A beautiful walk in to this cache. Love these areas of Sydney.A day trip to Sydney with AngelG and TikvaNZ. With the news that the have impending archive hovering over them, it was a good incentive to go. One, in Parramatta I have had my eye on for a long time, and it was indeed, worthwhile. Got to love a wall of shale! We started the morning with a puzzle TikvaNZ had in his solve. An unexpected but always welcomed FTF. Many birds to be seen, black cockatoos are always cool, a weird parrot I've not seen before and the wrens are a favourite of mine.A few short walks, good 'ole Sydney traffic and a leach festival on our boots! Avenging a DNF for AngelG, we had prior warning of the leaches, 8 for me there, 9 total with another on the way out. But we all got to share in the fun of the leaches!A yummy dinner to round out the day before the trip home. A good full day with caching as our guide, thanks for your cache!
#22183 @1410AngelG was keen to grab some earthcaches in Sydney, along with some specific DTs and counties. I agreed to join her, as there was a specific DT that I also needed. Aquilus1 also joined us for the adventure. A pleasant wander to GZ. Then the searching began as per the hint. Aquilus1 ended up finding the cache in a spot I had looked, but obviously not well enough. With signing duties completed, we checked for leeches, and we all had some with Aquilus1 having nearly 2 handfuls. TFTC.
Cache # 11293 on 18 May 2024After sadly discovering The Spindoctors earthcaches were in danger of being archived, TikvaNZ, Aquilus1 and I decided to head to Sydney today to grab them. It was the only weekend that suited all of us for the next month! We grabbed a few other caches along the way, but today was about quality, not quantity! This cache was on my must do list after DNFing it last year. Last cache needed for my Ausmer challenge, love the old caches!! A pleasant walk to GZ, with the rain mostly holding off. With a very specific hint, we managed to find it in good time, but not so quickly that we became prey to leeches again! After safely returning the cache to its hiding place, we unloaded the leeches, I flicked 3 off my shoes and feet, TikvaNZ removed 1 and Aquilus1 removed 8 (and another one later on)! Then a steady walk back to the car. Thank you Geocaching NSW for maintaining this old cache and the fun!
I had to be in north Sydney today for another reason so drove up with Bobl27 a bit earlier to try and grab this 2002 cache, the last one I needed for my Ausmer. Parked at the end of Kitchener street and made my way to GZ along the maintenance trail and then a smaller foot pad, both easy going. But after 15 mins of looking, I could not lay a hand on the cache. Damn it! After some exchanges with Caching NSW afterwards, I realise where I went wrong. Sigh. At least I will have a better understanding of where to look next time I am up from CBR. On the other hand, I did find three leaches while searching, one of which I brushed off on my way back to the car, another one which fell off in the car while I was changing my footwear and another one which only fell off on the floor of the place I was visiting afterwards, as fat at as it could be. My leg did not stop bleeding some some time afterwards, much to my embarrassment. Next time I will take some salt and be much more vigilant! Thanks for taking of this old cache Geocaching NSW and thanks for placing The 2 dogs- I will be back!!

This was my target cache for today as I am charged with maintenance on this old 2 Dogs cache for Geocaching NSW.
I had read the logs that the outer container had disintegrated but wasn't real sure about the inner container. I had brought a new, more sturdy cache container but as it turns out, it wasn't needed as the inner container was in excellent condition.
It does concern me that this cache was just lying in the foliage, about 12m from the track, with no protection of any sort around it. I did find a great spot for a cache under an old fallen tree that would be a better fit. I'll check with GCNSW to see if it should be moved slightly.
All in all, the cache is in great condition and ready for the next finder.

OCW Calypso62 to check on this 'The 2 Dogs'.
It was a lovely walk to GZ in an area I have not walked before.
We soon located the cache and signed the log.
C62 picked up the outer container that had fallen apart.
We left the inner container and recovered.
It was great to collect another 'The 2 Dogs' cache.

