Originally approached from the wrong direction so entered the right way after doing a few others in the area with fayemous65
SideTracked find 336Due to Tom Tom navigation, I believe I approached this from the wrong direction. But got there. Cache and log are good. Nice decoration. TFTC Slowdog.
We love anything to do with trains, especially steam trains. So we are easily sidetracked to discover this hidden miniature railway, with plenty of action happening today. We were able to capture three engines out on the miniature track and the end of a full sized freight train on the main Melbourne/Sydney line. Oh, and we did find and SL at 1.24pm Left: Thomas the tank engine toy #11,310 TFTC Slowdog
Quick detour while passing by to retrieve cache thanks for the cute little cache
Found by The Empire + HWe left Bright in the morning, the crisp mountain air still fresh as we set off on our drive back to Melbourne. The early light cast a soft glow over the landscape, highlighting the mist clinging to the hills and the dewy greenery along the roadside. The quiet streets of Bright slowly disappeared behind us as we made our way onto the winding roads leading out of the Alpine region.By the time we reached the open plains, the familiar sight of Melbourne on the horizon marked the end of our journey. The shift from the serenity of the mountains to the bustling energy of the city was striking, but the calm of the morning drive stayed with us, making the return feel more relaxed and reflective. We followed the GPS to this one on the way up, couldn't get it from the other side of the tracks, righted the wrong today with a quick find. Thanks for the cache Slowdog.-M
Tftc, beginning of day of caching with fourtwelve, he's previously gotten and bought me here to let me find. Cache is still in good condition.
What a secret little railway you have brought me too. Would love to see it all running. Great addition to the sidetracked series although I think the only way to get here would be walk, pedal power or motor vehicle. Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache, found just now with no issues. 2 wheel drive car got here just fine on the ramp day, but it may be difficult to access here during particularly wet times, given likely muddy conditions on The Dene to get here.Attached photograph taken back in January at a non-steam running day, attended by invitation only. This club has been around a while and chooses to not do public running; there are already many other such clubs around, and the members here enjoy just running for fun without having public around to potentially cause issues (also believe it leads to lower insurance costs for them).
Yes we agree with n0w0rries, that its a shame it isnt opened to the public, but this organization may still be in its infancy. We had a quick find here of a well themed container, which is always nice, but just a note of caution with no marked access points we needed to cross both major Melbourne to Sydney north and south bound railway tracks to access the cache.TFTC
Trailhead added, for safety reasons please enter via The Dene off Broadford-Wandong Road. Remember trains travel fast and don't stop. Please don't cross the V/Line tracks.
Silver medal with +Wife.Adding yet another SideTracked find to the tally.Such a shame this facility isn't open to the public. It would be fantastic to take a Miniature Train ride through the trees.
