Found at 3:00 PM GAFF5/1. Oh my gosh - how many possible red herrings can one cram into a cache page Never seen so many incorrect goes in certitude!Arrived at GZ and it was a lovely clear day - but the wind was starting to gust which was a bad omen as it turned out. Went around in circles for a few moments and then there it was - way up there about 13 - 14 metres up - just great when you have an 8 metre pole and you are about 2 metres tall and maybe 2.5 metres with arm extended So plan B was implemented and another TOTT employed which looked quite a risky set up if you were not determined to get a cache With the wind blowing the rod all over the place and with one arm around the tree and the other hand holding an 8 metre pole to precisely guide it to a tiny piece of wire, it was a major achievement to get it down! A sigh of relief and then to replicate it all over again to replace it - which BTW I was tempted to just leave it on the ground and plead that it wasn't me [:o)]Thanks Husky_.
Outnabout while in town for a couple of weeks collecting a smiley here and there. After a discussion with Di Morgan last week, I was happy to join forces today to retrieve this insanely high tree fish at between (12.5-13m). Am I the only one that thinks that height is ridiculous for tree fishing given the limit for 90% of cachers is probably 7-9m? I dont think so. Did I personally enjoy the extra challenge? Absolutely! Another great day for caching. TFTC Husky_
Had a look at this cache about a week ago & realised that it was out of our reach & we would need a longer pole or 2 different TOTTs to reach it.We were in town & had a call from Wollaston about going out to see if his much longer pole would make the grade. It needed the extra long pole plus the height from the cacher to bring it to ground.Tricky puzzle that I needed a push to find the answer required. Thanks Husky for the puzzle & hide.
OMG! I didn't realise you could hide a cache this far off the ground without having to abseil over a cliff or something. With the Fishing rod extended to the max, I was still way too short. Lucky I had an extra TOTT in the back of the ute, a more traditional one mind you. So, with two of us putting in the hard yards, we managed to get the cache on terrafirma. Logging duty done, we almost had to abort, as the rod collapsed and we were wondering (well I was anyway) what next? Just tell the CO the branch had broken and it was on the ground? We eventually got it back in place, but what an adventure and worthy of a FP. Many thanks and cheers from Browngang.
#8078Hunter Cachers in Kempsey event has brought us up north for the weekend, and theres plenty to do. Targeting the good DTs mainly, and other cool types or caches that look fun! end of copy paste Well this one deserves a long logI looked at this puzzle when it was first published but didnt get much other than the red herring, and over the next few weeks, I looked on and off every now and then but to no avail.I was sitting in the car on the way home from school discussing PMQ puzzles with Dad, then I had another look, what is this, I recognise that, whats this place, aha! Checker liked my answer too! Woohoo, very cool puzzle idea, might need to borrow it I think others have the wrong idea, so many incorrect attempts! And today at GZ, boyoboy! The wind was up and the spitting rain and cold rolled in right when we arrived. Got our pole and trudged in, spotted the cache, then spent a solid 15 minutes attempting retrieval while the pole blew back and forth, until we got it, and down she came!Replacement was a bit more straightforward thankfully, and back the way we had it. TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache Husky_
#8078We're on our way to Kempsey for the weekend, for some country-music-caching around the fabled 'Slim' trail. We spent the day in the Port Macquarie area, starting out in Kew/Laurieton and grabbing interesting caches as we went, managing a cool 19 finds in average weather - although despite a fair bit of rain we never really seemed to get that wet. Sneaky puzzle and tricky fish. I was led astray by that mean red herring. By the time I got back I was too tired to give an FP... Seriously - what a hard tree-fish - maybe our hardest yet. It was spotted quite easily but took some time to get down, that's for sure. I have *tendinits*, *arthritis* and probably some *fasciitis* in my neck after this I'm sure!FLTFThanks for the cache!
Found with Portstevo, what a physical D5 it was, but hey we got a new tool in our arsenal now! Wind was an absolute pest but we had to nab this one today before anyone else did having been solved for a short while now. Skippy even stopped to watch for a bit, Tftc
Tftc. Took me a while to find the location as I only had a brief look at first. Once I sat down to have a closer look I found it within seconds! Off to try our luck the next day we discovered our double Tott combination was just long enough to hook it, but not long enough to get it back so we left it and ordered a bigger Tott. Back a week later armed with the bigger Tott we had the height now. But what is this? Wind? A new battle as the tree and the pole swung around. After a 10 minute battle the cache was landed and the blank log signed. Then another 10 minute battle to get it back as the tree and the pole seemed like they were dancing in the wind but never meeting at the right point. Such satisfaction when it was finally returned, but oh so tired . FTF with red_ear_slider. FP for the insane height on this one.
