A fantastic event with a great attendance. Thank you to all who came and indulged this EO's frivolity by designing and wearing our tin hats with antennae. We certainly made some people smile that day!!! Congratulations to **Brewmaker** who was awarded the **Official FTF** for the day. Here are some pics to enjoy.
I guess our gathering convinced the visitors to stay! Our friends from outer space will extend their visit!
#6197Well that was fun.Lots of laughter and great designs for our ET Phone Home foil hats. We certainly got some looks for passers by, especially all the school kids on excursion.A great attendance on a glorious day in Sydney. ??????
(2 of 5 today - including 3 Adventure Labs)Headed into the city with the Geowife to attend the Cosmic E.T. event at Observatory Hill. Of course other caches and a very nice lunch in QVB followed. If only there was good parking closer to our nearest Metro station - oh well, we got a warmup walk.###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###Before reaching this event, I looked for the new AL at Barangaroo station. I was somewhat flummoxed until **Brewmaker** emerged and advised GZ was actually back downstairs. After that, it was a quick find of:* Barangaroo###END OF ADVENTURE LAB SECTION###Arrived to find a number of people there - not to mention **Mrs Gaztek** zooming past on her scooter as me made the final walk up to the park. The things you make people do, **C62**! Sheesh. We only had one attendee who didn't get in on the alfoil insanity.I think the schoolkids did well to keep their distance from us.Good company and chat and time to head off.SLTNLNTFTEvent
arrived as the group photo was takensaid hello to some old friends and some new onesbought a geocaching nsw 2024 geo-coin as a souvenir, it will come on adventures while we visit the geo-daughter in sydney
Sneaked out of the office for a couple hours to come see what the retirees get up to while the rest of us are at work. Scaring school children and confusing international tourists it seems! Thanks Calypso62 for the event!
Arrived as the group photo was being taken. Left Barb with the credit card while bubba_89 and I hunted down the closeby AL.TFTE
10:44am.My apologies Calypso62,My afternoon calendar has now filled up and I shall not be able to venture forth to the city for this event.Enjoy and cache on!Much Obliged, - Alephroom.
A fun and funny event - especially when the school groups passed by to witness a group of tin-foil hat cladded geocachers waved and smiled at them. Even better when a random bike tour passerby fronted up to ask about the goings-on, confessed to geocachinghood and donned a tin foil hat herself! The guy sleeping rough nearby may have been questioning his own eyes. Thanks so much for organising, C62. Hope we earthlings are able to make contact with the others. SL TFTE Cheers Gaztek
I like these retirees events.Well that was unexpected and lots of fun!Still I guess one should expect such goings on at a Calypso62 event. What must have the muggle passers by have thought we were up to? The school muggles weren't sure whether to look or not. It was a beautiful winter's day and a great venue with excellent views of our city's history old and middle aged and new. A great place to mingle with geocaching buddies and for a couple more to appear out of the passing crowd. TFTE # 6195
#7668Heading into the city for this event, I had no idea what was in store for us. Switched onto the Metro at Chatswood for the express to Barangaroo. From there it was up a lot of stairs until I made it to GZ where there was already a large crowd gathered in the rotunda. To everyone's surprise, the CO pulled out a couple of rolls of aluminium foil and gave us vague instructions for making a tin foil hat. It had to include antennae and we also needed to mould an ET finger for extra points. Plenty of strange looks from passers-by, but surprisingly a few dropped in to check out what all the amusement was about. Of course, the CO immediately went into recruitment mode. A very unique event at an iconic location which got me over the line for the second Cosmic Quest souvenir. Thanks Gaztek for the photo.TFTC Calypso62
Thanks Calypso, another fun event in a beautiful part of Sydney.Made us construct alfoil hats for outer space communication, and amazed passers-by with his explanations and exuberance.Nice to catch up with some previous Norfolk trip folk too.
How embarrassing to be with such a crazy bunch. At least they were all friendly. TftE.
Today we head over the Spit Bridge to Neutral Bay for a Mystery field puzzle cache, and then a previously solved Mystery puzzle cache, and ended our day with a walk over the Sydney Harbour Bridge to attend a Cosmic Quest Geo Event at Observatory Hill. This was the 3rd of 3 finds for the day. After finding a couple of Mystery puzzle caches in the Neutral Bay area we next drove to Kirribilli, where we got lucky, scoring an 8 hour parking space for the geomobile. We then walked up to and then over the Sydney Harbour Bridge to reach Observatory Hill for this Cosmic Quest Event. Unfortunately, on our way through the back streets of Kirribilli to reach the bridge, the family's chief puzzle solver had a slip & fall resulting in numerous grazes and some blood. Fortunately no bones were broken, and we were able to patch her up with medical supplies from a nearby convenience store, so our mission to cross the bridge to attend the Event could continue. After a pleasant stroll over the bridge we soon arrived at the Event which, due to the delay caused by our misadventure at Kirribilli, was now more than halfway through it's one hour duration. We missed the tinfoil hat fashion parade, and the group photo, but still saw a few of the awesome silver cosmic hats and had a very pleasant time chatting all things geo with the friendly group. It was great catching up with everyone, and thanks Mr C for organising the Cosmic Event, which hopefully generated many gallons (litres) of spaceship fuel for E.T. and a his alien mates to continue their cosmic journey.Find #7043
This was an event I will not forget soon. I was running a bit late, and as I approached, the CO, wearing a crazy tin foil hat, was waving down at me and a bunch of nearby kids. Then I noticed everyone at the event wearing these crazy hats! Of course I had to join in and thanks to frazeydazes craftiness I was soon wearing a crazy tin foil hat, with antennas!! Much fun! And, of course great geo chatter with a group of fantastic people. Thanks for the memorable event Calypso62 ??
Thanks Calypso64, that was fun! That should certainly have channelled the aliens
Very unexpected and a lot of fun.Loved making tin foil hats to help with the Cosmic Quest. Thanks to Calypso62 for another great event.
A fun event where lots of senior aliens, and a couple of younger space cadets, turned up wearing tin foil hats. Those wandering past must have been very confused, or worried that an invasion had happened. The homeless guy trying to sleep nearby must have thought he was having a nightmare. Winning the [FTF] was a bonus. Another top event hosted by C62. TFTE
Well there was plenty of positive energy for ET and his cosmic mates to continue their travels at the event today. The CO arrived with rolls of alfoil for each of us to make a cosmic hat - lots of fun was had by all and we got some funny looks from the passing parade of school children. Thanks for organising this event calypso.
Unfortunately I may not get there now as I still seem to be suffering a streaming nose that could be the flu or another visit from Covid, so probably better not to spread it around. But feel free to discover the Cosmic Quest coins I won off the Geocaching Downunder podcast a couple of weeks ago that I was going to bring along. CC6R4E and CC2974.
Might attend if work permits and there is a reasonable connection from St Leonards. Perhaps the metro?
Now Monday is my tennis day, but ....So I used the transport app to find the best way from tennis to Observatory Hill. Well it tells me to get a bus from right beside the tennis courts, convenient, to North Sydney then change to the new Metro and get off at Barangaroo Station and walk. Fair Dinkum the light rail isn't even operating!!!I'll have to find another way!
Right next to my virtual and I am overseas! Hope everyone enjoys the great view from there. Aussiebrian
Should be able to make this one, need some time in the city to get some of the ALs as well.
