This building was originally located on the road to Pinery (GC16N9W - Dalkey C of C) but was demolished and the stones used for this Owen Church of Christ. The minutes of the early congregation meetings quite often included misconduct and strict discipline of the members (including absence from Sunday worship of 3-4 weeks and attending public dances) and members were often reminded of their financial obligations. This building in Owen was opened on September 2nd 1906 and at one time employed A.H.Wilson from Illonois to be the evangelist minister who was paid 150 pounds per year, monthly. In 1939 the church purchased a second-hand Model T Ford, for 15 pounds, for the preacher. Over the years, this congregation had a close affiliation with Alma, Long Plains and Balaklava Churches of Christ. Although not a member of this congregation, I have many fond memories of this building.TFTC

After picking up the Rat from her nest we headed west to the Yorke Peninsula to meet up with the Starfish at Port Vincent for some Tuesday Trekking. A good variety of caches were found, mainly traditionals but the vast majority were ones we all wanted which was great. Thanks to a pagan's need for another Used 2B church this one was found on the indirect way home. Thanks to Freddo the Non Believer for adding this cache to the nice series he also started.Cache #15039 for me.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*
