I have achived this cache on the remarks of the last to searchers. It seems that the whole river area was swept away in the February floods. Will replace on my next visit.
Went looking for this cache after a very pleqasant afternoon in Martinborough, but failed to find it.
The GPS took us to within about 5-10 metres, and we found the feature mentioned in the clue, but the area we were searching has slipped quite recently, probably in the February storms.
Looked about under a few rocks to find the cache, but no luck.
dp has taken a few photos of the slip, and so we can find out if we were looking in the right spot
Carried on up the riverbed, and spent a good hour exploring the pinnacles. Well worth the trip, even without the cache find

Think this one is under the mud if not gone. Water marks from flood well up bank. You are only able to see the very top of the tree which the GPS said was the one, same for ones near by. Lots of slips around and behind cache

Lovely spot with amazing hillside formations and fossils. Nice hiding spot. Took nothing - left a padlock.

We walked along the track and the stream bed. Found the cache after about five minutes of looking under likely looking rocks.
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. From close to the cache there were nice views down the valley and across Palliser Bay. Unfortunately didn't have have enough time to go looking for the cache at Palliser Head as we wanted to get back to Lake Ferry Hotel in time for a nice meal. Will go looking at Cape Palliser another time.
Took the torch and left green plastic knife and fork.
