Thank you for hosting this geocaching Event! The date of the Event has passed. We automatically archive Events after 30 days (60 days for Mega- and Giga-Events). Attendees can still log archived Events, log trackables, and share their experiences.
How lucky was I to have a geocaching event on the same day at similar/suitable time as when I'm in the area for another event - Devonport half marathon - lovely Cafe - passionfruit lemon slice was devine - I had an enjoyable time chatting to people especially as it Mr that gets to go to these things more often then me. Best of luck with your relocating - and adventures that await with a "less found" area
Sorry for not attending today, wishing you all the best in your big move lumin298 Happy caching rustynz
I had booked a table for 10 based on the logs on Friday, but by the time all 15 attendees arrived, it was clear we needed to add a few extra seats on the end. It was great to see everyone and chat about caching. I think we had all directions represented with attendees from around Auckland and even from Huntly. Having not been here for a while I didn't know the cabinet choices were so limited (and the menu so expensive) but I hope everyone had a nice lunch and thank you all so much for coming along (#2434)
Thanks, Lumin, for organising this Event as you prepare to leave Auckland .Hope you soon find a job in Wellington....and I'm sure you will find lots of caches and be part of the active geocaching community down there. As always, it was lovely to catch up with geocaching friends and have a bit of a chat today.
( ???? ??)? I was out and about caching up Albany way, and after 4 ftf's, I got carried away with the time, luckily for me my rescuer flossie and hubby picked me up and we got to this event in plenty of time! if I had relied on the buses I still would have been late...lol.( ???? ??)? When we arrived, only Aiden was here, and she was enjoying a good hearty breakfast. I too was hungry but quite surprised there was no sausage rolls, no hot pies or any other hot food in the cabinet! So just had an expensive coffee, which wasn't up to standard, then the waitress came out with a menu, I looked in disgust when I saw a toasted sandwich for $5 no, $8... no, $12... no, how about $19, I kid you not! WTF! For $19 I can buy a loaf of bread, cheese and ham and make 10 sandwiches or more for that price!( ???? ??)? But we had a good time, lots of good nattering, so loud in there, I could hardly hear what people were saying. Thanks for having your event Lumin, first time I have been here at this cafe - and the last. I wish you well, hope you can find work despite 100's also looking for the same job. I'll look after Jethro's cache, as you know I have it on my watchlist.
Sorry I couldn`t make it .... I wish you all the best in Welly and we are gonna miss you here in Auckland but at the end "It is a small World!" Good Luck Summer!
Wake up this morning decided to go to the event in Devonportwe parked the car in carpark by the wharf and off on the ferrywe meet up with the CO & Sharkbait at the ferry building so it was nice to go over altogether on the ferryGood Luck with your Big MoveNow off with Sharkbait to pick up some caches then back on the ferry
It was a nice coincidence that I happened to be running a 10km race just a few hundred metres from this location that finished in time for this event. Pushing out the start time also meant I could attend prizegiving when they have amazing spot prizes (unfortunately I didn't win anything - but there's always next time!).Had enough time after prize giving to make my way to the cafe and grab myself a well earned early lunch before the event started. Was nice to chat with others.Best of luck with the move, and hopefully you can find a job quickly when you're down there.
Farewell to you too, but at least you will have an expanse of caches to get out and find. And we will let you come back from time to time.
Arrived a little late, but everyone was there, and a table was added to the end. Ate good food, had nice chats and planned our next adventure. As always great to see everyone. Thanks for the event and good luck in your future endeavours. Thanks for the event, good location. #1884
Thanks for the event Lumin. Best wishes for your move to Wellington and your future adventures in your life. Nice to see local cachers and some from further afield. Always lots of stories to share.
M26: representing team Sharkbait, nice little.cafe here, enjoyed fries and a ginger beer. And conversation with other cachers I know very well now. Thanks for the event, Lumin, and good luck for Wellington.
Apologies for my indecision with what to do about this event. I think the easiest thing will be to push it out an hour later to start at 12pm instead (still on the same day - Sunday 6th October). I'll edit the time on the cache page once I get home tonight
That was a concern when I was figuring out what date to have the event and I think it will be a problem. If it was on Tuesday or Thursday instead, would anyone still be able to come?
Just perhaps push time back to start 12 or 12.30..it will clear out quickly after prize giving and then by time event finished the traffic gridlock back along main rd to takapuna/motorway would have cleared too.
Potentially will stop by to say hi probably towards end of this time as prize giving is at 11-11.30 am NOTE Devonport half marathon event is on that am -event base is park beside ferry building, 2,000 plus entrants converging on the area .. so they'll be limited parking from 7am especially in surrounding streets that have no time limits. with road closures and no parking zones in place that day too for the event.
I would have loved to come along to say hi and bye but unfortunately will have just had knee surgery so won't be very mobile. All the best for the future and happy caching
I will literally be 400m away from this location that morning, after running the 10km for the Auckland Half Marathon series, so I really don't have an excuse to not be there. Glad you didn't make the event the next weekend as I'll be in Taupo running a 24km trail run.
