A nice multi for an early Saturday morning in town - not many people around. A quick unnoticed grab and log was signed.TFTC Calypso62.
An enjoyable multi and a clever hide. I was asked by a TFNSW employee if I needed help from the office, they very quickly lost interest when I explained I was there for the plaque lol. Another great urban cache by Calypso62. #3036
Im here in Australia visiting from the US. Decided to walk over and grab this one after having dinner at Neptune Palace. I wasnt exactly sure where to go for the plaque but eventually found it on the bottom floor. Made my way back up and over to GZ. Cleverly hidden where all the people walk by everyday without any idea there is a geocache here. This is my first multi cache in Australia. I didnt want to leave the country without finding at least one of each type so I can now check this one off the list. Thanks for the simple multi in the downtown area.
**Total find count: 1418**With some annual leave, the geokids in school, and @Crzymelly off on work training, with magnificent weather, Trads, Multis, Mysteries and Virtuals at my beck and call, what more could one do but go Geocaching in our great city of Sydney.Since I had to change trains, may as well change trains at a station with a Geocache, and what better than a SideTracked cache. Quickly found the solution to the checker underground, then a quick dash to GZ. Located where the cache was however it was office smoko time, after afew minutes all had dissipated and a quick find was made. Nice sized cache here!
We Dutchies are happy traveling with our campervan from Cairns to Brisbane Found this cache on our adventure TB in: 3TB out: 1
Well, I was familiar with the information I needed as there was a previous? cache that I had done utilising the same clue. So I got that part sorted fairly readily and had some coordinates. As it happened today after a training seminar in the city I was literally walking back past GZ to get to the train and made a quick (and surprisingly large) find in the city. Enjoyed this urban beauty. TFTC!
Solved this a week or so before and on my way to the theatre tonight made a quick find. Thanks for placing.
#15285 10:40I took the metro to Sydney today for a visit to some of the new ALs, multis and virtual at the ANZAC memorial.First of the bat was this new Sidetracked which did not cause to many issues. Great hide, almost in plain view but well camouflaged.TFTC C62
Found this SideTracked multi while in town for the CITO event. Had no problem in locating the info needed and then went along to make the find. It was a nicely blended cache and gets a FP for the history and for it being SideTracked cache 213 for us. Thanks for this placement go to Calypso62.
Added this SideTracked cache to the list for the day with goingplaces2. No. 207 found in this series. Interesting cache page info. TFTC.
TFTC In the city to attend a CITO and finding a few other caches.Took some time to work out where we should be.Wow, a cache big enough for trackables.Visited trackables and added a favourite.
Found eventually, just which level. Left trackable to continue it's journey. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO
On my way to the COs CITO and got totally sidetracked with oldmorty.Nice hide. Just where I thought it would be.Thanks to Calypso62 for the multi.
I got side tracked on the way to the CO's CITO event held at Barangaroo and found this cache. TFTC
1 November 2024 I was messing about in Greece when this fine cache got published, and decided to make it my first find (hopefully) on my return. As expected, it did not disappoint.Thank you, Calypso62
I'm doing the $2.50 public transport thing again today and am now enjoying being a sightseer around this great city. First stop on my public transport journey was Barangaroo, and now I've walked over to, or should I say towards, Wynyard station for this SideTracked encounter. No need for me to go to the station itself, as I've visited the waypoint there at some point in the pas(I don'tremember when or why, but most likely for some geo-adventure), so I was able to do the calculations for GZ while on the train to Sydney. A straightforward find once I arrived at GZ, and again was left in awe of the CO's cache building capability. Thanks for this addition to the SideTracked series Calypso62 and for helping me to add to my SideTracked finds tally, which is now quickly approaching the century mark.
Gradually tidying up our city centre map. No issues here apart from deciding the correct level for the the final cache. Thanks.
Loved this cache. Finding the station office, reading about the first station master and then finding the cache. Great stuff.
#24912. It took a couple of minutes to locate the ticket office. We soon had some coords, and started heading in what we hoped was the right direction. When we popped out from underground we weren't too far from GZ, and once there the nicely hidden cache was quickly retrieved. TFTC.
A nice day of caching in the city. Good to have a weekday off!! Weather is certainly working with me.TFTC Wilbert67
StreetWalkerNZ and I arrived in Sydney last night, and the plan was to visit Cockatoo Island this trip. The forecast was for warm weather so we decided to head out after breakfast while it was still cool. Back from Cockatoo Island, it was time to do a bit more walking around central Sydney.Good to see a new multi in the CBD, this must have been published after we left NZ to visit Adelaide before coming to Sydney. We managed to follow instructions, and find ourselves at the final without getting lost - all SW's doing . He found the cache as well. Another nicely hidden urban cache too. Dropped off a TB. TFTC.
Visiting Sydney for four days to attend a conference. In between the schedule when I had free time, I picked up some labs and caches in the city that had cropped up since I was last in town earlier in the year. This was a rather large cache. I wasnt expecting it to be so big! Cheers Calypso62!
