Thank you for hosting this geocaching Event! The date of the Event has passed. We automatically archive Events after 30 days (60 days for Mega- and Giga-Events). Attendees can still log archived Events, log trackables, and share their experiences.
Well, the listed date for this event still says 9/10/24 - I checked that before I came down here - and I was here on time (a few minutes early, actually) and I am still the only one here. I must have missed the email announcement, but, knowing that it is possible to change the date on an event listing, and that the CO had come back from the beach early - I figured I was going to be in the right place at the right time ...I have picked up some rubbish, pulled up a few yucky weeds (the perfect time to avoid the ones I pulled up from flowering/going to seed) and am enjoying the warm sunshine and slight breeze.Hmmm ... *has a think* ... I am here at the listed time, on the listed date ... and nobody else is here (apart from a few dog walking muggles passing by) so ... methinks, surely that must qualify as a *FTF* ?(But I am happy to share it with those who come here tomorrow
A pleasant walk around the lake. Most surprised by the lack of rubbish around this pond. TFTC.
It was a lovely afternoon for a drive south. I'd not been to this area before so I was very grateful to have this chance for a CITO in such a gorgeous place!A group of us walked around the Pond to pick up rubbish as we did the AL and found some other geocaches. Thanks for the CITO, C10A!
A beautiful location now cleaner than ever! One of my grandkids cycled the pond three times while the youngest was content with once around and then 'helped' me clean up. TFTE C10A!
Attended with minniek and a few of the local Cachers.Picked minniek up and headed down to the deep south. It sure takes a while to get here in the post work traffic. Once we arrived we found a few people, picked up some rubbish, had a chat, then started the long drive home. Thanks C10A !!
I got to the event just before the end and manged to catch up with a few people befoe all left, then took my time to do a round of the late in the nice evening light doing the AL and other caches, plus being on the lookout for any rubbish, I found very few items doing the entire round around the lake (see picture) but at least a few. Great spot for an event. Thank you C10A for putting this event on and organizing it all.
Half if the team only had a short time to spare but she thought she would drive in the opposite side of town for this one. Arrived at Gz to find nobody around. It wasnt until the listing was checked that she found an announcement and photo advising that the attendees had left early to go geocaching on the other side of the lake. After contemplating for a few minutes the next steps, Stars Align and Tikva arrived, so a quick walk up the path and we had collected a bag. So with no host or logbook, time to head back.
#22778 @1730It was great to catch up with others while contributing to cleaning up the environment. Thanks for the event.
This one was close to home, (and it was a work from home day) so I headed down for a lap of the pond with a small but enthusiastic group. Some did my AL and we also picked up a puzzle. Thanks for organising C10A. There wasnt much rubbish around as the local community group Friends of Stranger Pond looks after the area well.
Just figured I would mention the reason this area had so little rubbish - after I collected a few bits of rubbish around GZ, I got talking to a friendly local who came wandering nearby and pulled up some weeds across the road - he told me he had walked around the area and collected several bags of rubbish earlier in the week (the usual fast food wrappers and drink containers, and tin cans, etc, left by some of the people fishing around the lake) - and that he and his wife had been cleaning up rubbish and weeding the area for the few years they had lived there, with very little help from any of the other residents. Apparently the garden beds were waist high in weeds when he started, and he took several trailer loads of weeds to the green waste tip.
The date still says the 9th, and I am down here ... but now wondering is it today or tomorrow?! ... if it is tomorrow, I possibly won't be here ..
Sorry, I have to move the Event one day one. It is now on Thursday!!!I'll be at the coast on Wednesday. Special occasion with my mum from Queensland.
