#23155 @0855Day 5 of a 9 day trip: Drive from Canberra to Melbourne, then by air to Flinders Island, Launceston, King Island, and back to Melbourne, then drive back home to Canberra. Today is day 1 of 2 days on Flinders Island. A quick find after a short amble down the track. TFTC.
Every day is an adventure it seems and after yesterday's cancelled flight due to conditions too difficult to land, and then todays circling till the conditions improved... beyond all hope, we made it! Our first stop on the island and its stunning. Calm, warm and a delightful location. The drizzling rain had stopped, and the fog clearing but we did get wet from the bushes, careful on the wet rocks we searched about. Maybe the adrenalin from the approach to the island was still going but we overthought and missed the nicely hidden, but easy to locate cache and a bonus *FTF* as well. Loved the drawings and messages in the log from the CO and family prior to publishing. Thanks for the cache. We're heading to King Island, via Mallacoota and lakes entrance towards Melbourne. An atlas mapping challenge directing our way towards our waiting plane. Flinders Island, some mainland Tassie, before our target, King Island... our last cachable LGA in Australia!Having been caching for years on our LGAs, sacada and myself teamed up six months ago to tackle the hard ones, then as it happened, all of those that remained. We now are making our way to the last, Flinders for sacada, then King for us both. It has been quite a journey! Thanks for your cache.
Off to Tasmania to get Flinders Island LGA and finally the last LGA for AU at King Island. TFTC.Today is off to a better start. Still fog in the morning. Start with a nice big buffet breakfast.Just enough time to travel south to Parkdale to complete a Canberra to Melbourne multi. May as well grab a trad while here. Oh, an Ad Lab is near. Better get that. What's that just over there. A virtual. Can't miss that one. Oh, and a bonus on the Ad Lab. Better hurry. Have to travel at least an hour though Melbourne city to get to the airport. The clouds are shifting so looks good for the flight. The plane looks... hmm... fine. I am sure it has done many, many, many trips.Flew to Flinders Island but a new fog had set in. The plane circled 3 times and with windscreen wipers going frantically, it finally made a descent to cheers from the passengers.Second last LGA ticked off. Nice.Yay. Finally made it to Flinders Island. Wonderful views and an awesome walk... even in the rain.Nice to get a *ftf* since it's been published 3 months ago.
