This cache:Despite the fact that I did not need this one for a challenge requirement and the fact I was running out of time, I spent quite a lot of time trying to locate this one. Plenty of options for the hint. Well overgrown at places. Not so fun to search here unfortunately. Eventually abandoned, covered in scratches.Today:I was on a mission today! Actually, I was supposed to be here yesterday but my flight got cancelled. And a Coldplay concert in Auckland meant there was no other option until 24h later. Anyway, I digress. Suffice to say I was very motivated to make this work SmileMy mission was to find and qualify for at least 6 challenge caches, in just a few hours of caching in the Shire! Why you ask? Because I need at least 10 challenge caches to qualify for a meta challenge cache in Nelson Smile. I did not think I would be able to do so any time soon, cause I'm not great with challenge caches and there aren't many around in Nelson. Until I saw there is a whole challenge cache power trail in the area where I planned to go caching during my Sydney trip! How great is that?! So I did my homework and figured out which challenges I could qualify for in just a few hours of geocaching, plus find those challenge caches themselves of course. It was a bit of a puzzle with multiple train rides and a lot of running at tge end but I think I (just) succeeded! Still have to go through the checkers after writing these logs. I'm sure about 5 challenges and my manual counting ended up at 31 out of the required 30 different attributes for the 6th! Let's hope the checker agrees Very HappyBig thanks to all COs for a pleasant Shire caching experience and a special thanks to wazza9 for the challenge power trail that got me inspired to go on a crazy hunt today!

Found on the day geocaching in the ShireTook me 55 minutes to Solved it phone said about 5 minutes away from gz

23-Oct-24
Took me a little while to spot this one. I wasn't so much worried about the lantana, but I thought i spotted a ruse tree...which I have had some history with, so I was very careful. All good though. TFTC

20-Oct-24
Took us a little bit but found it in the end. TFTC!

A few days in Sydney and the surrounding area. Today we are visiting Cronulla after we spent a bit of time in the city centre and had a coffee, we rode our bikes along the railway. All the containers were easy to find. So we can sign them all. Many thanks to the owner and greetings from the Moorhelmi

Lucky it was shaddy, but a cricket match was on however the spectators were looking the other way. Bring some pruners for a little judious trimming of the sharpies. Thanks for the cache.

Find# 11531Nice easy find.Fortunately, we didn't have to engage with the lantana here.Cache is in great condition. TFTC sutherlandgeocaching 9 July 2024

After arriving at GZ and taking a brief look around, I decided to brave the lantana to get a better angle on a likely hide location. Luckily with some acrobatics I managed to avoid touching any of the lantana and saw the cache in the expected location. The container still looked nice and new and was nicely tucked away. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache!

That took quite a while to find, but I eventually got there. TFTC

25-Jun-24
Starting searching, then the school kids arrived. I decided to abort the mission.

After a dawn event to watch the sun come up after the winter solstice this morning, I headed over this way to find a few more caches today. A lovely way to spend the morning of what has turned out to be a beautiful day. It took me longer to find this one than it should have since I was chatting on the phone while searching but I eventually located it a few meters away from the initial area I'd investigated. Thanks for find #6246TNLN

A Sutherland Shire caching day was planned with decent weather and a spring in our steps. After tyding up a multi from last week it was off to learn the history of the various suburbs. Again we arrived at GZ and remembered being here for a cache a few years back. With the lawn being mowed behind us we started the search in the "cached" area and then moved left and right to eventually find the sneaky hide. TFTC!

On a cool overcast day, morty8888 and I set off for a days caching around the Sutherland Shire. On the menu we're four Jigsaw puzzles which had been solved earlier at home, three traditionals and a previously solved multi. After parking the car and walking down to gz it wasn't until we read the previous logs we got a feel for what we were looking for and where to conduct our search. Thanks for the interesting history surrounding Cronulla and thanks for placing this cache.

