Very nice hide here with quite a detailed hint, thinking a regular cache with only a couple of places it could be would be easy to find. Not seen a container like this before, very nice. Exchanged TBs here. TFTC ??
As we had an unexpected trip south today, we took the opportunity to look for caches in the recently published Highway 1 series. Today we looked for the caches as we headed south - tomorrow we will look for caches on the other side of the highway as we head north. This is an excellent series with well designed caches placed thoughtfully and with safe parking very close by. There were some interesting cache containers, with one particular style we hadn't seen previously - a great design used in a number of hides. Unless stated otherwise, coordinates were accurate (within 5m) and the caches were in good condition. The CO's, quite rightly, have included a very important warning about walking from one side of the highway to the other. It would be remiss of us not to add another. *In some places there are U-turn bays which allow safe access to a cache on the other side of the highway. However, once on the other side, the same access cannot be used safely nor legally to return to the original direction of travel - instead backtracking in the direction opposite of your intended travel is necessary before resuming your original direction of travel.* If possible, the caches are best tackled by looking for those on the side of the road you are travelling, not the other side of the highway. Today we travelled south and were able to find 17 without crossing the highway. We will look for the other 16 tomorrow as we travel north. Thanks Tas_Geo for this cache and the very enjoyable series.
Found on our way to Hobart with a few detours along the way through Jericho, Clifton and out to Chauncy Vale Reserve after camping out at Oatlands for the night. Thanks for the cache Tas_Geo!
Thanks Tas_Geo for placing North Clifton Highway 1 (Tasmania). Swampy and I headed back to plunder more of the Northern coast over the Hobart Show long weekend. 4 day long weekend for 1 days annual leave. Sweet. This is day 5. We are heading for Hobart, as slowly as possible. . At least my log is not full of bad 80s references. This run has us finding both GC and GCA caches. So many caches, so little time. This is my GC find #2275 and was found on 28/10/2024 at 13:21FTF: Found with: selfWeather: fairMuggles: noneLight level: goodCache condition: goodDistance from GZ: Your cache was visited by my trackables: TB9QQD2, TB9KZ39 and TB7HH81
A new series of caches on the Midland Highway published in the week before I was heading north for the 'Hobart Show Day' long weekend - nice one.Today we were heading home after a lovely weekend on the northwest coast and collecting all the 'southbound' caches.I visited not long after EeePees, so thanks to EeePees for the cleanup prior to my visit. A quick find of the cache and it was time to move on.
On the way home from Launnie, not intending to cache this trip, but I've been toting a TB for too long, looking for a decent sized container to place it in.After an impromptu catch-up with Lil Rafa at Somercotes, we continued our travel but called in here to drop off the TB.I pulled up 10m from GZ, and having already read the hint I left the GPSr in the car, and walked straight to GZ with Mrs EPs.Sadly there was a couple of wads of toilet paper on top of the hide. Flicked that away with a stick, and carefully removed the cammo to find some liquid atop the cache. So needed to proceed with care just in case.Anyway, dropped the TB, signed the logbook, and replaced - hopefully in a little better knick than found.I hope this isn't a regular wee stop location. Thanks Geo_Tas for the cache.Cheers,EPs
Coordinates changed from:S 42 34.150 E 147 12.649Coordinates changed to:S 42 34.147 E 147 12.650Distance from original: 18.9 feet or 5.8 meters.Due to feedback from the First To Find about the poor quality of the coordinates and hint I have updated the coordinates to an average of the readings taken at ground zero instead of a median, hint is now also verbose.
**FTF** noonSaw this series come out and we needed to do a few things before we could head out, then the daughter rang to see if we could take her to the city so she could pick up a work car. With that in mind Male membsec changed his original plans but unfortunately he was only going to go for one but ended up doing a few more! He needed to be back for our family get together to celebrate our granddaughters 9th birthday. Interesting placement!TFTC
