have closed the shaft. Thanks for bringing us here, great local history, Thanks for the cache RedNotes, those darn little rolled logs took a bit to put back haha.
Nice and quick grab after some hot cross buns and coffee for breakfast Happy Easter!!
Yeah, I spotted this one while camping down at Cape Patterson for our annual Easter. Decided to do this one before doing opshopping in Wonthaggi. I had been to this area before, now this is a different one. Nice easy find. Thanks for putting it here. My FTF in ages.
30 March 2024 12:15 pm - 1st Find for the day. Find no. 1077. Damn .. missed out of ftf location on log!! I blame all the easter traffic in the town for making it hard to get through to location. With non-geo son and 2 grand daughters Thanks for the cache.
