Attended this CITO with minniek, albida33 and another group of people who braved crossing the traffic.Unwilling to risk the traffic crossing, the three of us went down to the rowing car park and walked through the tunnels to Black Mountain. We made our way along the edge of the road up on top of the concrete walls and quickly filled our bag with spray paint cans. The CO was happy with that and so we made our way back to the cars with another section of BM cleaned up. Congrats to isopeda on reaching 8,000 finds here today !Thanks pantspeople !!
Originally we had planned to attend, then went hiking with hoping to attend. Time got away but if we moved quick we could just make it towards the end. I was quite unsteady on my feet by now so was going to make an effort but let sacada go ahead to make it. We took different approaches, with me walking on the road. Lots of passing traffic but felt safe and far enough away. How I heard a whistle above the traffic noise is a miracle in itself, or isopeda has a good one, but heard it and turned to see her on the opposite side of the road. We communicated by messenger to get over the traffic noise before we continued on our ways and i arrived right at the end about the same time as sacada. We collected a good amount of nails screws and sharp metal bits from the road on the walk back.Today was quite a full day of caching. The longest I've had for a while, walking wise anyway. A group met for some challenge caches, nice walking and good company. Normally, this would be my limit, but going okay with my new treatment and was able to join a smaller group that continued on afterwards relatively unaffected or as best I could. We all had different caches, so soon split our different ways to continue around the ranger Hills. Time was tight but made it out and to a CITO on Black Mountain right at the end. Thanks for your cache!
My little brother had his birthday party in Belconnen this afternoon, and this CITO fit in nicely beforehand! I parked at the rowing club on Black Mountain peninsula and made my way to the listed coordinates to be greeted by the CO & small handful of geocachers who had come from a couple different directions. Ive been here before, but only once! So it was good to come back to this odd location for a different reason Thanks for hosting! Headed back with the group and helped them with a couple cache finds.
I had been out in the morning and managed to find a cache, so after a quiet middle of the day at home, I headed down to the meeting point to join in this clean up effort. Unfortunately the direct approach to GZ was not something I or my walking companions were willing to do. We headed down to the rowing car park and planned on walking under the highway and along the hillside to GZ. As we made our way along the edge of the highway towards GZ, we were able to fill up our bag with mostly empty paint tins, so we checked in with the CO with an image and headed back to the car. This gave me time to get to another activity later in the afternoon as well. Thanks for the cache pantspeople49675.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & July 2022 Bushwacking A#492**Albida**
Unfortunately our plans have changed and we wont be able to attend this event. Enjoy!
Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC. A very busy long caching day today. Started out with a few local cachers to get a series of challenge caches with tree fishing and tree climbing.Once done the group continued onto more caches and slowly dwindled in numbers until there was only two of us.Just finished climbing over many large hills to be exhausted with just enough time to rush to a 'banana' CITO in a very hard place to access. More hill climbing and lots of bush bashing. Even more exhausted.A quick Ad Lab on the way back to the van to get a souvenir. Nice.Wow. Made it. That was a rough bush bash. Crazy spot.
An out of the way spot for this CITO, with a diverse mixture of approaches to get there and back. A solid haul of rubbish collected and disposed of appropriately, plus some warm (both in temperature and mood) to boot - always good to catch up with others. Thanks to everyone who chipped in and tackled the tricky terrain. We definitely earned the T rating methinks! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Ended up leaving the grandkids at home as I deemed it safer to cross the multiple roads on my own. Arriving 13 mins late, two of us headed in the direction the others had not yet explored. Christine and I found a bag full of litter so it was a productive hike up and down the slippery slopes. A very different and interesting place for a CITO. I enjoyed the walk to and from the Black Mountain Carpark. TFTE pantspeople.
#22810 @1400A CITO with a difference: dodging traffic to get there and back. Managed to collect half a bag of rubbish, leaving that stretch of roadside considerably cleaner than when we arrived. Thanks for the event.
I think our approach would make this a T3.5.... This is find #8000 for me. It's also my 73rd CITO and, 73 is the 21st prime number. A really fortunate coincidence. Thank you for organising this CITO at this unusual location. *Attended with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Sue Veneer called me here. I arrived at bang on 1400. Bags full of rubbish greeted me. Was I 2 l8?TFT CITO E pp What a lovely spring day this is.
Yep, I can make this hike mid-afternoon with grandkids in tow, weather permitting! A 10:40am hiking start, as per the hint, may be entirely necessary as the grandkids will be suffering from iPad withdrawal symptoms. It may not be that easy to coax them to the start point but I will certainly give it a go as exercise is good for them - not that they will always agree! Should be fun!
voicing my will attend, but not sure yet, if I can make it. Thanks for the invite.
I was planning to come to this ... until the date changed ...(I will be away at a quilting Retreat all weekend - which reminds me that need to do a pre poll vote - so I figured I will remind any of you reading this - don't forget to go have your democracy sausage before or after your Geocaching banana
Rescheduled to Sunday October 20th. I am no longer free at the original time and date and this was the next best option. Still at 11 am, still at the same coordinates.
Rescheduled again, to Saturday 19/10/24, 2pm-3pm. The previous time clashed with the 4WD tour happening on Sunday 20/10. Sorry for the back and forth.
Also, bring a banana for a bit of fun on the day, and a chance to claim FTF! More will be revealed at the event, but the date of the event could give you a clue as to what might be involved
I'd like to come along to this one. A part of Black Mountain that I haven't explored yet.
Brilliant location for it, I've been meaning to come here for ages for caching, I intend to attend!
