Out and about with Wingaap and She-Gecko... The three of us had a quite detailed look around and came up empty. The description and the hint don't seem to marry up as the area looks like it has had a significant clean out... If it gets a find again soon, I shall return!!! Cheers and thanks!!
Over on the dark side in the good company of Rastas and Ms Gecko.
We spent quite some time in the area and came up empty. It looks like the area is undergoing a clean up.
Oh well...always next time
Thanks

Boohoo - second DNF for us today...
Had the place to ourselves recommend Saturdays) and another bonus - no mossies (wind was very friendly today) so we had plenty of time to search.
Maybe we just looked in all of the WRONG spots today...
We did pick up a bit of rubbish though including a bag much like the one described in the clue and a zip lock bag but no other evidence of a cache.
Will come back another day to try our luck!

Nice easy find.
Visited this cache TWICE today !!! After we first found it, geoMUM (in her bright wisdom) decided to pack our pen, stickers and caching notebook into the cache as well as all the other cache goodies. So off we go to the next cache, only to find that we didn't have our gear with us, after we found that one !!! After searching the car, looking around the next cache (thinking we may of dropped our gear). GeoMUM pops up... Ooops, I think I packed it into that last cache !!! A quick trip back, our gear was grabbed and all was righted... Oh the fun of caching with your "BETTER HALF !!!"
Grabbed the "WDD 2007 Commemorative Geocoin"
Dropped the "United We Cache Geocoin"
Saw the Pooh's Geocaching Travel Log TB (ref = TBHYBD) - but did not take it. The "i! Chick" TB (ref = TB353) was not in the cache.
Cheers,

An easy find - the cache was visible from the nearby path.
Took TB Badminton Burge and Left Pooh's Geocaching Travel Log TB. We didn't want to stay long because the mozzies had no fear of the fresh mosquito repellant we had applied before leaving the car for the walk to the cache.
One of the blue clips was missing from the cache container and we happened to spot it on the path after we had replaced the cache. Took it back but found that it had actually been broken off.
We had planned to have a coffee at the nearby visitors' centre but unfortunately it wasn't open when we reached the door(after 4pm on a Monday) although there were lots of cars in the carpark which had raised our hopes.
Thanks, dohertys, for bringing us to this interesting area.

WHAT A LOT OF MOSSIES!!
Found this with my niece Taylah, both of us getting eaten alive by blood-suckers and watched intently by an inquisitive bird on a branch nearby.
Taylah says "Uncle Dale whistled to the bird and it *nearly* came on to his arm".

Almost no-one enjoying the lake today, plenty of swans though. The wind & showers were keeping people away from the coastal areas. TFTC
Tiki 3 woke up in time to join me for the hunt with this one, which was just as well, as it required a little bit of scratching around to find. Also, we were very lucky today that there seemed to be very few mozzies, as I totally forgot to dose us up with repellent. TFTC.
I very wisely took your advice and liberally applied the bug spray in the carpark... Found the cache after a short search, after nearly stepping on a soggy dead canetoad (shudder shudder). The cache is fine after last night's heavy downpour. Took - , left fish paperclips and keyring, and saw some great waterbirds. A black swan stood on the path nearby and some interesting ducks took to the water as I approached. I've been here before for lunch, and was disappointed to see rubbish all over the ground near the bin, but the bin was full to overflowing. You'd think they would empty it before the weekend? Thanks for the drive and the cache.
Was doing some work close to this cache today and thought I might as well have a go at trying to fine it. So armed with some mozzie repellent I headed off to track down the booty. Lovely spot, next time I might take the tour. So down the I headed, I could not see what all the fuss was about with regards to the mosquitos, there were none (On the path that is). My GPS was pointing into the bush so off I went; there was the cache easy find, now to log the find. Wow now I know what the fuss was all about, the mozzies were trying to carry me off (even with the repellent). Quickly filled in the log, and returned the cache to its location. (One of the side clips was broken so I put in inside the container). Thanks for the cache (and the blood donation to the mozzies).
We had attempted the Trading Hub off once before. After losing half of our blood supply, we though it prudent to leave it for another day. Keight found it with a little persistance, and took a moo-cow and left some play-do.
Cache was located fairly quickly.
Mozzie attack! Where-ever I stepped, I stirred up hundreds of mozzies. They seemed to like my insect repellent, and followed me into the car. TFTC

