Logs
After last nights thunderstorm, the weather forecast looked good today so I decided to head out for a hike around Cascades Kauri Park, doing a clockwise loop from the carpark, an area that I've always enjoying walking. This was my first cache find for the day, a nice easy find at GZ. The cache was in a pool of water and was being kept underwater by the rock placed to hide it! But this didn't seem to matter, as the cache was still nice and dry inside. TFTC!
TFTC - exciting to see someone else was here same day! Hasn't happened to us yet and it's the morning
After stopping for lunch at the other end of the dam we carried on this way. There were a few possible plants to have a good look at but I spotted the most likely one and we soon had the cache in hand and the log signed.
MrsJAG joined up with fellow geomates Tramyard, Rusty,Lumin and Flossieteacake on a wonderful Wednesday to find the caches in the Cascades. We signed the logs as JAVASS - made up from our real names! This was the first find in this track for me, as I had recently found some caches in the area. Knowing how beautiful the area is, I was naturally keen to revisit and spend more time exploring this area. A great hiding spot for a cache and we soon had the cache located. We paused to take in the magnificent tranquility here before continuing along the trail in a clockwise direction. TFTC
We came up from the golf course, a clockwise directionThe Te Henga road is closed from Falls road, but prior to this there are all these signs telling you the road is closed (eg the whole length of the road from the Scenic drive). But.... ignored those signs, as I had spoken to the golf course staff, who informed me you could get to them via the Scenic drive, not if you tried to come from the Waitakere diversion which is closed!Happy to be the first car in the car park, and not long after the rest of our team arrived (I have some cache maintenance to do after the walk, so choose to bring my car down to the start)As to the cache, great hint and co-ords, and the log was soon being signed with JAVASS (jubilation all views admired spectacular seascape) leach letter our real world initials - (rustynz, jag50, tramyard, flossieteacake and lumin298)
Caching the Cascade Kauri loop (clockwise) as part of a group of 5 cachers today, signing all the logs as JAVASS (an acronym of our first initials). This was the 9th cache we found today.I had a great day out today as well, with 4 geomates instead of 2. I agree that this area is amazingly beautiful, and it was a privilege to be so close to such spectacular kauri trees after it was closed for so long. We appreciated the detailed description for this one, which made the cache a nice quick find. All is well here, thank you very much for placing it!(#2386)
Found it with a great company of flossieteacake , Jag50 ,lumin298 and rustynz on a beautiful Wednesday. As we decided to go on a week day we had a whole loop pretty much for ourselves.Beautiful area and many thanks for placing several hides to get an extra reason to visit this magnificent spot in Waitakeres which is Cascades Kauri Regional Park. Logbook signed asJAVASS.TFTC
A solo excursion for Mr Coblet.I have planned to walk the Fence Line track for a few weeks, ever since the six new caches along the loop were published, and I almost headed out here on a few occasions but didn't due to weather and other things. But when this cache and two other new ones were placed last week and I decided I had to make the effort and planned to visit today.I didn't expect the FTF to still be up for grabs but when I checked the logs this morning I was surprised to see there had been no finds yet and was excited at the potential for up to three FTFs.I headed out early after dropping Mrs Coblet off at work and arrived in the Waitakere Dam carpark just before 7am, so it was a peaceful walk down to the dam in the growing early morning light. The sun was about to come up as I approached GZ and I soon spotted the nicely hidden cache. But was I first?I opened the container and was very pleased to see a nice blank log. What a great start to the day. Lovely weather, a new track to explore and some new caches to findThanks Supernanny for placing this cache and providing the motivation to head out here.{FTF} 7:15am
I had an excellent day out with the girls i.e supernannny and net61. A one way walk was planned from Scenic Dr to the dam, around past this cache towards the Waitakerie golf course, which ended up taking close to 5 hours! But we did place 3 caches as well, inc this one. We weren't initially going to place anything, but how could we not! This a great location supernannny and glad we brought along a few containers just in case, thanks for the hide and glad it has been visited a few times already!
