Thanks to everyone for coming, this event has been a long time coming, third time was the charm . It was a really great to see soMany people turn up and I think everyone had a great time out on the water
#15290A nice event that was organised around the day of kayaking on the Colo River. After a good sleep we headed from our campground to the nearby starting point where 25 yaks and about 30 people came together for the start of our adventure. The weather was great, the river was gently flowing and the outgoing tide would help us from 8:15 onwards. So after dropping the kayaks we drove to Lower Portland for a car shuffle. After a group photo it was time to get underway! Thanks to the event!
Great to attend the Havoc comes to Colo event here and to join in on all the chatter of caching exploits. Great start to the day. Thanks Mighty Minions for organising
Really impressed with how many kayakers rocked up. Made for a great day on the Colo. Thanks for kicking things off with this event.
#8307Its finally time! The long awaited HAVOC Colo Kayaking Trip! After the event this morning, at 8am sharp the kayaks were on the water and we were off. A beautiful day for a paddle, and a nice series of caches and DTs!Permission to replace missing ones granted by the COs, and all logs being signed as HSC24 (Hunter Sydney Canberra 24) end of copy paste The event, and the paddle begins! Thanks for hosting Mighty Minions!
Find#2967The HAVOC geocachers are coming to Colo to complete an event and then a paddle. I was up at 430am to drive down the Putty road to attend. This was a great event although I feel like I spent more time preparing for the paddle than talking g to other caches. Thanks for organising the event MMTFTE Mighty Minions
Cache # 11527 on 9 Nov 2024This event being published was the impetus for some serious puzzle solving and planning by a few Canberra cachers to follow it up with a long paddle on the Colo River! TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and I had had these caches in our sights for a couple of years so this was the perfect opportunity to get ourselves organised! We joined with Loci612 to share accommodation and cars to get ourselves, our kayaks and cars to the right spots at the right time. We all took part in the group photo before launching ourselves onto the river for the better part of the day! Thank you Mighty Minions for hosting this event and helping us achieve our kayaking goal!
A huge thanks to HAVOC, especially Mighty Minions for publishing the event that was the catalyst for the Colo River adventure. That in turn gave rise to this event where there was a great turn out of cachers from near and far. TFTE SL
Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC.Today was a trip to Windsor, Sydney to join a group of cachers from Hunter, Sydney and Canberra to kayak the Colo River. Signing as HSC24 (HAVOC, Sydney & Canberra)Today was the big day with a large turnout of many cachers with many caches. There were some caches with signs of being swept away, one totally gone and quite a few in need of repair. The maintenance crew did a wonderful job.14 km later and we were finally at the end. What a long paddle.Finished off with dinner at Wismans Ferry with a few caches on the way there and back.A great start to a great day kayaking the Colo River.
A great event to start the day with lots of assistance to get everyone on the water. We started the day with a 40 minute drive, a mass kayak drop, car shuffle and an event. An early start to have us out on the river about 8am. Lots of Canberra caches taking advantage of the opportunity to join in on a paddle up the Colo River had made our way north to join in for the day. We signed as HSC24 (hunter, Sydney, canberra) for all our many people, and groups, almost 30 people. The tides were gentle and flowing with us. A beautiful river, calm, great bushland setting with the hills high about us and crazy, fascinating sandstone rock formations into the water by us.The caches were a mixed of finds. Easy generally but just the attachments, strings, or tops on occasion. Permission sort prior, to replace any needing maintenance that were clearly missing or in need of repair.A great day out on the water, shallow at times across sand backs and fish jumping. Great scenery, it was easier going than expected. The change of tide brought a calm stand still to the water and almost 14km and 5 hours later, a gentle tide change to paddle against which wasn't noticed and we made ut to our end spot.Quicker than expected to finish, off for some caches, shower, rest and then the dinner event at Wisemans ferry before a few caches on the way home. I'll sleep well tonight, but a great day. Thanks for the event!
This event was attended today and brings our overall cache find tally to 13733.After an early morning car swap we were were here a bit early readying our vessels. Lots of discussions about the day and some nervous energy but soon we were on our way! Thanks Mighty Minions for the event.
An early start to a fantastic day on the water. Water was calm, the sun was in and our of cloud cover.Picked up a good load of caches for my total. Thanks Mighty Minnons for the event really enjoyed and slept well that night.

A good turnout here this morning despite the early start. So many kayaks! Thanks Mighty Minions for the event!
#22985 @0730Over 20 kayakers and others gathered for this event before launching onto the river for a 6 hour paddle downstream to Lower Portland. A hive of activity and excitement as we unloaded and set up the kayaks and cars were shuffled to the end point. TFTE.
Attended with minniek and - wow - so many other Cachers, most of which went out on the water for the days adventure.Up nice and early at the camp ground. After a quick pack up we headed down to here for the kayak prep and the event. The energy could be felt this morning - everyone looking forward to a great day on the water. After getting ready and the event photo was taken, it was launch time. My thanks to Mr Googlehihihi for helping everyone launch without issue. Thanks for the event and organising everything Mighty Minions !!
Wow, What an event and what a day we had! I've uploaded all 7 of the photos I took from the day. It was a mammoth effort from everyone involved to tackle this Paddle trail and some other kayak caches too. A massive shout out to Kathy from Mighty Minions and all others who were involved in creating such a memorable caching experience, where I am sure that the memories created here will be shared and retold for years and years to come.
According to my phone app, I am parked 3m from GZ ... so even if I sleep in, I will be here - lolIf I am not awake/up and about when the event starts, or earlier if you are here, feel free to knock on the window and wake me up - lol
So, the latest weather forecast for Saturday is Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Winds south to southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h shifting northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h during the afternoon. With a top of 28 Cthe event photo will be taken at 7.45am and hopefully anyone wishing to join us for the kayak will be ready for an 8.05am launch. We will be launching from the timber Jetty, right in front of the event site.
Will be there. Can we get clarification on where we are putting the boats/kayaks in?
Thanks Mighty Minions for hosting an event here for us all to enjoy as we head off on a crazy adventure. See you there!
I am a definite maybe ... have kayak, planning on paddling, but I will have to juggle/cancel a couple of other things in my diary, and organise myself enough to make it there, from here in Canberra
Have organised my diary and will be able to attend for the day. Looking forward to it
After checking the tides and discussing with a few other Cachers, I have decided to start the event a little earlier to take advantage of the tides and give people more time on the water, I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Myself and Madrabbitoh, aboard the SS Divorce shall be there. Will be camping Friday and Saturday night, looking for an early start Saturday.
Sounds like a fun event - count me in I think there will be a bunch of Canberra cachers planning to make a weekend of it. Thanks for organising Mighty Minions??
