fantastic spot with lots of old history, sad to see that its now archived, would be great if some can think of a new cache to put near here as its well worth the trip

Visited this spot today, in the rain. It certainly made for an interesting trip to photo the specified graffiti. Absolutely fantastic location, even in the wet.
Thank you very much for showing this intersting spot! E-Mail will be sent as soon as receival will be possible!
From previous logs it is a waste of time e-mailing this info so we've just got to hope we're right. What a pity all the information boards along this track have either been removed or have been vandalised. We visited this place late last year before we knew of the existence of geocaching!!!
Found on a scout training camp from the nearby Carnacoo Camp site.
The walk to this site was probably the highlight of the weekend but then I am a history buff.
Just imagine sailing a boat up this inlet to the mill......There is some much older graffiti in Devonport than this though...in the order of tens of thousands of years done by much earlier settlers......
Didn't get an email reply....

It is worth a visit for the scenery, the flour mill and shipping history
The grafitti is certainly lasting through the ages, but is showing signs of wearing away [^]
When you find it the cache name all of a sudden makes sense, Ah ha!!
TFTC Animal Cachers, where ever you are ....

Well, I'm going to claim a find even though it looks like the owner is an ex-cacher, with the "send message" feature on their profile page having been disabled.
Despite some fairly heavy recent rains, I managed to find the graffiti. Mind you, I think that some other Australians might be able to lay claim to some earlier carvings by a few tens of thousands of years...

V cool our first find! Thought the GPS was wrong on location then looked down.
AH ha. There it is! Was out and about so just looked at the closest cache, surprised to find it, as we hadn't check the type of cache.

found this one a while ago and have been unsuccessful in contacting the owners emails just seem to go unanswered, so am logging as a find,
Really enjoyed walk in, but river was flowing too fast
to attempt find. will return. thanks.

I have tried to contact the owners with the answer, but it keeps on bouncing and I see they have not logged to Geocaching.com since March 2006. So I am logging it as a find. TFTC
Found the site by accident - I was looking elsewere for the graffiti, and slipped. Took off and stepped on it. Lovely Place. Scotch Oakburn Grammar used to bring their students here for swimming some years ago. Most of the smaller signs have been vandalised, so had some trouble getting the information of the graffiti writer - tried both Yahoo and TAS Museum and was unsuccessful, but was redirected to try google, and it worked. Thanks for redirecting me Mimi
Found this one a while ago (21st) but have yet to hear back from Animal Cachers so am logging it in anticipation before I forget ...
This was a great cache location - with most interesting history attached, both on site and on the Internet, needed to complete the answer. Silly me spent too much time looking where I presumed it would be though, without reading the notes properly - after a bit more reading though it was a quick find.
Also found that Tas leaches are as friendly as WA ticks!
Thanks very much for a most rewarding experience, AC

Given the all clear from Animal Cachers. This is a brilliant cache..steeped in history..this is what makes caching such a great experience.Never been to this site before..knew a little about Supply River.Got to GZ..GPSr was wanting me to cross river...I think this was the nasty streak coming out of my electronic friend...as crossing river..very treacherous indeed..kept looking..finally spotted. To future cachers..YOU DON'T need to cross river..coords in the end were pretty good.
Loved every minute of this cache..researching full name etc...learned quite a lot. This cache would be in top 5 out of over 200 visited so far..well done guys.TFTE(excellent)Cache. Cheers Animal Cachers

YREAAAAH!!!
after a day trip to let, She who must be obeyed, see sea horses and other "SOOooo Cute" little things and taking her north to see across the water (she was getting home sick by this stage)to see the Real Australia!!we set off back to the hotel. But I had to diverted: now this is where it gets troubling---: we divert into a road called 'Deviot'that led to a village called Deviot. She who must be obeyed really got worried at this stage, wot wif a town nearby, called, and travelling on AND with a Deviot she decided it might be safer to stay in the car (and lock the doors) whilst i went huntin'.
wot's dat sowned in der up der criick? do it sowned lik Banjos???
anyways after traipsin' up the track and passin' a young couple with (?) worried looks on their faces that stated "you can ask the Strange Lady up there!!!"
SoO what, with, a little trepidation i advanced to the ruins , whereupon i saw a youngish lady, redressing and asking her dragon-er dog (if you saw the size of the HHHound!!!)to "WATCH HIM". So now with A LOT OF TREPIDATION i complimented her on her... er..beutiful
dog, creek, ruins, anything that said "Nice Man, hmmm no threat"
so , as a clever Geocacher i throw a log for the dr..dog to chase. i ask her has she "ever heard of ancient scratchings, Aboriginal markings so-on in the area, as i was an historian" "No" she says "only the Grafitti near here"
So after her DOG returns with a ?matchstick size piece of wood "GoodDawg Pooch ..where is the log?"Pregnant pause..... "Oh thats what's left, funny how petrified wood is soo soft????"
Anyway thanks for the cache and i needed an excuse to buy more underwear anyway

