51 E.N.F.O.R.C.E.E.R.S picked up around 500kg from around the Whangarei Aquatic Centre.360kg of rubbish and approximately 140kg of recycling and salvage.Whangarei aquatic center wanted to host a clean up around their facility and reached out to us. We based ourselves around the back of the facility where the old car park used to be. Slowly more and more people came out of the woodwork and soon we had used up all of our highvis vests. We spread out directly around the facility, along the boardwalk, around the mangroves, down the roads, and even over to Hatea Drive across the bridge. The F.O.R.C.E. team stuck around the main area to help sort out the items as they were brought back to help get the volunteers back out. Kori the penguin also turned up to help clean up around the building. Some interesting finds today were a mattress, bike frame, lots a of car parts including a steering wheel and two wheels, steaming pot, toilet brush holder, pair of boots, a kids floatation ring full of air, liscence plates and a live Australian winged weta. 3 shopping trolleys, planks of wood, sheets of metal, and some pallets.Next clean up will be on January 11th at 10am on Owhiwa Road, Parua Bay.
Made it back across the little ditch just in time for this one. Teamed up with Lis's crew to discuss future plans, whilst picking up any rubbish we could find.Thx Nick & Karen for organising.
Well it was great to be able to attend this clean up today. My crew today consisted of Daniel, Hayden, Fiona and myself. A great family turnout.I set off with fellow geocacher 0B80B8 to discus our hobby and try to set up some future trip plans while picking up rubbish. Ewing Road was very clean but we ended up getting quite a lot on Vale Road. Afterwards the kids and I headed into the Aquatic Centre for a BBQ and a swim for the others. Thanks to the sponsors for the BBQ and free pool entry. Also thanks to the FORCE team for their dedication to keeping the city clean
