Found it! Loads of rubbish unfortunately. Lovely beach. Careful if with kids searching, rat trap right by it
found with flossieteacake. there was a muggle who was a bit confused with what we were up to but we managed to find it. TFTC
This cache was on our list for finding last week after we had been to Wenderholm, but I had a phone call from school and we had to abort our day of caching. Today we tried again, so after helping GeohoundandI to find the other "bison munting a fence" cache at the end of the beach, we walked back to here. There were a few vehicles parked up the beach with fishermen and their tackle out, and we hoped the coast would be clear here. Instead there was a car with the biggest, meanest, hungriest looking rotweiler sat in it. Most days I might have skipped it, but today I'm on a mission, so whilst GeohoundandI stood back out of the way I started to sneak in. Just as I spotted the fence and the cache, the dog's owner came back from the beach to get a table out of his car. Seriously, it was a table, so may be he was going to catch a lot of fish and feast on the beach! He warned me about people leaving deposits in the bush there. And wanted to know what I was doing. I think he thought I was writing my name on a post, but he left us alone after that.
We parked very close to this one, but there was a car parked very very close to gz. Fortunately for us they were packing up and leaving, so once the coast was clear we zoomed in for a quick find. TFTC
Out on a Caching day with Jag50. Chatted to some folk who were packing up their electric guitar and driving off, while Mrs Jag made a quick find in the bushes!
Well it's ANZAC Day today. Our little Maungatapere Community has been having a service run by the local primary school kids for 20 years now. It's at a reasonable time - you bring a plate to enjoy a cuppa and chat afterwards. We moved away for a few years so it was nice to attend today to commemorate the sacrifices made by our service personal. It was also a good chance to catch up with old friends. My daughter wasn't recognized as she was only 5 when we left the area. Now she's 17 and very tall. Anyway we then went home and watched a movie before I set off for Auckland for a few days geocaching. I'd done this area a while back but those bison obviously can't be controlled. Glad I found them securely attached today and managed to at least tag a few of them. Thanks for the cache
**20,758**Carrying on from the First to Find up the road, we were able to park quite closed to this cache, although another vehicle was parked closer. Mrs Geckoh acted as a distraction for those campers while Mr Geckoh moved in for the cache find. Once the formalities were completed Mr Geckoh gave the signal and we both returned to the van, with the muggles none the wiser TFTC
Another Sunday morning caching expedition with Team Welsh, this time around Silverdale, Orewa and Whangaparaoa. This was the furthest point north on our travels today and a good place to turn around. Soon spotted the munted fence and can confirm that a Bison seems to have been responsible. Thanks.
As always there were lots of overnight campers parked along this beach but KC and I managed to score a parking spot right next to GZ. Lovely surf here today and a few brave souls in the water. TFTC
Despite the stormy weather I decided to get out to do some geocaches that have recently opened. All good so quick find. Tftc
Another new cache in my hood and this one is less than 2km from home. After dropping a friend at an appt in town I zapped down here and parked up only 5m from the cache. It was rather busy this morning with lots of freedom campers parked nearby but luckily I could sneak in and grab the cache unseen and opened the log to find it blank for {FTF} one hour after it was published. Thanks for all these new caches to keep me busy!!
2TF, congrats Di!Bit of a stretch but got there, nice to see a start to another series maybe. Thanks!