Came to this area because I specifically wanted this cache for my Ausmer/Jasmer.
I parked at the end of Kitchener St and followed the fire trail in.
From the map it looked like the cache would be on the other side of the creek. Luckily as I got closer I realised I would be on the right side. Discovered the cache not far from the main track. As previous finders have noted, the outer container is smashed but the inner container is still good.

I was going to find this cache and do some maintenance for GCNSW. Beginning the walk, I noticed the terrain I would need to traverse. Down, down, down then up, up, up. Then there's the return journey. I had limited time today as I needed to be in Mount Colah for my grandson's Aussie Rules game. I decided to leave this one when I had more time. I'll be back.
I was awake early so decided to go for a walk and find this cache before parkrun. I took the longer but less steep trail in, it was still quite wet from the rain last night.
As I neared GZ I headed off track and was headed to one spot when I spotted it right next to my feet just off the foot pad. Glad I didn’t have to go digging around in the foliage!
The outer container is cracked but the inner container is fine. Signing duties done then headed back out. Had to flick a couple of free-loading leeches off my shoes in the way out.

ZQX and I were in Sydney for some puzzle series collections and for some other valuable caches. Following a successful find at #1 Frog Hollow, this one was on our list as another oldie. We parked nearby and followed the easy trail to gz, where we spotted the cache. As per previous logs, the outer container is in need of replacement, but the inner container is in good condition, preserving the logbook from dampness. TFTC T2D
Fox in Jox and I headed to Sydney for the weekend for some caching. We had thrown together a plan during the previous week, and despite it's lack of maturity and detail, it worked out perfectly. On Saturday we joined Team Novo for a trip in his tinny, and on Sunday we zigzagged all over the upper North Shore. Our aim was to collect solved puzzles. I had solved all the X-files and some of the Random Destinations before our plan came together. After we had a plan, there was more furious solving to knock over the last few. And as we discovered at RD7, we had a bit more to do to get over the line. I collected 19 caches on the weekend, including 13 solved puzzles and 3 golden oldies. FIJ dropped me home after 8:30 on the Sunday night, and I slept the sleep of a very tired person.
At GZ I spied the cache. As has already been noted, the outer container is looking pretty sad and needs some TLC soon. Also, the cache was quite exposed when we found it, so it won't be long before the inner container is cactus as well. "Help me Calypso62, you're my only hope." says the cache.

Found it straight away as it lying in the open. Outer container is broken. Replaced it slightly better but it seems like animals may be getting the better of it. TFTC
I'm keeping an eye on some of the 2 Dogs caches.
I'll put this one on my list for a maintenance run to replace the container.

Didn't realise it was the cache the first time, so I did a couple extra days of gz... Tftc
Triumphant at GZ. This is a jasmer spot filler for me today and the main reason for visiting the area! Not too hard to find though I’m sure in 20 years the area changed since the cache was originally placed. I was pleasantly surprised with the walking tracks round here. TFTC
Found on a walk through the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, thanks for the cache!
Great first geo-cache with the whole family and expert caching cousin!! (Roo_and_tribe)
hint didn't really help, even in retrospect, but eventually found it on the ground a bit off path
Find 625 for the tribe.
Out this way celebrating a birthday with a local who is a top bloke, who suggested a wander down this way but never knew there was a cache down here. A lovely bushwalk along variable terrain including a bit of mud, and a beautiful creek had us arrive at GZ.
Replacement cache is in great condition with plenty of room in the log book. TNLNSL.
Phantom falls nearby to here is well worth a visit.

Very happy to snag this cache which has been on my radar for quite a while. Always great to get an oldy and fill an empty spot on Month/Year grid.
A nice walk down from the end of Kitchener St, with a few boggy areas, which had me worried about a potential creek crossing according to my device.
No need for concern, no creek crossing and the log was found within a baggee, also within a bagee, inside a container, inside another container! Thanks to all for looking after this old girl. Log was pristine. TFTC! ps. Be aware the hint is from 20 yrs ago and not everything lasts the test of time. Co-ords are accurate.

