A quick find on the way to tbe Highland Festival in Bothwell. All 4'kids' were hungry so I went to find this cache. The younger 2 came to help but I'd spotted it before they got there.Looking forward to chipping away at the rest of the highway caches.
My phone was all over the place here and just didnt settle so had a wander along the curb until I spotted what I was looking for. TFTC ??
G'day Tas_Geo, thanks for the cache.En route home this arvo after an HWC amble from Oatlands to Parattah and back!12 of us stopped hereabouts for a leg stretch, a comfort break, and a coffee, milkshake or similar.I was encouraged by Lil Rafa to find this one while we were here.I wandered over with an ever-interested muggle friend to make the find - which did take a little longer than it should, even though I was looking for the correct container. Then to rub NaCl into the wounds, I didn't have a pen - most unusual. So muggle D walked back to the car to fetch one.All is well at GZ.Cheers,EPs ??
As we had an unexpected trip south yesterday, we took the opportunity to look for caches in the recently published Highway 1 series. Yesterday we looked for the caches as we headed south - today we looked for caches on the other side of the highway as we headed north. This is an excellent series with well designed caches placed thoughtfully and with safe parking very close by. There were some interesting cache containers, with one particular style we hadn't seen previously - a great design used in a number of hides. Unless stated otherwise, coordinates were accurate (within 5m) and the caches were in good condition. The CO's, quite rightly, have included a very important warning about walking from one side of the highway to the other. It would be remiss of us not to add another. *In some places there are U-turn bays which allow safe access to a cache on the other side of the highway. However, once on the other side, the same access cannot be used safely nor legally to return to the original direction of travel - instead backtracking in the direction opposite of your intended travel is necessary before resuming your original direction of travel.* If possible, the caches are best tackled by looking for those on the side of the road you are travelling, not the other side of the highway. Yesterday we travelled south and were able to find 17 without crossing the highway. Today we looked for the other 16 tomorrow as we travelled north.**As soon as we saw the location, we were confident what we were looking for. Quite a deal of traffic at this location during our visit. We had to widen the search area and finally found the cache 8m from the published coordinates - and it was what we suspected.**Thanks Tas_Geo for this cache and the very enjoyable series.
A new series of caches on the Midland Highway published in the week before I was heading north for the 'Hobart Show Day' long weekend - nice one. With the GeoGSP's loaded in the car, today we headed north.Approached GZ for this one with dread, but in the end spotted the cache after a short search! Log signed and placed the cache back in it's place.
Thanks Tas_Geo for placing Moody Blues Highway 1 (Tasmania). Swampy and I headed back to plunder more of the Northern coast over the Hobart Show long weekend. 4 day long weekend for 1 days annual leave. Sweet. This is day 1. Hobart to Devonport via the central highlands. This run has us finding both GC and GCA caches. So many caches, so little time. This is my GC find #2096 and was found on 24/10/2024 at 06:54FTF: Found with: SwampyWeather: fairMuggles: noneLight level: goodCache condition: goodDistance from GZ: Your cache was visited by my trackables: TB9QQD2, TB9KZ39 and TB7HH81
Hi Tas_Geo. Today we found your cache on the Devo trip for the year. VK7HCH and I hatched yet another plan to whip it up to the north to continue our plundering of caches both GC and GCA. As there are so many caches in this area we had freedom of choice to do those we wished to. We have solved a few puzzles so we can find those and lots of others. Although I didnt find the girl U want, the caches were enough. Its a beautiful world here in Tassie. Thanks for hiding the cache for us to find today. Finding this cache takes my GC finds to 5160 and I found it on Thursday 24 Oct 2024FTF: NoMates: VK7HCHMuggles: Condition: GoodWeather: slightly cloudyMy favorites:Creative - Back to the future 1 by peaches (GCA5JYD)Hardest - Men in Black Holes by SG-3 (Archived)Most visited - Dragons Lair by Shagzter (GC2E33)Tractable also visited your cache
Message received from seasoned Geocachers stating the cache is missing, disabling until we can investigate.
Its probably there but there are so many rocks its like a needle in a haystack. 3 sets of eyes today and with muggles arriving we gave up!!!
**FTF** @2:45pm4th visit for male membsec and eventually Lady membsec and grandson finally found what we wanted! We found the clever cache around 6-7m from our GZ which normally would be fine but not when all you can see are rocks! Lady membsec had a fall but the grandson helped her getup! TFTC
Coordinates changed from:S 42 30.833 E 147 11.292Coordinates changed to:S 42 30.834 E 147 11.295Distance from original: 14.8 feet or 4.5 meters.Due to feedback from the First To Find about the poor quality of coordinates and hint I have updated the coordinates to an average of the readings taken at ground zero instead of a median, hint is also now verbose, also put the Difficulty rating up at their suggestion.
