scramping & I along with puponyx and the nannies were on our way to Casterton for the afternoon to get our Ad Lab souvenir. We stopped along the way to attend to some cache maintenance but we had to get some smiles for ourselves. With some prior knowledge of how to get to this spot, it was easy getting there. OMG!!! what a fantastic old ruin. The moss covered walls and the lovely lilies growing around. It made for some great photographs. The cache itself was difficult to find due to the jumping around of the GPS & phones. Well I had a quick look where it was eventually found. I should have looked better.A favourite point for this fantastic location. Thanks for bringing us here, iml72
Found with hevwalker and puponyx and nicenannies. Wow this was a surprise beauty as we walked down the track. I took lots of photos as we walked around looking for GZ, our gps had us back and forth no where near where we eventually found the cache. Both hevwalker and I had checked it's hiding place but had come up empty, I decided put my gps away and that I would go back to the opposite side that our gps was telling us and just checked every hole and crack and possible hiding spot. The careful and slow exploration came up with the goods and the log was retrieved, signed and placed back. TFTC and a fav point for the beautiful spot.
What a great ruin couldnt believe they left this here pure solitude! Spoke to a couple of locals who said there are plenty of ruins throughout this forest. But being an owner of a Heritage property, very disappointed in the location of the cache as it will only lead to further destruction, so it was moved 1 metre into an area that should not have people pulling the building apart. The cache is within the building but no need for clambering, dislodging rocks or turning things over. Take care and enjoy this lovely place! Thanks iml72 for showcasing this area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
This one took us far too long. The coords had us both out in the open even check the base of a few trees. However as the info from the cache page said no climbing it had to be on the outside or inside. So thats where we concentrated. Surely not in there. No. Or there. No Its inside. Much like another Id found few years ago. Thats been moved. I could not replace the cache in the crack without the wall crumbling. So I placed it a few feet in a blue much warmer place where no damage will be possible. A safer spot. Fascinating structure. Lost heritage. Peter and Linda met us and know about the area. Dont bring a chainsaw!!Thanks iml72 and clear skies from TeamAstro. Took me a while to find this and that was after resorting to the phone for some hints from the CO. I did take note of the coordinates once I made the find as the tree cover seems to be hindering the gps. After several attempts to get the log sheet rolled small enough I resorted to using my log roller for the first time to get the log sheet to refit. As far as I know this ruin is the remains of a house once owned by a Brooksby family. What I did discover in my search is that there is no need to climb onto any of the walls and the stone is not very stable, quite likely to come away in your hand actually.