What a delightfully unexpected area! Gorgeous birds everywhere, but obviously overfed as the number of mosquitoes proved - had to breathe through my teeth to strain 'em out! Seemed like a place schoolkids would come, so dropped the X-plorers bug here. TFTC. ='.'=
Watching the black swans gliding across the lake and the spoonbills flocking on the shoreline made it easy to forget you were in the middle of an industrial area here. Found the cache OK but, boy, had to keep my mouth shut as the mozzies must have been desperate for a feed! I had pre-lathered myself with repellent but hadn't even considered eating it as well!
aaaargh!,met hely 'n'rachy searchin' for this one, pretty sure there ain't no chick t.b in cache?,thanks for bringin' me to this top spot!
One of four in an couple of hours - Five today which is our new record. Nice area too - I was able to take some nice pictures of Romina the Beetle Bug before dropping her in the cache. Took nothing - Left Travel Bug. Thankyou
Found by Sunshine Toledo at 11:45am. This was my 3rd look for this one. I have always felt uncomfortable at this site as the security people watch every move. They are cleaning up the long grass under all the trees too. Now I can cross it off my list. TNLNSL TFTC
Found by Abseilqld at 08:15, nice area - heaps of mozzies - i felt like i was giving a blood donation!!! Dropped off travel bug. TN. TFTC
Found it on the way home after work. Bit of luck involved I think. Found 16:00.
Found at 1600 this was our second attempt at finding caches in the area after work TLNL.
I didn't find it but I think that the mozzies took it away. This doesn't mean that it isn't there only that I couldn't find it.

Was out that way today and don't know why I didn't go looking for the cache. Brain fade or something, blame it on the computer!!!
Nicely laid out area - lots of birdlife. Oh yes did I mention the mozzies? TNLN. Thanks dohertys
This was our 4th find for the day nice spot but the mozzies nearly carried us away.

DNF. Could not get a good enough signal under the trees. I was being sent one side then the other of the general area of GZ. Maybe another day. Took some pix though.
Found without too much trouble. Quite enjoyable watching the swans on the pond. TFTC
Found this without drama as the cache was uncovered just sitting in the open. Signed log and replaced at co-ords with a bit more cover around it. This is also a great place to look around, alot of development has taken place since I was last here years ago.

This is a great spot. We've been nearby a few times to catch the "Mi-Cat" over to Moreton, but had never ventured in here. The cache was easy to find and we had a bit of morning tea in the grounds.

Easy cache located in an area we would probably not normally visit.
It is an interesting location with plenty of birdlife and picnic facilities. We had lunch at the cafe - The Works Burger comes highly recommended, although make sure you are hungry before you tackle one
We parked at the carpark that is close to the cache coordinates and took the track down via muster point B. Cache was in hand a few minutes later.
Left Car, took starfish magnet. SL. TFTC.

Wife and I were visiting family in Brisbane and decided to look for this one, as it wasn't far off our track. Must admit, I never would have gone to this area under normal circumstances. The exhibit was closed as this is Easter Monday, so will have to make an effort to come another time to visit the exhibit.
Cache not too hard to find, but you are right about wonky GPS due to tree cover. Cache in great condition, but big spider inside bag, we shook him out and let him find another home. Mozzies were bad, so we had to use our bug spray in our kit. Took TB, left TB. Thanks for showing us a lovely park and the swans!!

Finally managed to get back out this way, last time we came looking for this cache we had got only about 5 feet from the car before we were attacked by huge mozzies so we made a hasty retreat without much exploration. Definately had to come back here though as it is a great spot and one we would have perhaps missed while we are travelling around.Found at 12.26. No mozzies today though and it was a nice easy find.

Found at 5:00pm. I still haven't found myself a GPS, so relied on a picture of location from Google Earth. Found cache quite easily. Green garbage bag is actually black. Took nothing, left "The search for meaning" Kiwi with binoculars travel bug. Decided to leave it here near the other birdlife, rather than dropping him off at the motel.
Have been here before and noted it seemed out of place.
Nice location, good coords and easy cache to find.
If you are coming out bring another rubbish bag as the bag is perished. The container within is fine, but the rubbish bag adds camoflague & discourage muggles.

Found this one - very easy to find using the clues! It was in a nice little spot which I generally wouldn't think would be located in that sort of area...
We took a plastic cow, left a parachuting man, a starfish fridge magnet and some lavender incense.

A VERY interesting drive to the cache... this place is well out of the way of most peoples travels but it is well worth the drive alone.... all went well until we got to the cache where we disturbed a nest of mutant ninja mossies !!!
2 pm - Took nothing, threw in two cows (items of commerce / trade) - quick getaway followed by a thick cloud of blood sucking three eyed mossies.

After the large group of school children hampered my last effort, it was much easier to find this time with no-one around. Found easily at 10.15am, but nearly got carried away by all the mozzies.....never seen so many mozzies in the one spot.