Followed on from the Wildflower Gardens. The 2 Dogs cache always seem to be excessively challenging for me - the old style hides always get me.
Today a short bash off the track and reached a few interesting areas. Was focussed on one spot way too long, but noting a photo in a previous log, found the cache in a much more simple spot in the open.
Great to be able to find this one and thanks to the cachers for putting the replacement inner container so this oldie can continue!

Some bush bashing required, but found it! First container is broken, but cache was safe and dry inside another. TFTC!
With this well inside our limit for exercise I managed to head out for a late afternoon walk. When I first saw it I was worried the container was broken, but it turned out there was a brand new container inside. All is dry and well with this cache. A lovely little walk on a pleasant afternoon. Took a TB. TFTC.

Weather: Lovely winter morning
Cache condition: Good
I was out for a jog in the area, and this was less than 300m out of my way; I approached from Kitchener, so it was a fairly easy approach. Lots of people were out walking on a lovely sunny lockdown morning, but no-one was around while I searched, and once at GZ it didn't take long to get CIH - TNLNSL. I then headed up the hill to the main trails of the Garden, very familiar from parkrun. TFTC

Daytrip to Sydney with fitzy_1965 and albida33.
The main aim of today was to get Ruff and Tumble as I needed it for my Jasmer. Headed down and down and down....lots of leaves over the stairs made it rather slippery. Was easy going once at the bottom. Fairly easy find once at GZ....fitzy_1965 replaced the old container which had seen better days.
Glad to knock this one off.....now to go back up!

Canberra Day Long weekend Day 1. Sydney. After a weekend trip to Sydney last weekend there was an old cache we wanted to visit, so another trip was scheduled for today. I was joined by Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK for a day trip this time. We started with the GPP-G caches near Penrith before heading to Kuringai National park for a walk for three caches and a bonus Community Event in Frenchs Forest. The day ended with a fun multi near Manly. Then the dash home again for two more busy days of caching out of Canberra.
The second part of our day was a walk to three caches in this reserve. A challenging descent and a difficult climb to get back. The old cache Ruff & Tumble was the main target. Fitzy replaced the container, so I hope it has a long future. This was a quick stop on the way down the long way.
Thanks for the cache The 2 Dogs

23,749. Found with minniek and albida33 during a day trip up to Sydney for some quality caching.
After having an enjoyable weekend in Sydney last weekend, and seeing another Community Celebration Event happening, the three of us decided to head back up to Sydney, grab a series of puzzle caches we'd solved in Penrith, find and replace a damaged very old cache, the attend the event. This was the next find of the day. After finishing the puzzles in Penrith we headed up here to replace Ruff and Tumble, as Loci612 had let us know it needed some TLC. We arrived here after Mr Rock. We quickly found the soaking wet old cache containers and logs. We had pre-prepared a nice dry replacement container and log, which we signed, along with dropping a few TBs and a couple of our Pathtags. Re-hid the cache with some better weather protection, then headed off to the next one.
Thanks The 2 Dogs !!

I'm aiming to visit this cache next weekend and will replace what needs replacing. Container, logbook etc...
Unlike the other 2 Dogs cache with a rare hidden month in this area (#1 Frog Hollow), this cache was unfortunately completely ruined. I wish I had of known prior to coming up from Canberra as it would have been awesome to be able to replace it, but I was not prepared. I sincerely hope the next finder see's this log and brings a replacement container + logbook to keep this rare Australian hidden month cache in play! (both current containers need to be disposed of, keeping the old container is probably what dimished the replacements condition as well by sitting it inside)
I decided to come the shortest route today, I knew it would be harder than coming from the Management Trail, but still prefer shorter over flatter
So parked at the Visitor Centre and headed down the "Mueller Track" from there. The sign rates it as "Hard" but it really isn't that hard, just a bit steep, but there is rock steps the whole way and a defined trail, not very long either!
Soon got to the bottom of that track, and completed the walk along the flat track to the cache.
Not only was the container ruined as described, but even the "rotting hollow" as described in the hint is no more. I guess if it was rotting 20 years ago, that isn't a surprise! It is basically just a pile of decayed mush now
Hopefully this can be replaced, and maybe moved a bit closer to the listed coordinates as they did seem to be slightly off, and it took me 10 minutes to find.
Thanks 2 Dogs! Great to find this after having it on my must-do list for many years!