Cronulla history - well we used to come here to the beach by train when I was a kid. That's back in the realms of history now. The scene in the jigsaw wasn't here in those days. I arrived at a location I've been to before for a cache which wasn't there and was later archived.Today there was school sport on the oval but I ignored them and hoped they ignored me. I know some of them were looking my way as I heard the teacher yell out to 'stop watching dodgy characters over there'. I wouldn't have described myself as dodgy, well not completely.I tried one area where there seemed to have been geo activity but found nothing so relocated to a second spot. From the right angle I spotted the cache. Signed the log and replaced quickly and noticed the students all being ushered on to a bus.TFTC # 6088

02-Jun-24
A quick find with GeoLorikeet after we were given a hint at the nearby event. TFTC

02-Jun-24
Found It!Solved this one yesterday without any problems then visited the final location today after the nearby event. It took a bit of searching but eventually I got myself in the right spot to see the cache!TFTC

Down in the Shire from Newcastle targeting this area. Love doing jigsaw puzzles but they are a bit harder on the phone as I don't have a computer. A quick find after the phone had settled down. TFTC Cache is in good order

25-May-24
A bit of a Kurnell run this afternoon for a few caches. Managed to right a previous DNF here this afternoon which was pleasing- and the nearby oval was quiet. TFTC!

26-Apr-24
Keep on Jigidi Jigging! Quick find at accurate coords. TFTC sutherlandgeocaching

21-Apr-24
Not sure if I got lucky with my coordinates but I was within 5 metres when I looked and made an instant find. Maybe the trees or the train line plays havoc sometimes. TFTC.

17-Apr-24
Should have researched this before I went- after driving all the way to Cronulla this morning I had a bit of a poke around but I really wasn't prepared for a long search here.

14-Apr-24
We solved this puzzle not long after it was published. Today we were out for a birthday lunch and parked nearby.Anticipated a bit of searching, however made a rather quick find after studying the area. TFTC sutherlandgeocaching.

Came back for round 3 to turn this frown upside down. Given the last couple of logs I decided to start my search a fair distance away from where the GPS had previously sent me, and this time was rewarded within 30 seconds. A nice sneaky hide hidden just the way I thought it wouldve originally been but just not where I thought it would originally be. Like previous finders really enjoying this series and looking forward to where the next ones will be!

03-Apr-24
Three visits, three DNFs. Apart from a black fence, there's nothing else magnetic within 20m of where the GPS took me. GeodogZelda tried to sniff it out, but nothing was obvious outside the wall of lantana. This looks like it's going to be my nemesis cache for now. I shall return, again!

03-Apr-24
Finally. Fourth attempt. This time, I brought out the big guns in Cryptic8 to help, along with GeodogZelda.I brought along a magnetic torch, which helped work out what is magnetic, and now I could try a few other options that I had dismissed before. I expanded my search a bit further this time, and although there isn't any dreaded lantana at GZ, there is enough vegetation to keep it well hidden. My GPS had me about 15m away from the solved coords. C8 says hers was about 7m. Maybe the trees were mucking me around. It's been a long time since a cache hide has given me so much trouble, so hopefully, this will be the last time. I wonder where the next History of .... will be? TFTC

03-Apr-24
Found it. Out with Brewmaker, who was on a mission. Geodog Zelda was just happy to sit around. Had to search amongst some greenery and we eventually had CIH. We can all relax now, he found it. TFTC

03-Apr-24
I had been here with Brewmaker 3 times already. This time we came with Mrs Brew (aka Cryptic8), as we thought a fresh pair of eyes would help. Well, it must have worked as within a few minutes Brew called out "Found it" while I was lazing around. All this caching stuff tires me out. We can all rest now, especially Brewmaker. I did get to explore around the park though. TFTC

[FTF]TFTC,I never thought I could get a FTF with the standard of the Hounds around here.Arrived home from the ACT MEGA at 3:30pm and unpacked. After enjoying a cold drink at 6:30pm, I thought it was time to see if I could get a FTF (a long time since I have been able to claim this title). At GZ I was confronted with a wall of Lantana. There was no way I was going into that given my past reactions and expanded my search area. First one way without any luck and then the other. Hmm, time to check the hint. After going to the back where I had no luck, I was returning to look elsewhere when I spotted a prize that The Bebbies would be proud of.A favourite just because I got in before others. Thanks to those contributing to this series of Historic Suburbs. Each one presents some interesting details, I might add to one.

01-Apr-24
Well, it must be April Fool's Day, as this hide has well and truly got me fooled. I shall return.

01-Apr-24
I'll have to add a DNF to the list. Too much lantana to make searching comfortable.

27-Mar-24
Decided to swing past here given the cache remained temptingly unfound, but perhaps due to the low light conditions despite going over all of the obvious areas with a fine tooth comb and a torch, could not locate this tricky one. Will leave it to others more experienced before attempting again!
