After an awesome day kayaking down the Colo River, it was great to have a cold beer and a good meal at the Wiseman Inn. 25 or so geocachers attended so a great social time was had with the amazing backdrop of the cliffs above the Hawkesbury river, with the late afternoon golden light, contrasting the vivid purple Jacaranda flowers. TFTE
The big HAVOC kayaking trip is over and we are all rather weary. It was so good to meet up here and enjoy the beautiful view, the great company and the scrumptious food. Thanks for organising this event EverestHigh
It was great to see so many friendly cachers at this event today. What a great meal and views and company. Thanks for organising EverestHigh
In Sydney for the weekend, so after my conference finished this afternoon I jumped in the car to attend this event. Was great to meet up and have a meal with a lovely group of cachers, hearing of the adventures on the water today. Ive never been to Wisemans Ferry, and I was surprised at how pretty the area is. I hope to come back one day to walk the convict trail on the other side of the river. Thanks for holding this event
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend BO'C now.I've spent a great day in the Hawkesbury (and managed a couple of cache finds too) but sadly it is the end of an era as our leader is moving to FNQ. So we have changed our farewell times and it's not possible to make it to Wiseman's now.Have a drink for me.
Great to attend the Beer O'Clock #33 - Wisemans Ferry event here and to join in on all the chatter of todays Colo River caching exploits. Such a wonderful day with an awesome bunch of people from Canberra and Sydney. Thanks EverestHigh for organising this event so we can recoup some energy. Enjoyed a yummy Angus rump, one of the best Ive had in a long while. Great choice ??
#8365Its finally time! The long awaited HAVOC Colo Kayaking Trip! After the event this morning, at 8am sharp the kayaks were on the water and we were off. A beautiful day for a paddle, and a nice series of caches and DTs!Permission to replace missing ones granted by the COs, and all logs being signed as HSC24 (Hunter Sydney Canberra 24) end of copy paste Finished the paddling early and still have plenty of time, so some caching is certainly in order for a little while.Final for the day, maybe. Great event, nice food and cold drinks. TNLN SLThanks for placing and maintaining this cache EverestHigh
#8365With bugs in plague proportions at camp (I've never seen anything like it before), any excuse to head out for dinner was welcomed! So after getting up at 5am for a quick breakfast and kayak drop off/vehicle switcheroo, and then paddling for 6 hours, then caching another 2 hr, we drove an hour for dinner.... it was nice though, if the service strained and very slow.TFTE!
Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC.Today was a trip to Windsor, Sydney to join a group of cachers from Hunter, Sydney and Canberra to kayak the Colo River. Signing as HSC24 (HAVOC, Sydney & Canberra)Today was the big day with a large turnout of many cachers with many caches. There were some caches with signs of being swept away, one totally gone and quite a few in need of repair. The maintenance crew did a wonderful job.14 km later and we were finally at the end. What a long paddle.Finished off with dinner at Wismans Ferry with a few caches on the way there and back.Another nice group get together for dinner.
A great location for dinner. The food was really good and the outlook from the deck relaxing. Great way to end the day.We started the day with a 40 minute drive, a mass kayak drop, car shuffle and an event. An early start to have us out on the river about 8am. Lots of Canberra caches taking advantage of the opportunity to join in on a paddle up the Colo River had made our way north to join in for the day. We signed as HSC24 (hunter, Sydney, canberra) for all our many people, and groups, almost 30 people. The tides were gentle and flowing with us. A beautiful river, calm, great bushland setting with the hills high about us and crazy, fascinating sandstone rock formations into the water by us.The caches were a mixed of finds. Easy generally but just the attachments, strings, or tops on occasion. Permission sort prior, to replace any needing maintenance that were clearly missing or in need of repair.A great day out on the water, shallow at times across sand backs and fish jumping. Great scenery, it was easier going than expected. The change of tide brought a calm stand still to the water and over 14km and 5 hours later, a gentle tide change to paddle against which wasn't noticed and we made ut to our end spot.Quicker than expected to finish, off for some caches, shower, rest and then the dinner event at Wisemans ferry before a few caches on the way home. I'll sleep well tonight, but a great day. Thanks for the event and fun!
I was so tired after the huge day of kayaking that i did not think I would make this event but after a shower and a relax, Lee kindly offered to drive me and I am glad he did, it was nice to relax and enjoy a meal after such an epic day. Thanks for hosting the event EverestHigh
#23040 @1800After a 6 hours paddle on the Colo River with over 20 kayakers (accompanied by others in a saftey boat - thanks boot65), it was home for a shower and a bit of relaxation before heading to this event to celebrate our day. A lovely meal, good company and lovely views. TFTC.
Hoping to be there in person at the end of a long day.... Thanks EverestHigh for organising.
While I'm not sure if I'm joining in for the kayak activities, who doesn't love a beer o'clock, and I've noticed a different bunch of people at this one, so why not.
If I can make it up here for the kayaking, then I will definitely enjoy a beer and some food, and the other sort of yacking that I also like to do
Now that will fit in perfectly with my other hobby which is also out in the Hawkesbury on that date.Looking forward to it.
We'll come - if we can get there in time after kayaking all day..... which I think might be wishful thinking.....
Sounds like a fun event and I will be looking forward to a meal after a day of paddling on the Colo River. Thanks for organising EverestHigh??
Intending to attend, will need a hearty something after a day on the river, thanks for organising EverestHigh
I think I will most defiantly need a nice cold drink after kayaking on the Colo that day and will enjoy a meal as well. Thanks for hosting EverestHigh
I will deserve some cool refreshments and a warm meal after hard days work. I won't paddle the yak all the way from Bielany on the Colo to Wisemans Inn at Wisemans Ferry though.I look forward to the gathering of Central Coast, Newcastle, Sydney and Canberra geocachers. Ev.
I must have had a similiar thought to Everst, but there arent any caches on that leg, so might as well drive. I hope to be off the water, showered and refreshed, to attend.
