The wife and I decided on a sudden weekend away up north, so of course I had to get some caches. Thanks Tas_Geo for hiding this Traditional cache, Ashby Highway 1 (Tasmania). This takes my finds to 2332 and I found it at 16:38 on 29/11/2024. As we had an unexpected trip south yesterday, we took the opportunity to look for caches in the recently published Highway 1 series. Yesterday we looked for the caches as we headed south - today we looked for caches on the other side of the highway as we headed north. This is an excellent series with well designed caches placed thoughtfully and with safe parking very close by. There were some interesting cache containers, with one particular style we hadn't seen previously - a great design used in a number of hides. Unless stated otherwise, coordinates were accurate (within 5m) and the caches were in good condition. The CO's, quite rightly, have included a very important warning about walking from one side of the highway to the other. It would be remiss of us not to add another. *In some places there are U-turn bays which allow safe access to a cache on the other side of the highway. However, once on the other side, the same access cannot be used safely nor legally to return to the original direction of travel - instead backtracking in the direction opposite of your intended travel is necessary before resuming your original direction of travel.* If possible, the caches are best tackled by looking for those on the side of the road you are travelling, not the other side of the highway. Yesterday we travelled south and were able to find 17 without crossing the highway. Today we looked for the other 16 tomorrow as we travelled north.**One property of this object identified the cache very quickly. This is a good hide which should become increasingly more difficult over time.**Thanks Tas_Geo for this cache and the very enjoyable series.
A drive back from Launceston this afternoon and I thought I should stop for one of these caches. I picked this one at random. What a great cache to pick. Tftc
In Launceston again for a 2-Dayer of full-on Caching (after bringing a mate up here to grab his car).I have been out of this game for too long due to seven weeks of illness thanks to a chest infection that just wouldn't let go, (I'm so glad it wasn't the "100-Day Cough" i was told about)... anyway enough about the 'Hiatus from Health', so being back at it was such a breath of fresh air and being away from down south and back in Lovely-Launnie was just what The Doctor ordered I loved stopping at this one as this road was the one i took SO many times during the "Midland Car Park" days, (as it was humorously known due to the absurd speed limits on the work being done for kilometres and kilometres), so i could cut time off going to Devonport. It was an awesome short cut that made such a difference.Made the quick find of a sneaky cache container with a log that i signed at 12:01 on Sat 2/11/24.TFTC Tas_Geo
A new series of caches on the Midland Highway published in the week before I was heading north for the 'Hobart Show Day' long weekend - nice one. With the GeoGSP's loaded in the car, today we headed north.Normally we would head into Ross on our trip north and visit the bakery, but today we pressed on so we could grab this cache. Another quick find.
