Logs
Its been a while since I've had some caching time, so when Thewins5 reached out to borrow my tott to complete the fishing pole series, I jumped at the chance to come along. I'd looked at these few previously and being short and not bringing along another tott, made it impossible for me to reach. Thank goodness for tall friends. Log signed and returned as found.
Weather was hot but I wanted to get some caches (particularly ones with higher D/T combinations to boost my annual average). Too hot to walk in Mt Pilot or the Warbys. Not enough in and saving Wagga for a cooler day. So this collection of poke caches at Beechworth were perfect - not too much walking but good numbers.I contacted ampitup1 to borrow her TOTT and she was keen to come along to get the last in the series that she had yet to sign (she got the last five and I signed 8 of 9 and we both walked to one other). We had 3 other tools in the car, two of which were also used at various times.Drove along a road I had never been down before (past the gaol) and down to these two caches next (neither signed by ampitup1). This was an easy retrieve and took a bit more to return but got there in the end.TFTC BettyBoo3747
A morning's Pole Caching with Chewinprickles around Beechworth.Started as a cold morning, but was soon quite warm (after walking up a few hills!)Completed the full collection of animals. Thanks for these caches.Swinging Squirrel was upside down, must have been uncomfortable! We fixed him up and signed his log. Thanks, Robmc.
Out today with Robmc doing some pole caching, a relative new concept to me. Certainly an improvement on ladder caches, Like the animal themes. Thanks BB
I was out with Ronice88 today to tackle some of these new caches. With the appropriate TOTT we made short work of them. I really liked the cache containers as they were not too heavy and really quite quirky. The majority of them were spotted with no problems however I was not sure that all of them now reside in their original spots.
Another big high is sitting over the southern continent so a day trip from home base saw weirdobiker and I targeting a clutch of caches around Beechworth. Such a great day - another cache squirrelled away. TFTC and the FUN
Family day out collecting this new series, so much fun! We came prepared with a 'fishing kit.' I rigged up that worked rather well when nature couldn't provide. We quickly learned that getting them down was easier than putting them back up. Happy to complete them all with a bit of time to collect some solved puzzles caches around Beechworth.First one for the day, we got it down quite easily. Getting it back up was not quiet as straightforward.TFTC!
We found this last one and signed the log around 4:12pm with Beaver and Harrowang. What a fabulous set of caches, we had good fun finding them all. We think you, Betty Boo had a lovely time creating them too, very creative! THANK YOU! (The pole we had was perfect for the job.)
Thats the last of the series. Did you bulk buy these plastic animals BettyBoo?!? Great hides and lots of fun. Great to have Harrowang for company as John is a fishing natural. TFTC and SL 14:10pm.
We are not into pole fishing... well, at least that is what Mr ILT has always said. But in a rare turn of logic we decided that it was probably best to try it first before we make that assumption. So with the MacGyver soundtrack loaded Mr ILT knocked up a 5m collapsible pole this morning and off we went. That poor Squirrel.... I know how it ended up hooked on that branch - from down below the cache container looks like the poor little fella has a rocket up his ....I am not going to say if we enjoyed the pole fishing or not. But I will say that tomorrows job is to find another 3m for our pole.Beautiful area around these locations, but that pretty much just describes Beechworth in general. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for the education.
**3TF** @ 11:22AM Woopwoop The girls and I did a frosty ParkRun in Wangaratta this morning before making plans for the day. We looked to see if there were any FTFs left and to our excitement there were 6!Off we went without a fishing pole so we had to improvise and luckily we were able to find suitable fallen natural poles to get the job done. This was another of the new fishing pole series so we decided to give it a go whilst in the area.We didnt look in on my cache up the hill but its a great little lookout for future finders here to check out. TFTC BB
This was a very cute squirrel hanging around in the tree tops. We had no trouble catching said squirrel, signing him off at 3.06pm and placing him gently back on his perch to swing some more. A fun series to complete on this Mothers Day afternoon. #10,981 TFTC and the animal antics in the Bush BB.
Whoo Hoo ***FTF*** Well, that looks like a clean sweep. He was a bit nutty. Tried to escape but to no avail. I caught the little chap. All good here. Thank you, BettyBoo, for placing the caches for our enjoyment. Well, now that that is done and dusted, might go for a stroll to the letter box. TFTC
