**22,303**This time when we called by, the bison was there but his little friend, the bear, had disappeared. Gave him a shell to give him a bit of cover. TFTC

I was heading down to Rotorua to participate in an epic half-marathon trail race up two and a half mountains in the Whakarewarewa Forest. I decided to make a long weekend out of the trip and spend some time geocaching while I was on holiday. I left Auckland early to get through the city before the Friday morning rush hour traffic started to build up. However, I forgot that SH1 between Kinleith and Tokoroa was closed due to roadworks, so I ended up with a big detour through Rotorua and backtracking to start my second Bison hunt.This was an interesting location and a nice start to the day getting covered in dust from the dirt road.

This little Bison must have gone for a swim, Nice and clean he is back in his spot with his best friend.

First of the DNF's on this trail for us. Definitely no sign of this Bison, he's gone to greener pastures!

Got these along time ago when they were published we got some FTF. I was car sick most of the day so have put logging these on hold just got reminded by the team that I havent logged these yet. So here are my cut and paste logs

Day two of hunting Bison on a sunny but chilly day. Really enjoying the series out and about on the back roads. Thanks for all the work establishing and maintaining the trail for us all to enjoy.Fun find out in the wops TFTC.

Chasing the Bison Part 2. After a busy morning the geopooch and I headed out to see if we could catch a few more Bison. It was a thundery afternoon with a few downpours, hailstones and sunshine in between. We headed out to do the tail end of the bison and managed to scoop up another 20 or so. Sadly a couple of DNFs as well. The roads varied from smooth state highways to gravel back roads with some beautiful vistas thrown in to satisfy my nature loving self. Really enjoying this series and am now about half way. Many thanks to the COs for all their hard work. Cheers

Me and Taybee decided to take a 3 day trip up to Taruanga and Auckland to visit family and do some shopping. The first day was enjoyable with us finding some caches around Taihape before the rain came in. Day 2 was spent around auckland getting a cache or 2 in between the rain spells and then Day 3 was spent heading home collecting 50 of the bisons and other caches around the place. Signed as either TB/NZ or T/NZ. TFTC

#15,026. I was driving back to Wellington today after staying overnight at my sister's place in Rotorua. Decided to boost my Cosmic Challenge numbers by finding some of the solved bison series. I began seriously solving these only a couple of weeks ago and managed to get about 40 done prior to the trip up north. Certainly a good test of the memory and eyesight scrolling through the various (and many) options in batches of 5-10 trying to spot the differences. Today I started up in the NW section and headed southwards. Most of them were fairly quick finds although a few took a bit more searching. Encountered 3 different farmers who wondered what I was up to. All are now more enlightened about the nature of our silly game. I imagine they shook their heads and thought crazy townies. Anyway thanks Kiwi_Does_Stuff and Reschedule for setting up this awesome bit of geoart and thanks for placing out so many bisons. I obviously can't recall all of the 30 caches I found in about 3 hours of driving and looking. But it was nice to drive once more on familiar roads. I used to work on hay and silage gangs in this area in the late 1970s over the hot summer days when I was a student. Certainly more tarsealed roads now than there were 40-50 years ago. Happy Days.This was a fun tree. Been given a few decorations by the farmers kids I expect. I soon located the correct cache guardian.

On a day trip with ABCDF4 and eyespyben with intention to see how much of a herd of bison we could gather. In the end we spent about 6hrs and had ticked off over 70. All logs were signed KEA (Kaygeedee Eyespyben Abcdf4)Interesting tree with a lot of interesting objects. Eventually found the correct guardian.Thank you for the placement

This is my second day trying to brand any many bisons before the forecasted rains come.If my grandaughter was me she would say "Aww, cute".Cheers for the cache, Reschedule & Does Kiwi Stuff.

Found on a short trip away with woolwood9.Our second day on the ***Bison Trail***Started at the first Bison of the day just after 7-30am.We were not in a real hurry but still couldn't find a few of them today, however overall 97 Bison caches signed over the two days. It was a beautiful, sunny winter's day, so matagouri and I headed to Rotorua to launch a second attack on the beastial bison roaming the area.This time we opted for a more discreet mode of transport, leaving the campervan behind, and taking the micro mobile, that can park in the smallest of gaps.Apart from the odd muggle issue, there weren't too many issue's making the finds.Thanks for setting up this awesome series.A very interesting hiding place here. I spent a while checking out other interesting bits before matagouri spotted what we were really after.

A sunny winter Saturday, an opportunity for rattll and I to make a day-trip from Hamilton in the geomobile, rather than bring the much larger campervan to stay overnight. This time we came down SH1 to Atiamuri, and approached the area from the west. Most of the caches were quickly found, one or two took a bit longer. Parking was much easier in the small geomobile. Thanks for putting out this series. I totally misunderstood the hint, and looked at a spot slightly away from GZ, while rattll hunted at the coordinates. The hint made a lot more sense when we spotted the cache. Tftc!

TeamBOP planned a long overdue mission to Waikato, but plans suddenly changed overnight when this series was published.Thanks to one member who decided sleep can wait, we had the corrected coords of the complete series ready to go in the morning, so we hit the road early to try grab as many FTF's as we could. Not early enough it seems, as we had somehow been beaten to most caches even before the frost had settled on the ground. Quick find here in the obvious place. Tftc

Saw these come out and big change of plans for Team BOP Big night doing the solves and off the next day to collect the caches. Lots of fun and great to be out with fellow cachers today. Thanks from r setting this mission up much appreciated. TFTC

On a mish with the team. (Team BoP) Bern a long time since our last trip together. A great day for it and a fab way to celebrate Matariki. A quick change of plans last night after this series was published. What a team effort!!

With / logged as Team BoPI was one date short of completing the Trad a Day / 365 Challenge (GCA73Q3). The 28th of June was my last gap on the calendar, and as luck would have it, fell on Matariki Friday. I had been planning a different mission with the Team, but this Bison Trail dropped conveniently overnight. Plans changed rapidly as we went into puzzling mode - One of our group worked like a machine and churned out solve after solve through the night... Our successes today are largely due to his efforts!The hint made more sense once the cache was in hand. Thanks KDS. TFTP and TFTC.