After a lengthy search, found. Container is broken and everything inside is damp. Didn’t sign.
Geo son left phone somewhere here yesterday so had to come back again. Figured we might as well frab the caches we didn't. Also did the Mueller track today. Awesome walk. TFTC
Trying to find some Jasmer/Ausmer caches today, and man this one looked SO close on the map to the other ones around the Wildflower Garden. Zooming in and looking and the changes in elevation shows that this cache isn't a park and grab . Indeed I'd parked outside the garden and I was a bit worried about the car being locked in if I was back late. So down, down, down, all the steps, knowing I'd have to make my way but up them. And I had a tumble too, a large rick sloped just enough, covered with a fine layer of sand, and my feet disappeared from beneath me. Abraded my palms/wrists a little, but not so bad really. More like a gentle skin exfoliation ha! Eventually found the cache - woo hoo! But it wasn't in the best condition. The inner container had water in it, which I emptied out, but the log needs a good drying. Someone has added some paper in a separate baggie, which I signed. It took nothing / left nothing, and managed to close the outer container - which wasn't easy, I guess over the years it has warped some. Hopefully this at least keeps further water out. It was hard work climbing all the steps back up! Thanks for the old cache!
Log book is wet but put new paper in.
What a wonderful walk through the bush. And an old one to boot. Working on my Ausmer and needed this one. Thanks for keeping the old ones alive.

Logbook is soaked and contents very damp. I tipped out the excess water but it could do with some drying out (today was not the day for it I'm afraid).
Lovely bush area, fairly easy find with the help of the iPhone. The older container had a lot of water in it (tipped out) and the contents of the newer container were also sodden. TFTC
A lovely spot for a walk on a sunny day, and although I’ve been ok so far I am very suspicious of snakes! I found coords to be fairly spot on for this, but the clue & the map to be misleading. The cache box is broken and leaks (the lid was off when I found it), but the log is contained inside a second container which is holding tight.

I walked to this cache from the Warrimoo cache. It took me about 2 hours, but that involved stopping and admiring the gorgeous scenery. In that time, I only came across two other bush walkers. Such a remote but accessible area.
It took me about 15 minutes to find this cache, as my GPS wouldn't seem to take me closer than 20m. After a while, I realised I had to get deeper into the bush! Just after eventually finding the brilliant-sized cache, I read the previous logs about leeches. Leeches?! I shuddered at the thought. I've never been to a rainforest before... I looked down at my shoes and lo and behold, I saw one of the little bastards making its way up my shoe! I quickly kicked it off and rapidly signed and put the cache back.
For the rest of the day I was so paranoid I had leeches crawling on me! I found a total of 4 on my shoes for the next hour, but only one of them had made its way to my shin and was feasting away on my precious blood! Well that certainly was a caching experience I won't be forgetting anytime soon! TFTC.