Wow - fantastic cache guys! The history was fun, the walk was lovely, no wonder cache site was a favourite picnic area ( the new tables are in the carpark ) however the ambience at falls so excellent at 6pm we were passed by a tripod toting photographer. Will bring team back for fishing, without TB Neville the bewildered fish, and a picnic supper.
Answer emailed, waiting.
Took the pleasant walk up the trail and who should I find there?
Hingrock seem to have stayed there and has called this place home - see photo.
Thanks TAC

Found on a lovely day of caching in the West Tamar area.
Really enjoyable walk and the history lesson was very interesting.
Thanks Animal Cachers

This was the eighth one for the day, and again another one I ought not to have attempted. Luckily some prior knowledge gave me a very rough idea where to be looking, and sent Jon in whilst I sat on the side. (Jon is . Still took him about 20 minutes.
An absoloutely fascinating piece of history - I love this stuff and there should be more of it.
Interesting that it has a XXXXXXXX link - my rellies (first fleet) were linked to that. Would love to say more, but don't want to make it easier for others.
Thanks TAC - again!

What a sensational idea for a cache. The cache location was interesting but the story aroung the grafitti was fantastic.

Took my wife with me this time and soon found it. Quite amazing that it was still there after 200 years or so.
Even the local historians didnt know it was there or even who it was. So I educated them. This certainly is a loveley spot and well maintained. worth the visit just to see it.
Thanks animal cachers,
Robtas

Another pleasant walk, and then a mad scramble at the end. It looks like the grafitti will still be there in another hundred years.
Absolutely beautiful area, and we can log this with minimal injuries! Fantastic cache - great spot and bit of history as well. Thanks Animal Cachers!
A beautiful walk, with lots of interesting history along the way.
This is an intriguing cache and an absolute must-do for all cachers.

Busy Day, was our 3rd cache in the afternoon.
I'm a local, so I'd seen the 'grafitti' before (many times)..
Went there anyhow. Was a beautiful day and this is one of our fav. walks from our house (<2km away).
Have looked up the info on the net for verification of what I thought the intitials were for.
Nice one Animals!!

Second for the day as very windy and wet. Bit wet at GZ but found the initials. After a bit of research on the computer after arriving home I learnt a bit more Australian history.
Thanks Animal Cachers, again.

This was a pleasant outing with lots of history, finding the answer uncovered even more about our early settlement.

Verified.
Winners of the first Sydney to Hobart yacht race were lost on their journey. They called in here for provisions and left their mark.
I have seen similar aged graffiti on the pyramids and in the valley of the kings. > If we did it today there would be a hefty fine. It’s a thin line between history and vandalism.
And those clues. Just perfect.

Brilliant cache. The best virtual I have done. It took me over two hours on the net to find the answer. Have applied to the Animal helpline for confirmation.
It being the driest November on record I had no trouble at the cache location.

Thanks for an interesting cache. With help from an 'old' local, and a bit more on the internet, the question was answered.
Great cache to find! Lots of history and scenery here! The hardest bit is your homework - finding who the first grafity artist was... Walk in was great, as was the entire area there!
Arrived at 4.30 pm to find GZ seriously under water but with a little guesswork and some investigation Biggles Bear provided an answer that satisfied Animal Cachers. The walk was most enjoyable and as with many caches we would not have visited this location but for the lure of finding another cache. Thanks Animals.
Well its another great location but the water was running so fast and I was (probably wisely) told I wasn't allowed to go throught the water to get it. I'll have to leave it for another time.
First cache for the day, Dufus nearly went for a swim but reconciddered. UpDate It seems that the name I found wasnt Bugger

This is a great virtual cache - I learned a lot and had a good walk. It was harder than I thought because there was two lots of grafitti only 2.5 to 3 m apart, I couldn't find any information about the first person, so I thought it had to be the second person
Went with Caching Kid to do this one. Fascinating spot and lots of history. The graffiti is something I would have never noticed without the cache, and certainly I would not have bothered to find out about whomever had written it.
Thanks Animals ( and many many apologies for the extremely tardy logging of this cache on gc.com .

What a great cache! We took a short walk down memory lane (or history creek to be exact) to see the usual decaying ruins. Following our GPS exactly, we found ourselves slipping over wet slimy rocks until we asked ourselves: If we were going to write some century-old graffiti, where would we write it? And thus we found it. Our additional research was hampered by an unusual additional research hamperer, but once we used our additional research hamperer overcomer, we said Ah-ha! This cache really made history come alive for us... thanks Animals!

I'm not known to have a love for virtual caches but this one helped warm me to their ilk. An excellent cache Animals, in fact I'd have to say out of the 11 geocaches I've found so far this has to be the most enjoyable - perfect choice of terrain/difficulty, a good choice of subject with both local and historical significance. I won't say anymore lest I give away too much information for future cachers. Well done and thank you Animals!
