I had a plan to come down from Auckland with supernannny to do the HRT trail from Te Aroha to Matamata. But she had offered to drive us everywhere in her hybrid car which is soo cheap to run and which was really nice of her. It was pouring with rain when she arrived to pick me up at 7am, did some caches along the way apart from the power trail, visited a friend in Hamilton for a much needed coffee, then home about 10pm. No problem with this hide too, thanks G. Sometimes the rain was so heavy we had to go and sit back in the car and sign the log there, not on this occasion though. One more cache for us today.
The plan was that the men would cycle from te aroha to matamata to try out the bikes for an upcoming trip and then cache on the way back to te aroha. Sad to say we had a later than expected start to the day so ran out of time for the return trip. We picked them up with the car here so only managed to find this one. We will be back.
Had been down in Opotiki recommissioning equipment. The line started up well with minimal issues. With everything going well I could head back to Auckland. Of course had to make a few stops on the way!I also wanted to complete this leg of the HRT series which I had started on my way down to Opotiki. There were a few caches before that but on the same road so it seemed rude not to attempt these as well.Quick find here and nice camo.TFTC
On a mish with the NZ Flossy. A great day for it A nice trail to get our heads back in the game before heading to Dunedin. Many thanks.
Great to be out on our bikes today on this sunny Sunday, adding smileys to our map. Cache found as described in the clue and is all good. TFTC
Parked up at the tower carpark and walked along the trail of nearby caches. Another fairly straightforward find. TFTC
One of ten caches picked up when hitting the Matamata area including part of the local rail trail ride with pinnochio59 today. We used the car to get to the first few in and close to Matamata. This one was a quick find. #7727. TFTC.
Out caching with my brother Tbird53 in Matamata and some of the HRT nearby today. Great spot here, TFTC
Up from the deep South for a wedding (my nephew Caleb!), so out exploring the area. Nicely timed for the Cosmic Quest. A quick stop here after spending time at the Firth Tower Museum. Off to meet up with more if the family who have arrived in town. Thanks for the cache G-2 and Caleb.# 3862 26 July 2024 2:10 pm
Quick easy find after a 74km bike ride from Matamata to Te Aroha and back- was good to get off the bike seats for a few moments. TFTC
Our last find in Matamata today and a nice one to end on.There were a few cleaners getting the rooms ready at the nearby motel so we needed to use a bit of stealth but soon spotted the very expertly camouflaged cache. We sat on the seat to sign the cache and then were on our way. Thanks G-2 and Caleb for a great end to our visit to Matamata.
Great little find here. Sat on the seat for awhile and looked at the cows across the road. Thanks to the JW Simpson family for their donation of said seat. Tftc
on a road trip over the hill getting some caches now that I have more time due to retirement. Good to visit these smaller town and enjoy the parks Well camoed cache Thanks for all the cache placements TFTC

Heading home from a ladies weekend in Tauranga with Net and SN, we came home via Matamata to find a few new caches. A nice quick find here with the hint TFTC
Nice quick find but took all my skills and patience to retrieve the log from the cache. It appeared stuck way back. Out came my trusty tweezers.
In Matamata with rattll and Fleur the Geohound. The cycle path was busy with Sunday walkers, plus one or two cyclists, so some stealth required. A quick find, though, so sat on the seat to sign. All good, signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
We were in Matamata to watch one of the young rattll's play football (and look after her 'mini me' while she did so). After the game was finished, and nanna duties were completed, we grabbed some local caches before heading home. This was quick find, although we had to be mindful of lots of muggles coming and going. Thanks for putting this here
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)This is how we do itIt's Friday nightAnd I feel alrightThe party is here on the West Side (The Waikato Side).Gap is doing a crazy personal calendar loop challenge, so were doing some after work caching. We thought we knew the host seat, but didnt realise there was more than one. The hint narrowed things down and pointed to another crafty, clever hide. Thanks G-2. TFTC.
slight detour on our way heading to Auckland.no problems to collect this cache this evening.TFTC
Over with Boges. All quiet along the cycle trail today so was able to do the necessary in peace. Cache was quickly located and signed. Thank you for the placement.
**21055**Heading to Auckland for a quick pick up of a Marketplace purchase we detoured slightly to grab these fairly nearly placed caches (and visit Maccas) on the way. Nice quick find here under the cover of darkness. Not a muggle in site. TFTC
Out and about with Kiwi Does Stuff for a nighttime caching binge, nice camo on this hide! Appreciate the caches!
Nice quick find & met COs son. I have stayed at this motel highly recommend it. Beautiful Waikato day
Another random night mission with Reschedule. This time we decided to head to Matamata where we had a few new caches, and some older ones we had missed.A quick easy find here, and thankfully plenty of room for parking. TFTC
After returning from a successful FTF here in the Tron, I decided to curl up on the sofa and watch a movie that I had saved on Netflix. I am a sucker for dramas, and this movie is definitely a tear-jerker. it revolves around the lives of 3 people -a husband and wife and their childhood best friend. The wife, a cancer survivor, learned that her disease had returned, and no longer wishes to be treated. The 3 of them go on a road trip through Tasmania to fulfil some items in her bucket list. During one particularly tearful scene, I got the notifications for the new caches. It threw me in a massive dilemma. Do I ignore the possibility of getting more FTFs today and carry on crying over Shane reuniting with her father after 30 years? or do I stop crying, hit the pause button and drive for about 40 minutes to try and get the FTFs, and then resume the crying later? Needless to say, geocaching won. I told FMZ, who was doing on call work and not minding his phone, about the caches. Off we went with my favourite caching accessory, The Jger. This was stop #4. On a FTF high, we parked across the road and then spotted G-2 and Caleb's seat. Followed the hint and reached behind and cache was quickly found -another cleverly constructed container! We sat down for a while after signing and returning, basking in the beautiful sunshine, then back to the car we went. Thanks for the [FTF] cache!