2nd of 6 finds today. For years and years I have driven past the Wildflower garden and always make a comment that we should visit. Well today finally was the day we made it. Planned to do some bushwalking with my Geosons to get them out of the house on a nice day and decided to throw in any caches we went past on the track. Started out on the Fitzgerald track, then continued on the Mueller track. Wandered around in circles for a bit at GZ and will admit to looking at the hint. On one of my loops I stumbled upon the cache. SL, TNLN, TFTC!
Found after battling through some spider webs. Cache is in good condition. Good sized cache. TFTC
Nice walkabout from the flower gardens, leeches out in force in the wet weather today.
I had been eyeing off this one for a while and today seemed to be a good day to come turn it into a yellow smiley.
Being early on a sunday morning and overcast i found the roads delightfully clear of traffic on my way here. I parked at the end of Kitchener St and headed up the trail with the cicada chorus all around me.
I was happy to find that the route was well maintained.
The cache was well hidden by the camo but the clue was very helpful in drawing my eye.
As i was sitting and writing this a leech decided to take a run at me and had crawled all the way up my leg before i spotted it.
Thanks.

Today went much better than yesterday when I found one from 3. Today it was seven from seven in the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower garden. The flowers were well spread, although when we got back to the Visitor Centre, we had in fact seen all of the flowers in their display.
This was the second of the day. TFTC.

#2265 on a trip in the Hornsby area with alnic39, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC after specific caches we parked at the end of Kitchener Road and we all followed the fire trail while watching the GPSr counting down. With reception playing up it was now search. After a litle bit of searching we came up with the prize
With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache The 2 Dogs & for whoever is looking after it

Out on an afternoon cache run with phlphotos, alnic39 and Splitty Miller JJCC collecting some targeted caches that fill in some missing months for the Australian Jasmer "Ausmer" Challenge cache. In all we managed to track down two missing months with Ruff and Tumble (December 2002) as well as #38 Under Pressure (February 2002). Along the way we also collected some solved mystery caches. Parking the car at the end of Kitcheners Road, we made our way down the firetrail towards GZ. We had researched this cache before we arrived and for some reason we were thinking something a lot bigger based on the hint. In the end we walked directly over to GZ and spotted the hide. With the cache in hand, we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache The 2 Dogs.

I swear these geocaching friends of me are leading me astray! I have no idea what that means, but I'm having a great time. TFTC
Found with two enthusiastic geo kids who have walked to find this cache and looked for about 20 mins without a grumble. They are now going crazy for the loot (they will swap!!). Thanks for the cache and giving me a reason to bush walk in disguise!
On a lovely late winter morning I decided to visit the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, a place I missed visiting during my twenty five odd years living only a few kms away. I though that there would have been many more flowers in bloom with spring only a few days away, however, the ones that I did see were very beautiful. No muggles were to be seen, in fact my car was the only one in the car park at the beginning and end of the trek.
After wandering around big red, looking at all the likely rotting hollows, I eventually found the hide. TFTC

Found on a roadtrip to Sydney and Dungog with Muppet95 and 154Crows. We found a few 'old school' caches over a long day of driving. We managed to find all the caches we set out to do & they were all found in good condition. TFTC!
I had no previous intention of voluntarily attempting my Jasmer Grid. That was until a Jasmer Challenge cache was published close to home – so I now have little choice but to work on it. Looking through my statistics I realised I didn’t have too many unique months of the grid to fill in, but it was going to be a real pain in the neck to work on.
Since then I have come to realise that there is something slightly special about completing caches Pre-2005. “Old School” caches have a certain level of historical value within the geocaching community. It was my observation that these caches that have withstood the test of time are either difficult to interpret, hidden in places that wouldn’t get many visitors, or the coordinates are off significantly. Regardless, some of the caches have been reasonably rewarding to find. Thanks to all the respective Original Cache Owners - and Current Cache Guardians (if any) – for maintaining these special gems.