A large bit of Brisbane I haven't visited before. A cache was a great excuse to ride the bike past the gates for once. I had a great time riding around the whole island. Everything here is BIG just like the cache. Took salt shaker and left keyring.
well another nice spot had this place to myself oh and big brother will bring my oldman back to here he can sit and enjoy the wild life anyway cache is still in good nick TNLN this time will swap next visit
Found at 10.55am. A beautiful area, shame about the mozzies. Not difficult to find this one. Took Critter2 puzzle for the nephew, left a crow (I might add, we are not Crow's supporters!!)
Attempted this one at 8:20 pm and found it slomst by accident when steve almost fell over!! Thank you for the cache and the entertainment it provided!!! took the backpack and left the jigsaw puzzle
Found after a bit of searching and a large donation of blood to the local mozzie poulation.Definatly not an area that was high on the must visit list but was worth it. They seam to be making it more tourist friendly rather than just all work and trucks.

Well, things where going fine for me today until I destroyed my $400 Canon digital camera at the Brisbane Port Authority building....[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!] NOT HAPPY JAN!!! I set it up to take a self pic but a wind gust blew it off the wall and it fell a meter directly onto the zoom lense which made it break into several peices...AHHHHHH!!!!!
I had already taken some pics and had a really interesting story for how I got one of them but they will be put on a separate post when I manage to get the images out.
Anyway, enough of the sadness and anger....
I found the actual cache without any problems, swapped pepper shaker for pack of cards. The ants have made their nest in the salt shaker from the looks of it.
Thanks Dohertys for this one,
Lt. Sniper
PS: The day got worse as I had a bolt puncture (not a nail) trough one of my new Pirelli tyres!

Visited this one before work this morning. Got there about 8.15am. Easy walk up and find. Took glitter glue and put in some $$$ (sorry, didn't have anything else, but I know my kids like to find cash in a cache, so some others may like it), also took TB. Looks like theres quite a bit of gardening work being done in the area of the cache... brand new turf has been laid within 4m of the cache location and some gardens have mulch on them... I just point this out as this puts the cache, in its current location, at risk of being discovered by gardeners.
As we were getting back in the car, a security car pulled up nearby and the guard went over and looked around where we'd just been. He may have just been checking that I didn't ruin their new turf?? By the time we drove away he was looking around about 40m from cache location, so I don't think he suspected anything. Point to note though: eyes are watching in this area.

found my first Cache today in the rain. There were a lot of ants otherwise cache is in good condition.Did not take or place anything. Was on my way back to work from lunch.
1.15pm Found my first cache during lunch break. Workers still in area. Don't be put off by the ants, they don't bite. Removed and disposed (properly) the 2 batteries as they were corroding.
Yes, I forgot to mention the ants. Thousands of the little fellas. There was a lot of grass seeds in the plastic bag, I don't know whether they were after them or had brought them there. But you're right, they're just harmless ones that don't bite. I reckon I would have brushed a hundred of them off of my after the cache and still found some on me half an hour later!
Congrats to J.A.C.S. and mitasol on their first find!

This was the second cache for the day. Found it with BJ. The mozzies made their presence felt. Being Saturday there was no one else around. Left the Koala TB to start his adventures.
Decided to spend the geocaching as I had the day off work. This was the 4th find of the day. Excellant spot. Cache was quite easily found despite the muggles about. Did a tour of the surrounding area and had luch in the cafe with my wife. Nice spot, but the mozzies were ferocious.
Yet another interesting caching experience provided by dohertys! After a pleasant dinner and a movie in the suburbs, my colleague Rob and I decided to go for this one. After all, we were on the right side of the river, and it was only 18km away.
Not surprisingly, there were no muggles around to disturb us. The coordinates were spot on, and with an EPE of only 4m, we found the cache immediately at 2200. I set about 'doing the business' while Rob held the torch. Just as I was tidying up, Rob said that there was someone looking into our car with a torch, and that he had got out of a car with yellow and green flashing lights! So much for no muggles! We rehid the cache and evacuated the area. We got to the car to find a couple of port security officers in the process of identifying our number plate by radio. We explained that we were out for a walk, and they, in turn, advised us that the island is off limits after dark, and that they discouraged visitors. They were very nice about it, and accepted that a couple of interstate visitors had merely wandered into the place with no evil intent. Visitors are very welcome during daylight hours.

Had been talking geocaching the previous night over dinner while on an overnight stay with Jim and Jenna on our way back to SA from Cairns.
Jenna helped us hide a new cache this morning, and she was keen to see us make a find too. The Trading Hub was the closest to their house, so after driving us here, Jenna was in and under bushes searching with us, and was first to see it at about 2.15pm.
Cache was still in good condition, and we took a small yellow waterproof container, leaving "Lucky Duck" TB that we had picked up in Cairns. He had arrived there from the US, and wants to travel Australia, so hopefully he moves on again soon.
Our last Queensland cache this trip and a pleasant area that even our local hosts didn't realise was here. Thanks dohertys!