Out in the city with Calilou and we decided to find this one. It took a while to find the station office, but we found a map that directed us to it. We quickly solved it and we were on our way to the GZ. There with the good hint it was a quick find of the good contianer. Signed and replaced. TFTC
Not so sure I'll ever travel on Public Transport again. This cache was nearly the end of my caching life, and maybe my life full stop!!!Returning home from a SideTracked cache via train of course some crazy on the platform pushed me as the train pulled up, not quite stopped. I fell of course, not in "The Gap" but nearly. The platform guard who I'd been speaking to about platforms 1 and 2, and only came up to my shoulder, saw it all and came to help, not that at that height she'd have been much help. So watch out for crazies with pink hair and lots of piercings on their face, Keep Well Behind the Yellow Line and Hold On at all times!Back to the cache .......So I found the plaque and followed the directions. I've never been that way at this station. Walked around a bit to get to the right spot where luckily no muggles were around while I grabbed the cache. I could actually see it as I walked, wondering 'how do I get there'. After that I returned to ....... well thinking back now, how did I not drop my phone or Opal card down into The Gap? TFTC # 6276Love the history at this station, but no FPs today.
Lots of unnecessary pfaffing around for me on this one. I just made it hard on myself for lots of reasons. The cache was where it should be but I had a tour of Wynard as an added bonus. Thanks Calypso62 for another SideTracked cache and getting my stats back to the East Coast after a trip away.A favourite from me
Down from Newcastle to see an art exhibition. Thought I'd have a go at this multi while waiting. Found the plaque. Got the coords. Off for a little walk to find and sign the cache. Good start to the day.
I have a strong early childhood memory of being at one of Sydney's underground stations and seeing trams sitting opposite behind a paling fence. In later life I've wondered which station that was, thinking perhaps St James with its unused centre platforms that were subsequently filled in, but seeing the photo on the cache page of the Wynard tram with the train platform alongside behind a paling fence finally solved that mystery! What surprised me was reading that the tram terminus closed in1958, meaning I must have been only three (or perhaps just turned four) at the time. Strange that a mundane thing like that made such a lasting impression on my young mind.Anyway, roll on to today and, having been in North Sydney earlier for an appointment, I headed over to Wynyard, quickly found the plaque, got the coordinates from the checker and soon had the cache in hand, though I had to wait a bit to put it back as this seems to be a popular spot for office workers to sneak out for a smoke. Fortunately I wasn't down-wind of them. Many thanks for this informative cache.
Find #: 3,744Companions: NoneMuggles: Not reallyWeather: Cool spring eveningCache condition: GoodI had an event in the city and afterwards headed to Wynyard to catch the train home. What, 25 minute wait? Wait, there is a new geocache here! I headed to WP1, familiar from the previous (sadly short-lived) cache celebrating this station, and soon had the co-ords. I followed the pointer and was soon at GZ - LOL, I can see that spot from my office window! TNLNSL, then ambled back to the station, where I still had a 15 minute wait sigh. TFTC
Out into to City have a lunch with Financial Advisor along with she who must be obeyed . After a magnificent lunch at the Hilton made our way to posted coordinates to workout GZ . I do recall the plaque from working in the city . After making the checker happy we headed to where we needed to be in my day it used to be called the big house when the wharfies frequented being an early opener . I actually recall after his retirement Arthur Beatson used to manage it ! After a few minutes and following the perfect located the cache .I enjoyed the detail description of Wynyard, I place I frequent during my working career. TFTC Calypso62 deserves FP just for the excellent and research that went into this
[FTF] @ 7:08 AMSo I was just browsing new caches to find when I came across this. I remember the other cache but I was confused on the info that I needed to gather. Fortunately enough, I still had a photo of that plaque and was able to make the checker happy. The next morning, GeoLorikeet, GeoGooseAU and I teamed up to find this one. GeoGooseAU was familiar with the location so it was a quick find. We signed the log and took the prize package. We went inside Wynyard Station to explore the Interloop artwork which I think is very creative before heading home where we opened up the prize package and found some scratchies. The perfect prize for three. In total, we ended up winning $7 which is a nice bonus to this cache. Thanks for putting this one out and thanks for the prize. Some interesting history here.TFTC Calypso62(I owe you a FP for this one but I would like to keep my FP amount high so I never run out. I will give a FP when I get another one and when I do so, everything in these brackets will be deleted.)
OCW with EverestHigh and Brewmaker. Brought to attention lots of interesting facts and features at Wynyard Station. A well-made multi cache with a great cache placement at GZ. Last cache for the day and it certainly did not disappoint. Worth an FP. TFTC Calypso62 ??
After a long day out on the north side, we saw the latest Side Tracked entrant published. As we were passing by, we made a pit stop to gather the details, then it was off to GZ for a quick find. These sneaky City hides still astound me. You must spend lots of time canvassing the area to find these little locations. I swear you must be in cahoots with MrTFTC Sydney.I love the way they have blended the old with the new at Wynyard Station. I have got on and off trains here many times over the years. TFTC
GeoMonkeyAU solved this one last night so we got up early to get [FTF]. A quick find in a location familiar by GeoGooseAU. Some interesting history. TFTC Calypso62 and thanks for the prize (GeoMonkeyAU was so happy that he won!)
[FTF] @ 7:08 AM with GeoMonkeyAU and GeoLorikeet. GeoMonkeyAU solved this last night with a photo of the plaque from the other multi. Came here this morning very early by train. I used to work near Wynyard station so I was well familiar with the area. It was a quick find in a very familiar location.TFTC Calypso62 and thanks for the prize.
Wynyard Station and surrounding precinct was always a magical place for me as a teenager. It was exiting to explore Wynyard Arcade and other subterranean alleys leading to the smelly tunnels, statin entrances, and eventually platforms (I swear there must have been a Platform 9.75 there somewhere). I loved the Coin shops, Magic shops, Games shops, and variety of food vendors. A quick find on our way home today, as you can actually get a park in the city on Sunday arvo, and there is not much traffic. A definite Favourite Point for me!OCW MaxAdventurer and Brewmaker.
