Out and about caching with fitzy_1965.Today we targeted this group of Tankengine caches. It was a nice wander along the railway except for the blackberries! So many blackberries!A nice simple find.
Found with minniek during another beautiful walk in Canberra. After a bit of a sleep in (oops we missed the event) we decided to keep to the rest of our original plans and drive in to Canberra for a walk through the bush and along a railway line. The last time I went out around this loop was March 2009 ! Parking at the Paintball place we headed off along the paths until we hit the railway line, which we then followed for all today's caches. This cache was a nice easy one (and we breathed easy again for a while). Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued on to the next one on our list. Thanks Tankengine for all nine caches today !!
#22166 @1330My son said "Let's go for a walk'. I said sure, i know just the place, even though it looked like it might rain. We parked at the paint ball and headed up the hill to then along the old railway track. My son found it strange that we were walking along the border. NSW on the left, ACT on the right. A quick find at GZ, then we headed back the way we had come. TFTC.
@1010 [FTF] I saw these notifications come through and was very close to turning over and going back to sleep, but they were close enough to me that I figured I could make a morning out of these rail tracks and see where it took me. These tracks are tough on the ankles and knees so by the time I got to this cache all the joints were starting to hurt... and then I realised I had to get up there! Slightly heartbreaking, but I was determined, so without thinking that there surely would be an easier way to get up, I started essentially free climbing up. This spot has beautiful views of the surrounding farmlands so I spent a bit of time enjoying the sun and fresh air. Of course, I took the safer path back down to the tracks I'll have to be more committed to other FTFs in the area because the smell of those new logs is like opening a new book, addicting!! Thank you Tankengine for bringing this rail line back to life!
Beautiful sunny Autumn day full of fun and action with friends. This part of the day was a relatively quick adventure along a beautiful old railway line that we have now travelled on quite a few times before now. Now doubt the CO will have us coming out for other caches down the track - get the joke?Quick find once the steep but small cliff face is navigated. Quick find as per hint. TFTC Tankengine.
This would make a great rail trail. Let's hope it happens one day soon. As the photo shows, it is flat with very gental inclines. TFTC
I do like caching along this disused railway line (that I hope will eventually be reborn as a rail trail) - we had a very pleasant meander along here today.A nicely placed little hide here. Thanks for another great railway line cache, Tankengine!