Finally knocked this one off after stopping off at Wynnum on the way home for fish & chips, yum. Some good potential cache sites down this way, might have to place one here soon.
Took us a few minutes to locate it, someone (muggles?) have written in the logbook but not logged the find here. Cache is in good condition and container is still watertight. TNLN.

Found By Rogainer and miss rogainer at about 10:00am Sunday morning.
Had a bit of time this morning on route to airport, so thought I would pick up a few caches in the area.
Found this one fairly quickly - the mosquitoes also found me very quickly.
Quickly scribbled a note in the log book and exchanged a sheet of stickers for some salt & pepper shakers - while the mozzies had their feed.
We might even return one day for a guided tour! - The beauty of caching - discovering parts of the city you would not normally get to.
Thanks for the hunt

Dropped of the in-laws (they're going on a boat nearby) and on the way noticed treasure chest float across the GPSr screen.
With kids leading the way we found this without much hassle. Plenty of ants present and the garbage bag has a hole in it. Didn't have my backpack with us so I was unable to replace it.
Thanks for the cache,

With kids leading the way we found this without much hassle. Plenty of ants present and the garbage bag has a hole in it. Didn't have my backpack with us so I was unable to replace it.

Nice little spot, there were men painting the walkways and stuff near the carpark, so we took another tack and came in from another side. Kyle with his eagle eyes spotted it before we did.
Took Maple Bear to continue his missions and a rubber snake. Left a bull shark and a floating key holder for when your snorkelling or out on a boat..

Thought we might be in for quite a search after the cache not having been found since September, but turned out to be quite an easy find. Green garbage bag was quite tatty, so replaced it with a black garbage bag. Cache and contents were in good condition. Dropped off Maple Bear TB to hang out (hopefully for not too long). Swapped pencil case for plastic clips.
Thanks for the hunt Dohertys.

Didn't know that this spot existed - very nice.
First of a long afternoon on the hunt.
Took the wizard and Mr chips and left a black snake that was lurking in the bushes. Next finder should be careful when they open the stash

It is marvelous the new places you find when geocaching. What a great spot, the black swans and bird life is plentiful and great to see. This area is really growing and worth the visit. I tried with only co-ordinates but could not find so went back with hints and it was easy. Left Mr chips and a wizard and took magnetic strip. Thanks for another great hide.

Found the cache at 9:45 at night. It was pretty tricky to find, but I think that was mainly to do with it being so dark. As everyone else has said there are tons of Mozzies in the area, so it might be a good idea to bring some repellant. The cache was in good condition. Took a travel bug called Hyperion, left nothing. I will relocate the bug in the next couple of days.
FOUND THIS ONE AT ABOUT 6 PM WHILE WAITING FOR A PLANE TO DARWIN.WAS A BIT HARD TO FIND IN THE DARK BUT FOUND IT JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE IT FOR THE MOZZIES.TRADED NOTHING BUT TOOK ALBY & WENDYS RAT TRAVLLER(THERE WAS NO TAG ON IT SO I ASSUMMED IT WASNT A TRAVEL BUG) I'LL DROP HIM OF AT DARWIN SOON.
Found this morning after a drive across the gateway bridge. Left some small toys and took nothing. Interesting spot seems so new. Lots of swans on the lake. Thanks, Andrew and Maryan
Went for a drive today to Brisbane's eastern suburbs and found this cache at 12noon. Still plenty of mosquitos, big ones too! We proceeded down the indicated path before losing reception and walking right past the target. I doubled back around and spotted a bogus cache in the bushes. It turned out to be just a discarded plastic bag stuck up under a tree. I went out to the open area again to get the GPS locked on. I had some idea where the cache was but I wanted to wait until the GPS indicated more accuracy before heading back into the mosquito zone. Mean time, Jade had found the cache. We dragged it out and swapped a ratty creature from Expodition to the North Pole for the tire gauge. We jummped back in the car and had a nice picnic lunch nearby. Thanks Doherty's for the cache.

Fifth and last cache for the day and what can I say except Mozzie, Mozzie, Mozzie! Ow! Ow! Ow!
In hindsight, 4.15pm probably wasn't the best time to visit with all those mangroves and swamps around. The cache proved a little elusive as well but finally gave up its location to three pairs of eyes who were just about to call it quits. Didn't swap anything here and decided not to give blood at the nearby Mobile Red Cross Blood Bank as none of us could spare any after the mosquito onslaught!
Thank Dohertys for yet another great location.

Very very nice recreation spot for doing just about anything. Very nice to see the black swans in the pond. Traded a poncho for a bottle cooler. Oh and we were first.