I've chipped away at the Australian Jasmer (Ausmer) for several months now.
A trip to the ACT last week filled 5 more grid filling caches. As a result, I only had 6 remaining months to fill - all of which could be achieved in a single days roadtrip North. So the plan was hatched to spend 10 hours driving from Bowral to Frying Pan Campground (return trip) and allow 5 hours for everything in between (6 caches, 2 fuel stops, lunch break & a quick stretch of legs every hour or so). We left at 6:30am and arrived home at 10:30pm - A big day!
These caches were highly rewarding to find. I've been filled with a great sense of achievement now that I have completed one of my geocaching goals for the year! Thanks for the caches!
This was the second find for the day. We decided to do this one towards the start of the day (daylight hours) because this was the longest walk for the day & the map suggests that the trails might cause confusion. Luckily for us, this assessment was redundant - the track down was clearly marked, defined and straightforward. The cache was also located without any problems (accurate coordinates and hint). I offloaded/topped up the container with swag.
Thanks for the nice walk to stretch the legs!

As I was scouting a way to cross the steam ( as this was where my map had the cache) I came across it tucked away as described . This a double for me being a regular size and a missing month. I should mAke that a triple a nice walk as well. Thanks 2 dogs for the placement Cheers

I had wanted to find this cache before a recent trip to America to complete my Jasmer but ran out of time. Then couldn't access a couple of the caches because of snow so a return trip to the USA is needed but I managed to get this cache now. We parked at the Kuring gai wildflower garden and walked down. My son rang on the walk so I was chatting and didn't notice how steep it was, I noticed on the way back that's for sure. The cache was found quickly with good co ords , the outer container had water in it but the inner container was nice and dry. Thanks for the cache The 2 dogs tnln sl
This cache took me quite a lot of time to find, looking in a variety of places. When I did see it however the location was quite obvious. I'm surprised I didn't see it sooner. Thanks
Told the family I wanted a surprise outing on Father's Day, including at least one geocache. After a call to Mr Hancock of Hancock Clan fame, they brought me up here to do this loop. Great choice it was too on a beautiful spring morning.
Hmm coordinates were a bit out but found without trouble.
We think my wife may have lost a pair of Raybans here, if anyone finds them, could you let us know please?

I came down to Sydney to find a bunch of geocaches on my short list. Mostly these were old caches to fill in new unique months on my grid. I thought I would have time to find some others as well, but I did not think how almost all old caches involved a decent walk, so ended up cutting some towards the end. Still nine finds out of nine is a good rate.
Number one for the day. Maybe this was not the longest walk as it was only four hundred meters or so away from where I parked on Timbarra Road. But I missed any tracks and ended up making my own way there, which took about an hour. With a particularly horrible fern section that I had to swim though. Then it turned out the cache is on the other side of the creek, fortunately it was pretty low and easy to cross. The find took a little while due to the bad reception. And on on way out I decided I would take the long way around as it would probably be faster anyway. Then I saw a track that was not on my handheld and decided to chance it. Which turned out great as it came out at **S33°42.257 E151°10.081**, this took about a third as long to get back, even though it was all up hill. I highly recommend this trailhead if only doing this cache.
Thanks for the intense warm up, great area, new month placed and the cache!

Came here today for a bushwalk and to grab a few geocaches with a very dear friend, who recently decided this strange sport may just be something nice to do.
Trying the new phone today, a Samsung Note4...not very impressed with its accuracy so far, regarding "SATs", but perhaps its a calibration error. Will find out on the next caching day out.
Container had a spoon full of water, but otherwise dry.
Picked up a few leeches here today to.
Shortly after our find, we sat by an amazing view of the creek and had a bite to eat.
Awsome walk, dont see why anybody would shortcut this trail, its great.

Found with the geo-crew during an overcast Sunday afternoon wander around the wildlife gardens. I have passed these six unclaimed smileys everyday for quite a while but weve got five of them claimed now. GPS reception was a bit patchy at GZ - probably a ploy by the leeches who descended on us in great numbers. Many thanks 2 Dogs
Came down from "Mr Rock", along the trails to see some pretty spectacular wildflower displays.
While the geowifey painted faces at the garden show, thus I went bush for an hour and a half.
Yay, 2002 2dogs cache found too. Always checked my feet with the start of the leech season on us, thanks 2 dogs
